Weight Loss The 2-5 pounds to go and stuck thread ... Join me to lose the last few pounds! Apr 14 2009

Hey all,

I still have the last 4.5 pounds to go!!

Height: 5'5
Weight: 112.5lbs
Ideal Weight: 108lbs.

I really have a problem with eating... I live in an Asian country so I am basically just eating white rice everyday, and I get hungry really easily, and end up eating junk. ): I'm totally stuck and I just can't seem to get down from 112.5! Sometimes I fluctuate a lot, but my weight usually reverts back to 112 or something. ): Really disappointed with myself.

I am totally in! But I'm just going to do half of the distance currently because I have a fitness test coming up that requires me to do half the distance, and I really need to shape up for it first before even considering doing 3 miles.

Once I'm done with that though, I totally want to try this.

Weight Loss Simple question...why American are fat???? Mar 20 2009

Yeah, the difference is mainly UNHEALTHY eating, because the foods that are cheapest/easiest to get your hands on are processed, low-nutrition types of food.

Plus, the servings are huge. :/ I'm from Asia and my father went there on a business trip, he couldn't even finish a normal-sized fast-food meal. I mean...all that grease/fat/unhealthiness entering your body, common sense would tell you that it's a major cause of weight gain.

Personally, I think it's a mixture of both diet and portions, at least from my point of view.

Happy new year everyone! (:

Current weight: 111.5, which is a 2 lb loss!

It's such a great new year's gift for me and I hope I can keep it up when school reopens, and not give in to stress-eating or something. Heh. :D

congratulations 1200calgirl!! :D i'm so happy for you!! :D and good luck, and most importantly, have an awesome time on your trip! (: i find that the "small bites" method works for me too. :D

Also, 112 pounds for me currently, but it's kind of fluctuating so I'm hoping it'll settle down at 111-112 at the end of the week, which will be great. I'm really seeing the results even after only 4 lbs, so I'm really happy!

Weight Loss The "myth" that Asian girls are naturally slim Dec 25 2008

Personally, some of the views of beauty in Asia do scare me a lot, when I went to Taiwan, a lot of the girls I saw on the streets were tiny (like short and skinny) and I could only fit into a L over there.

But truthfully, I don't see anything wrong with most of the girls in Asia now.

It doesn't really matter how skinny they are, just as long as they are healthy. And yes, I DO have "stick thin friends who eat a lot a stay skinny" Want proof? My sister. I am, to a lesser extent, somewhat like that. The point is, despite all the lard/ghee/oil in our food, it is still healthier than American food. The serving is smaller, and there's less frying. There's the hawker centre food stalls, which serve cheaper food that are healthier than fast food, depending on what you order, of course.

Even my normally-immune-to-weight-gain sister gained 10 lbs in the US. It's just hard not to, considering that a lot of the commuting is done by car in the US, and the portions there are huge. When she came back, she lost all that 10lbs just by staying here. No exercising, no nothing. Just eating and going out with friends. I'm pretty sure they don't have mass puking sessions when they're together, and since she just bums around at home when she's not out, I can safely say there was hardly exercise involved.

I'm not saying everyone's like that. In fact, I think me and my sister are really lucky. But I know a lot of girls who ARE like that. And I know a lot of girls who exercise. And I know a lot of girls who are simply normal. I did know 2 people who had anorexia (but one of them recovered :D ) but I don't know, it far outweighs the amount of friends who are "normal" i.e not suffering from distorted perceptions by the media or having a ED.

A lot of us grumble about how we'll like to lose a pound or two, but most of us don't do much because we know we're okay as it is, so the motivation is not there.

Anyway, I find it strange because while I do know people who had EDs (my friend, but she recovered and she's perfectly healthy and full of awesomeness. (: ) I don't see any of the slimming teas/fad diets things going on. Maybe it's because I am still a teenager and weight is just easier to lose when you're younger (also because we are all broke and have no money to spend on slimming teas or whatever.) but yea, none of that is happening for me.

Can't say for the adults though, since I'm not exactly one yet and my mother is way past the "worried-about-weight" age already. heh.

