Hi you seem a lot like me, I'm also trying to build muscle.  From what I've read online it looks like it just comes down to lifting HEAVY weights (with less reps) and eating more protein (1g/lb)

Hi I used Mutant Mass - http://www.mutantmass.net/

.. lots of body builders use it but its fine for anyone trying to gain weight (don't worry about putting on huge amounts of muscle ..its not gonna happen unless you do some serious weight training along with it)

It comes as a powder and you mix it with water or milk, however I found water was much nicer.  You can make it as thick as you like (its actually quite nice thick which also = more cals!)  I used to have 2 scoops and that was about 500 calories and basically tasted like drinking chocolate cake!!

I'm trying to work on eating quicker coz I've noticed that because I enjoy it I try and drag it out and make it last as long as possible.. so eg. for today when I have an afternoon snack I'm going to have it all together instead of having one thing and then something else like an hour or later just so I get to eat again.  I know that it's good to do this if you get full but for me it's something I need to work on to help me not think about eating so much.

O wow I'm exactly the same!!  I lift weights a LOT too. I have a low bodyweight and am currently trying to get my weight into the healthy range (am underweight).  In the last 4-6 months I have slowly started noticing darker/more hair where it shouldn't be.  eg. above my lip, chin, side of face, chest, arms, stomach.  It's not too noticeable at the moment (except to me!) but I'm so scared that it'll continue to grow and everyone will be able to see it.  I also thought maybe it was low estrogen causing it and maybe higher weight will = more estrogen = less hair .. ? But I really have no idea.  The doctor said my hormone levels were normal but I don't know if he tested all of them.. I also read about PCOS but I'm not overweight and don't get abdominal pain at all so I dunno.. sorry not to be of much help!

It doesn't matter whether you eat chocolate and sweets vs fruits and vegetables - if you eat more than you expend you'll gain weight and unless you're doing strengthening/weight exercises, the weight will probably go to your stomach FIRST no matter what.  Don't worry about eating a bit of 'unhealthy' food :)

Wow thank you guys so much!  It makes me feel so much more positive about the whole gaining thing hearing that it does get better.  I'm amazed at how it seems like all of a sudden I am actually REALLY wanting to gain weight.. like I'm finally realising how much I've missed out on and how I need to change this now!!
