Health & Support Drunken binging frustration.. Jul 06 2009

I have been there... but what did was totally quit drinking for month  and yes you get a lot of flack from friends and I was asked at least 100 times "are you pregnant" but just remember that it is for you not them... after a month off of detoxing from alcohol I now (if I now I am going to drink at night) I will have a big meal for dinner (healthy of course) and that way I am really full and I drink less and binge less throughout the night, I also drink the lowest calories drinks.   I give myself one free day, usually friday or staurday night because of drinking, to eat/drink whatever I want, then I am right back on track the next day with minimal weight gain.  Hope this helps... good luck

Weight Loss Whats your daily exercise and eating regime!? May 11 2009

I'm 23, 5"8, 129 lbs, 16% body fat.  I eat anywhere from 1700-2100 cals a day (try to anyways, usually slip up and eat more once a week or so).  I workout 6-7 days a week.  I lift 4-5 days a week and do some kind of cardio everyday whether it be a spin class, HIIT, disntance running, rowing machine, or the stairmaster.  Try to eat 30-40% of cals from protein and only eat low GI complex carbs (vegetables, whole grains).

That 80 min you spend biking could be spent much more productively if you spent half of it weight training and the other half doing high intensity cardio.  -- just a suggestion :)

That is awesome!  How long do you spen at the gym eash day?? Do you go in the AM or PM?  I am trying to get into a better schedule but having trouble.

I am the same as you. I don't have the time to make a huge breakfast. I'm not a fan of oatmeal either.

My faves for a quick fix leaving me full:

Peanut butter and banana wrap. 1 tbsp PB on a weight watchers tortilla with a banana wrapped inside. (270-300 calories)

I buy egg beaters. I put 1/2 cup in a tupperware, with whatever veggies I have, and if I don't have veggies, I use a tbsp of salsa. When I get to work, I microwave for 3 minutes, stirring halfway through. It puffs up so nice and it's no work at all! (50 calories for the eggs and then add salsa and veggies, puts you at no more than 90 cals)

I'm full till lunch at 1pm.

Can you do this the night before??  Do egg beaters taste good??

Weight Loss The "Lighter Life" Plan- Starvation Diet? Apr 16 2009

This is very similar to CR (calorie restriction) that was featured on the news a few months back.  I think that would work for obese people to train their brains to eat less.  Nowdefinitely not to the extreme of 500 calories but cutting calories will jump start your metabolism but it needs to be watched carefully. CR has scientific evidence that it increases life span and health.

The contestants on The Biggest Loser TV show are calorie restricted and lose 10, 15, 20 pounds a week with exercise.   And they are constantly watched by doctors.

Not saying you should CR to 500 calories like the "diet" explained here but CR is an option that works for a lot of people as long as you get the required vitamins and minerals and excercise.

Weight Loss Shorties 5'1"--how many calories? Apr 06 2009
18:18 (UTC)

It is so great to see all of you on here.. that are short like me and can't just eat n eat like everyone else. It helped me to get a personal trainer that is tiny like me, because she explained it like "we are little so we only need a little"  I'm 5'1" when I started on here I was 132lbs, and now I am down to 118lbs. I would like to get down to 100-105lbs, but it has been slow going for the last month or so, trying to get motivated to go to the gym.

But keep up the good work shorties!

I wish I had some advice for you.  All I can say is that I'm the other husband.  I'm the one who looked at my 42 yr old wife and seeing that she was totally hot decided that at 35 I should be no less for her.  I've stopped eating garbage.  I do strength training 5 days a week and cardio 3-4.  I'm losing about 2 to 3 lbs a week for the summer.  When we first started dating, I could see the way she looked at me when I would take my shirt off.  I want to see that expression on her face again.  I want her to be proud to be seen with me.  Not just becuase she loves me, but because she thinks I look damned good.  How do you get that from a husband?  I honestly don't know.  Hopefully he will come around eventually, if he sees how important it is to you.

Good luck.

NOw see this is all I wanted to come of it, this man sees it the right way... being happy about how each other feels about the other... Monk I think that is great the you had the thought that you should be no less to her. I bet your relationship only got better after.

And I am not shallow, did not marry him for his looks and do not have a control issue. Most of you that are bashing me are taking what I am saying wrong and can't relate to my situation, so therefore you should not comment on the matter.  The others that are commenting are using their failed marriage stories as a right to give me advice. And look at the picture again, and double check your arms comment.

I think this said it perfectly: Being attractive to my wife makes me feel good.  Feeling healthy feels great to me.  I am doing this for me.  If my wife thinks I'm hot, then it's really just an added incentive.     -having that mentality can't hurt anyone!

About the gym membership I did not just go out and get him one we talked about it and he agreed to go, I just supplied the $$.  We pay for the membership so shouldn't it be used??

And just because you get married, love each other, are committed and comfortable and trusting of each other doesn't mean you just let yourself go thinking "oh its ok he/she loves me... thick and thin... blah blah... This is about HEALTH in so many ways and most of you just aren't getting that.

we cant claim to know the poster on a personal level.  maybe she worded it wrong, i dont know.

all she wanted was advice on how to motivate him into being healthier (and i like to think the best of people so thats how im interpreting it) and if she has a concern about her lack of attraction then she might not be able to help that.

ive seen lots of posts where people talk about losing attraction of their spouse, or posters who know their spouse is losing attraction and are sabotaging their efforts because of it.

telling someone that their husband will leave them, or a contest of who is a better person, is hurtful especially if she meant well but couldnt express herself better in words.

i dunno....thats my thought.  sorry if i offended anyone, but i dont like it when people gang up on someone..

Thanks! and you have it exactly right!

Mostly my problem is why can't he see that is not at a healthy weight/shape and why doesn't he care and do more about it??  If not for me than for himself.  I just don't know how to tell him that what he is doing now is great but not enough to make results, without making him sad/mad?

I think I am hitting a plateau as well but it really freaks me out to think I have to eat more to lose more.  I have not got that around my head yet. Do you just eat more per meal or meals per day?

I have a really small frame and my weight range says 106-118.  I have get back into really counting calories and getting a good excersize routine going.  You sound like you LIKE to workout, I totally lack the motivation/desire to workout.  I wish I had your enthusiasm to go everyday.

I'm in!  I am 5'1" 121lbs, started CC a few months (at 131lb) ago but I still need to lose more. I would like to get to 105 by June.  I have a tip that is working for me... when you eat (and I tend to overeat) don't eat everything on your plate only eat 1/2 - 3/4 of it and it has trained me not to take so much next time so I don't waste it. Seems to be working for me in the portion size dept.
