Look, go to Al-Anon. It might not give you all the answers but it will give you good people who are dealing with what you are dealing with. If he chooses to drink and you want a relationship, these guys can help. They will help put everything in focus so you can figure out what is important for you to keep and what you can ignore. They won't change him but if you change a bit, he might. However that isn't a promise, just a possible end. And it is not advice it is a strong suggestion. And no left alone it never gets better with an active drunk, only worse. I know. I'm in AA. |

| Vegetarian | Seitan tastes like... | Dec 20 2008 21:28 (UTC) |

Seitan tastes exactly like whatever broth I cook it in when I make it. It takes on the broth flavor. The texture is whatever I cook it to be from crumbly to firm. I don't buy store bought. I make it for a lot less and suit it to my taste. Right now I have a large bag of "chicken" flavored [light taste] in the refrigerator. |

??? Drain then freeze???? Why? Um, you don't have to drain tofu to freeze it. I simply throw the whole package [water packed] into the freezer then thaw and press before using. Does exactly the same as his method and frankly, it is much easier for me to take the packages from the shopping bag and just toss in. And I always press on a slant board. Why? Drainage. It makes a royal mess if I do it on a plate and doesn't get as nice. All I have to do is elevate my chopping block a bit on one end. Drain the other into the sink. Place on towels or wrap in cheese cloth [if it wants to crumble] put the weight as shown on top [I like my good heavy cast iron skillet personally] and wait until the water stops. |