Merry Christmas everybody! (: How's all of you doing? I hope none of you have been binging too much on holiday goodies. :D

I got a great Christmas present today, from my own body. heh. I ate the worst of all vices - MCDONALDS!! Although I didn't finish all the fries (yeah right, there were only 5 left when I stopped eating.) and barely half of the soda, the cheeseburger was gobbled up by me. Heh.

Feeling bad, I went down for a run, and weighed myself after the shower, coming up to a 111.3 pounds, which is amazing. (Okay admittedly I went back to 113 with my clothes on, which is...weird. Because I'm pretty sure my clothes don't weigh 2 pounds, do they? :S) Anyway, it's kind of back to 112-3 ish now, but I'm just so happy that my body DID weigh 111.3. Before drinking water. xDD

It kind of encourages me because I did see that number on the scale (three times, no less. Just to be sure.) and although I am not actually there yet, I get the feeling that I can most definitely achieve it someday, so it's a great moral boost to me, even if it is kind of fake. XDD

Also, I look better and trimmer in the mirror, and I actually rely on the mirror a lot more, because weight fluctuates with how much we drank/etc, so I'm getting happier with what I see. (:

So if any of you girls need a boost, go for a run, take a shower and weigh yourself naked, slightly dehydrated and all. Hehe.
Keep going girls! :D

Oh, I am actually afraid of my boyfriend doing that (although he doesn't do it often) although I'm 5'4 and 114 lbs. But the problem is my boyfriend is like, only 10 lbs heavier than me. Yeah. heh. But he seems capable so I'm just like, it's your call. :D

Thanks sazzie18!! (: Don't worry, if I can do it, I'm sure you can. I am a notoriously bad dieter, and I've practically never dieted before. (: So if I can shed some pounds, you can totally get to 110lbs.

One thing I have a problem with is that my 1/3 method only works at home where I can determine my own portions, but when i'm eating out i feel compelled to not waste food. D: Urgh. Nowadays I go out and share a meal with my friend or whatever. Heh. (:

Heyy!

My weight for this week is 113.5, so it's a 1.5lb loss!
i'm just 3.5 pounds away from 110, and 110 will be like an awesome weight for me already... although 105 would be even better!
i gained back to 115 for the past 2 days, and somehow came back to 113.5 today, which is totally weird.

anyway, i found out that eating in smaller portions does it for me. now, I eat like 1/3 of the portion that i normally eat, but i still eat breakfast/lunch/dinner. this way i can find a compromise, because i find not eating something reaaaally hard.

Oh, yeah, that's true. It's really safe around here though, so I tend to go take a quick jog at around 9pm or so. I'm actually building stamina as well, I've been trying to improve my run timings. You can't jog earlier? ):

I know what you mean. ): I keep eating food which I'm not supposed to eat. Like fast food, and I don't know if it helps, but I just use the "eat what you like in smaller portions" method, so yeah, I often leave some of my food, especially stuff like white rice that is just basically empty carbs. It's hard because I'm so used to finishing all my food. ):

Mmm, for me, I weigh myself frequently, like several times, after meals and such. Obviously, I'll be heavier, and I don't know about you but it piles on the guilt for me anyway (like, "Dang I shouldn't have ate that, but oh well, since I already did, time to exerciseee."), so I'll have the motivation to go out and get some exercise.

As for my diet, it gets really hard sometimes and I just waaant to reach for a burger, but then I'll have to remind myself that I've already gone down by around 2 pounds so there is nooooo way I am going to let that 1.5 weeks of running/crunches/torture go to waste, and then I just keep at it until the craving ebbs away slowly. D: Hard but necessaryyy.

-hugs- Don't worry white_sakura! (: I mean, it's totally normal. Once you digest and pass it out, you'll go back to your normal weight. (: sometimes when I feel really guilty for eating a lot and I am absolutely bloated, I go running to lessen the guilt though. (:

I weigh myself whenever...in the morning, after breakfast or right at the end of the day before I sleep. Anyway, I am so happy, I just weighed myself and I am now a steady 113.5 lbs in the afternoon, so basically I have managed to keep my weight steady at around 113.5, instead of fluctuating from 113 in the morning to like, 115 in the afternoon.

I hope I can get down to 113 by the next weigh-in!
