So, Its Friday!!!! How did everyone do this work week? Anything exciting or different planned for the weekend? Any successes or set backs?
I did good this week, no mess ups, but hey, its the first week. I read an article last night that women go from 0-100 in a diet and then fail becuase they cant maintain perfection. So, they say dont beat yourself up if you cant be perfect all the time. Weekends are hard for me so I am going to stay busy. We will probably go to the in laws house for a night this weekend. I plan on cleaning the whole house too to get some good productive exercise in! =] |

Nice to meet you, I was having this conversation with a lady in my office today and she has a two year old and a four year old and mentioned that it is hard to work out. When i was like 15 my aunt had an in home day care and she used it to lose weight! She would get the "Wiggles" videos and do them with the kids and she would play outside with them and chase them around. Just being interactive with them gave her plenty of exercise all day long.
=]
p.s. i weigh in every morning, naked, to keep it consistent and see what i can do better that day. But thats just me so is everyone in here interested in knowing how much everyone else is losing? I have never done this online journal and group thing before..... let me know... thanks. =]

I am 5'0 and 204 lbs. I am also working on slimming down for my wedding in September. I was heavier, lost 50 lbs and gained some back, so I am getting on track again just like you.
I am just watching what I eat, cutting back on eating out, no fast food, no regular soda and walking the dog as many times a day as I can. I have to have a purpose when walking otherwise I just get so bored!!
Looking forward to everyones thoughts!

| Foods | Replace Cheese & Sausage! | Jan 08 2009 15:43 (UTC) |

I treat cheese like its a treat. I like the string cheese ones and I eat them as my snack at night or something. I dont know what it is but it is kinda fun to me to peel the cheese, i think that helps lol. I read an article about "mindful eating" and it says to enjoy the taste and texture of food and that is somehting this is good for.
Also, I dont know what you like cheese on, but get it sliced thinner from a deli, or the finely shredded so it looks like more but is a lot less =]
Sausage... beats me!.... |

| Weight Loss | Drinking cold beverages with meals bad for weight loss? | Jan 08 2009 15:26 (UTC) |

I thought that this was interesting and I decided to look more into it and this is what i found:
"Drinking cold beverages actually burns a few calories. The body uses heat to warm up cold beverages, equaling about 1 calorie per ounce. You might be able to burn 64 ounces a day simply by drinking 8 cups of ice cold water. That can give you a few calories for a treat, like a piece of chocolate." [http://longevity.about.com/od/healthyeatingti ps/qt/tips_iceddrink.htm]
and...
"Supposedly, when you have an ice-cold drink with a meal, it can actually numb your stomach enough that it may delay the satiety signal, causing you to eat more than you would if you were drinking a room-temp or hot beverage."

I know that from my personal experience I like water better when there is no ice and even some sodas. They say you drink more when it is roo temperature as well. Also, in the second article she claims that waiting for refridgerated foods such as salads to warm to room temperature allows more flavor.
