| Weight Loss | I gained 11 pounds in 6 days :( | Aug 13 2007 21:11 (UTC) |

| I agree with claire, eating once a day is not good for your metabolism, and that's why I think you put on so much so quickly when you started eating normally. Your metabolism has probably slowed down quite dramatically. You need to eat at least three balanced meals a day, like with a snack in between meals. That includes your carbs, protein, vegies, dairy, and you fruit, this will rev up your metabolism and help you burn calories in a healthy manner. And eat at least 1200 cals a day, less than that and you're in starvation mode. Our bodies are very effecient when it comes to storing energy during times of starvation, and we should keep a steady and sufficient supply coming to ensure that it doesn't hold onto anything extra while we are trying to lose weight and afterwards. | |||
| Maintaining | Your Period... and those stupid cravings! | Aug 03 2007 15:37 (UTC) |

| my cravings have changed, I used to crave chocolate and sweets, but lately it's been protein. I've found myself grabbing a piece of chicken instead of a desert now right before or during my period.
For the past several months my period was consistantly late, by at least 2 weeks, but my last one was only 4 days late and I'm happy to see that I'm getting back to my normal cycles. I just find it odd that my menstration cycle has been changing. Maybe I'm just not getting enough protein in my diet and should make some modifications. |

| Weight Loss | Special K commercial | Jul 20 2007 14:11 (UTC) |
|
| Yeah those girls in the US Special K commercial look like they shouldn't be losing anymore weight. That blonde girl looked even thinner than the girl in the red shirt. I like the ad from England, it was a little more realistic.
But to be honest, I would never go on a diet, that requiremd me to replace two meals with a bowl of cereal anyway. I don't even like special K anyway :p |

| I did it last year and and I must admit, it worked pretty well. I used to have constipation issues but now I don't, after I did the cleanse. The detox will give you a headache for about a week or so, but I'm doing them both again come August. | Congrats on losing the 10 pounds :) I've been on this site for over a year and I've lost over 55 pounds and am maintaining now. Calorie counting is the only thing that has worked for me, along with coming to this site for help and motivation. I actually weigh less than I did in high school, but I was overweight in high school :p and I don't want to ever be overweight again.
I've been maintaining for over 6 months now and am going strong :) |

| sorry to hear about your cat :( What was wrong with him anyway? These things happen, try not to beat yourself up too much about it. I've lost many pets in my life and have too also felt depressed about it. My last cat was lost in a house fire, the cat before died from unknown reasons, I just found him dead one day in my room, one cat got caught in a car engine and lived for a few days in terrible shape, etc.
It's hard to tell what's wrong with an animal because they can't tell us themselves. I'm glad that you eventually got him to the vet and he was put out of his misery. Before you go to bed at night, try and tell yourself that your cat is in a happy place now and there's no need to worry about it. There is no blood on your hands, you didn't kill the cat yourself, it just happened and it was beyond your control. |

| Maintaining | crash diet but now trying to maintain...help! | Jun 01 2007 21:47 (UTC) |

| Yeah, I had to cut out the fried foods, but I still eat them every now and then. I swapped alot of sweets and drinks for sugar free alternatives, everyone thinks I'm a diabetic or something :p I also follow the new food pyramid that's taylored to my calorie intake:
http://mypyramid.gov/downloads/MyPyramid_Food _Intake_Patterns.pdf I probably post this link too much :p I've never cut out carbs, I think that's just silly, 60% of my diet is carbs. I don't eat alot of red meat, when I do it's lean, and instead eat fish, turkey, chicken and ham (lunchmeat). I barely eat out, only on special occasion or when I'm out on a date. I like to splurge every now and then, as long as I get right back on that horse come tommorrow :p What kind of diet did you go on and how much did you lose and all? |

