| Weight Loss | to lose a pound= rmr + physical activity or just physical activity??? | Jan 07 2009 07:26 (UTC) |

i believe the total of 2600 is an estimated total of ALL the calories you will burn in a given day, including your resting calories. it would be highly unusual to burn 4500 calories in a day!! |

| Weight Loss | I think Wii Fit is messing with my head... | Jan 07 2009 07:23 (UTC) |

koshianha is right! i weight myself with both my wii fit and my scales and they are never the same. for one, the wii fit takes into account the possible weight of your clothes, where as most home scales do not. i really wouldn't worry about a kg difference, your weight will probably fluctuate that much or more just between morning and evening. just think you probably eat at least that much weight in food a day, let alone the water you drink etc :) always congratulate yourself for *loosing* not for what the scales actually say. they will never stay at one precise weight. |

i've been using the wii fit a lot. the trick with it is that you can fool yourself that you're getting a good workout when you're not. if a person was to just stick to the balance games and the easier yoga poses then it isn't much more of a workout than standing still for that whole time.
the strength training is also good for burning calories and tightening and toning your muscles. just don't stick to the easy ones!
i try to do at least 30 minutes (in the credit counter) of aerobics a day - sometimes an hour if i'm full of energy. then 30 minutes of the strength training and 30 minutes aerobics. the balance games are really just that - games. so i do those for fun at the end of the day and to clear my mind. the thing with wii fit is if people stick to just the "fun" games in the balance section then it's not going to be a good workout, but if you push yourself and do the difficult aerobics and strenght training then i believe it's as good a workout as you can get at a gym. i think the adverts on TV for the wii fit can be misleading because it's certainly not just wiggling around on a board if you do the right exercises :) i am loosing twice as much weight with 1/2 hours of wii fit per day (weekdays only) than i was with my normal routine and workouts. this was an article and quick "unofficial" study done by a British athlete: http://www.sundaymail.co.uk/news/newsfeed/200 8/04/13/does-wii-fit-the-bill-78057-20381073/ |
