I once had a guy pictured as an old guy who wore overalls, maybe missing a tooth, very country! When I met him I almost fell off my chair! Quite attractive! lol He told me that he had pictured me as an older woman who chain smoked! ewww (I have a rather distinctive voice, I suppose?) I've never smoked a day in my life! Still haven't quite figured out if he was pleasantly surprised or just trying to make the best of his own sense of shock!

If I was your santa I'd buy you a make your own chapstick  kit.  But I'm not.

Do they seriously make those, or am I asking the "Dumb Chat Question of the Day"?

Thank you.  I wish we could get Aleve here.  I steal some from my mom every time she comes back from Vegas.

Anybody have a burning desire to be a drug smuggler?

Runey- they made Aleve legal in Canada a month ago.

You can get it in small bottles, but if you want a larger bottle it's behind the pharmasists counter.

F'REALS?!?  ZOMG you SOOOO just made my day!

This is even better than when i found my sugar cookie lip gloss buried in the bottom of my purse this morning when i thought I had lost it foever and it was just in this purse I haven't used in a year!

??? How old are you? lol j/k!!

We did a lot of traveling by car when I was a kid. My sister would never stay on her half of the back seat, necessitating territorial disputes and border skirmishes.

Which included pinching, hitting, hair pulling, kicking, biting. Quickly followed up with pulling over to the side of the road, screeching tires & warmed rear ends.

My boys used to get mad at each other and say "He's looking out my window!" Good lord! And then on one memorable trip to Anchorage they had gotten on my last nerve and I stopped the truck and made them get out and stand there until we could all cool off! It was probably -30 below and all I told them was not to push each other into the river! It worked! (Does that make me a bad mother?)

Ha.  You want a bad mommy?  A few months ago I put my daughter out on the side of the road and drove away.  She had to run about a hundred meters to catch up.

My mom actually walked out the door and said she was leaving without me, went outside and pulled out of the driveway and drove up the street and back to make a point because I wouldn't get my shoes on.

We were actually goofing around.  She wouldn't quit speaking with an English accent.  I was terrified, kept expecting something to swoop her away.  She thought it was really fun.

lol My kids used to ask me to speak gibberish! Like it was a language or something! I could only do it for a short time before I felt completely idiotic but they would beg and beg! Wow, those were the good ole days!

We drove through large portions of Canada when we moved to Alaska, back in '02. Loved British Columbia! What struck me was that as we drove between Watson Lake and Fort St. John (I think?) there was nothing there but 300 miles or so of trees and a whole lot of sky! Absolutely gorgeous, yet so overwhelming at the thought of all that open space!

*over doses on memories and haz a sad cuz I'm here, and not there*

I hate dresses, but if I were ever forced to wear one I would totally go to Coldwater Creek.

Check out this and this and then there are skirts like this and this.

I do like dresses and skirts, but it's a very small, informal wedding and I don't want to be overdressed, anymore than I want to be underdressed! lol

Pav, those are beautiful! Especially the first one! That would be my choice if I were opting for "fancy, shmancy!"

Thanks for everyone's opinions! I need all the positive reinforcement I can get! Smile

None of my current clothes fits correctly. How the frack could I not frackin' notice the frackin' date in relation to the frackin' wedding????

Ugh.

I hate it when my advancing years kick my ass like this. I was supposed to get my hair done as well. Frak.

And WHAT THE FRAK is dressy-casual?????

Disclaimer: The following comment may be related to above post, but my also be completely random and not applicable to any comment ever made in Chat:

My oldest son is getting married on December 19, and as the mother of the groom, I am wearing nice dress slacks (gray, faux tweed), a nice (pricey for me at $50) silver cardigan w/jeweled buttons, with a dark teal cami underneath the sweater, and black heels. No dress, no over the top heels and no poofy hair/gaudy jewelry/dangly earrings, etc.

Does that sound dressy-casual? Does it sound tacky for a wedding?

kthnxbai

Well, apparently I didn't fall prey to the dreaded muslum! (Did I get the name right?) I suppose if he had it his way, all three of my very well adjusted kids would have been raised in foster homes, because they have all been spanked at one time or another! lol (Granted, not by the bus driver...) As I stated originally, a swat on the butt and a true spanking are not in the same category!

BTW, I love the Uncle Bob story! I laughed at my mom the last time I got a spanking, and it's a great way to convince parents it's time to stop spanking! Worked for my kids too! Smile

My youngest son just made the decision to quit wrestling. He wrestled last year and did very well. He started the season a few weeks ago but suffered a concussion during one of the first real practices. His doctor said that after three concussions brain damage occurs and as this was his second concussion, he didn't want to take the chance of permanent injury for a HS sport. He too is intelligent, gets excellent grades in honors and AP classes. I support him in his decision to not pursue wrestling further and have no doubts that he will be accepted to any university based on his grades, etc.

Best of luck to your son!

The Lounge How do I stop being clingy and insecure!? Nov 23 2009

Perhaps he is just as insecure and unsure as you are. Otherwise, he would most likely have broken up with you by now. Neither of you are taking any active steps to improving the situation/relationship. As the saying goes, "If you keep doing the same old thing, you will keep getting the same old result." If one of you doesn't take an active step in making things change, they will not change. In my opinion, the two of you need to call things off for awhile, get some counseling/therapy and maybe gain some insight into why you are insecure and clingy, and then see if you are still interested in pursuing a relationship with one another.

What you have now is unhealthy; for both of you. Make a change! Make it happen! You will both be better off in the long run!

Best of luck and many prayers.

A "swat on the behind" and a "spanking" are not the same thing, in my opinion. I think she did what she had to do. Bus drivers are not paid enough for what they put up with from some students! Says she also was suspended at one point for telling kids not to use their cell phones on the bus. I wish my kids' bus drivers had more balls!