You're doing great, don't let the anorexic people get you down!! |

| Hello :) Glad to see you are trying to make a healthy lifestyle change. All you have to do is try to keep your expenditure equal to your calorie intake in order to maintain your current weight. It may take some time and your weight may jump around here and there, but I'm sure it will adjust. I've been maintaining my weight for about 5 or 6 months now. I've gained about 5 pounds, but I decided to gain that weight anyway because I was having problems at my previous weight. So I'm hoping to stay at the current weight I'm at. My weight does jump around, but I weigh myself every morning so I can catch it early and make the necessary adjustments. | |||

| Yeah, I'm a size 7 in Juniors and a size 2 in Adults so that's a difference of 5 also. There are also Petite and Plus size clothing that varies. I like to buy petite clothing (because I'm short :p) But in that I'm a size 4. | |||

That's all I drink all day long, diet soda! Yeah, the dentist gets on to me... oh well. And what's with people drinking diet soda having a higher risk of become overweight or obese? Do they think by drinking diet soda they can eat more? Strange... |

| Weight Loss | My weight loss thus far. | Jun 01 2007 20:47 (UTC) |

| it's okay man, when I was obese I felt like I didn't look obese either. I think everyone carries it differently and that's why some of us don't look as heavy as we are. I tell people that I'm 120 pounds but for some reason they think that I'm lighter than that. I guess I've always looked 10 lbs lighter that I actually am. And for the calories: don't try to starve yourself and take it nice and slow. 4 lbs in 4 days is alot! You should try like 4 pounds in two weeks, which is more preferable and healthy, plus you won't feel like you are restricting yourself too much. You can always carry snacks around with you too if you can't eat more than two meals a day. Just make sure you are keeping track of everything though. |

| for me it's usually around 200 to 300 extra cals, but it's usually if I'm just extra hungry, bored, or I can't get to a calculator. Otherwise I try to be careful because I know I can be a mindless eater sometimes :p But I think I've been doing alot better at listening to what my body is telling me. | |||
| Motivation | "The secret" | May 08 2007 19:05 (UTC) |

| "Imperfect thoughts are the cause of all humanity's ills, including disease, poverty, and unhappiness." Yes, according to The Secret, people don't just randomly end up being massacred, for example. They are in the wrong place because of their own lousy thinking. Cancer patients have long been victims of this school of belief. But The Secret takes it to a new and more repulsive level with its advice not just to blame people for their illness, but to shun them, lest you start being infected by their bummer thoughts, too.
Does this book really say this!? That's just wrong :( |

| Weight Loss | Oh! The joys of a donut! Yum! | May 03 2007 17:52 (UTC) |

| yeah, it's okay to have a donut every now and then, especially the small glazed ones that are only about 250 cals or so. I just have to sacrifice other snacks that I usually have. That's what I had to learn too, how to restrict myself to just one, and not the whole box :p And I've found that one here and there can be just as satisfying as a bunch all at once. | |||
| Weight Loss | Period Talk | May 03 2007 17:50 (UTC) |
|
| yeah, mine's been acting goofy too. Sometimes I gain the day before, sometimes a few days before. This week I gained 2 pounds within a couple of days, but then lost it overnight and I'm supposed to start tommorrow (hopefully). I'm thinking about talking to my gyno about my wild fluctuations. | |||
| Weight Loss | I realized today, I am an addict | May 03 2007 17:45 (UTC) |
1 |
| that's okay, I'm an addict too :p I replaced eating more with gum chewing and get terrible anxiety when I don't have any gum around. I get that way with food too. (I think it stems from a bad child hood where I hardly got anything to eat) But, it's actually gotten alot better, and I don't chew as much as I used to. My friends used to make fun of me, but at least I don't smoke, drink, do harmful drugs :p
I'm still dealing with my anxiety, I just have my moments, but at least I'm a lot healthier now and I'm not overeating. |

| Weight Loss | How often on the scale? | May 02 2007 16:08 (UTC) |

| I just do it in the morning, when I weigh the least. And only once a day. You really don't need to do it anymore than that. Keeping track of it daily makes it easier to get back on track if you gain some weight. | |||
