I got the Champion brand at target as well.  I love 'em not only because they're so comfy, but you can get them pretty sweating and no one can tell :)

I rowed 1k today....I had every intention of rowing more right after getting water; but, alas, I completely forgot about that until I just sat down at my computer.  I must have been distracted...

At least I'm at an even 14k now!  No bad luck for me Laughing

Well I don't know about "cheap" but I bet Express would have jeans that would fit you.  Depending on the style and if they're on sale, and they almost always have some on sale, I'd say you could get the for $60 or less.  They have short, regular, and long.  Not cheap, but far more affordable than designer jeans, and they're practically made for people without many curves.

That sounds so wonderful!

I would say as long as you allow enough to cool down after running I think its fine.  I wouldn't want to nap with my heart racing....maybe a hot shower then a nap! Smile

I agree that if he doesn't want to play, don't make him.  Quitting the team may or may not have an impact on his college applications.  Even though he won't be playing in college, sticking with a sport all through high school will be a positive element of his application; it will show that he is well-rounded, which a lot of colleges and universities look for.  If he is planning on a liberal arts school well-roundedness is very important to admissions.  But, if football would make him miserable or take focus off schoolwork, by all means he shouldn't force himself to do it.  If he does quit, he should try to replace it.  Either with an additional AP course, another club, a part-time job, anything.  It's possible someone will ask him why he quit in an interview, and if he can show that he is exploring a new activity that he would be interested in continuing in college, odds are admissions officers will be happy to see his initiative.

You could ask for new sneakers!  Since sneakers are hard to buy for other people they can come in the form of a gift card for an athletic shoe store.  Everyone needs good shoes!

"None for me, thanks" will probably work.  The simpler the better.  Saying "I'm watching what I eat" is practically inviting someone to give you are hard time.

Another good one is "I don't want to spoil my nice dinner with ____ tonight" or "_____ made this awesome cheescake that I'm looking forward to after work"...then everyone will just be jealous, and definately understand :)

2x 2k yesterday - 11k total!

It must be something in the air...I've had a lot on my mind lately and erging has just not been a priority.  Also, I'm finally able to run almost every day again so that has become my preference.

IMO 150 and 5'10 is pretty perfect.  Granted it all depends on your body type, but 145 may be pushing it.  If I were you, I'd focus on building muscle and toning rather than losing weight.

I'm 5'8.5 and 140 is the lowest I'd go as an adult.  I went down to 130 a few year back and it was just too small.

Motivation The execution Gap Nov 17 2009
20:16 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure I live in that gap too...

I am the princess of making plans and not following through.  Mostly this has affected me...but it also tends to make me a horrible friend and people think I don't like them :(  It's not true...I like everyone, I'm just bad with plans.

My new plan (ha) as of about 2 days ago is to package up my long-term goals with more immediate plans that I can execute now, as in today.  So, in 10 years I plan on having sold my soul to the federal gov't and being happing. Shorter term I'm training for a PT test and applying to grad school.  Today I'm erging and lifting and downloading all my forms.

BAH I'm so anti-social in this thread this month...I'll work on that.

I'm just posting to say that I'm erging tonight.  If I fail to post my distance tomorrow morning I'll pay for someone to fly here and slap me.

No running will be permitted for maxx tonight and erging will take its place.

Maybe if its out there in the open I'll actually stick to it!

I know what you mean... I haven't met with my recruiter yet, but I'm already excited, nervous, and feeling like a completely different person.

Are you able to train with your friend?  I'm on my own, but a friend of mine from h.s. recently finished his AIT to become a medic and he's coming home for a week or two for the holidays and am squeezing all the help I can out of him!

And now, for my rant...

Its funny, you say you are doing this because it is the right thing to do for your family, which is awesome, and I'm sure you kids will be very proud of you :)

In my case, I am terrified to tell my parents because I don't think they'll want me to join.  Not that they can stop me as I'm out of college and should be moved out anyway.  Thing is, all my life they have said they were proud of me.  I've always gotten good grades, go into my first choice school, never got in trouble...but I'm realizing now that I have never really been proud of myself.  The one thing I know I will be proud of myself for is joining the NG, and I don't think they'll feel the same way Undecided I fear that they'll think I'm not serious about it (granted, I have put off applying to grad school for 2 years) and am making a rash decision.  Maybe I am, but I know its the right one. *sigh*

Anywho, let me know how your meeting with the recruiter goes!

Hi!

I'm planning on joining the Army NG.  I don't have to drop weight, but at this point I am nowhere near the sit-up or push-up standards for the APFT.

Is this a recent decision for you?  I just decided about a week ago.  It's an idea I've been throwing around in my head for a while, but had never seriously considered it until recently.  I think I've always known I would want to join the military, I've just never felt ready or confident enough to actual go through with it.

It would be great if we could keep eachother accountable, good luck!

Where's the November challenge?! Cry

3k yesterday.  I tried out a new strategy for fighting boredom, redundancy, blisters, and shin splits.  Zippy sits right next to the miniature track (18 laps to a mile), and since I get bored erging these days I decided to break it up with a few laps between each 1k.  So this is what I did: run, erg, run, erg, run, erg, run totalling 3k and 1 mile.  1k is much more manageable, and not running a lot at once helps my shin splints.  I did this after lifting and before the rest of my cardio...and it actually worked quite well.

I also find this tactic intimidates those around me. bwahahaha

In other news, I'm on the hunt for a fun sticker because some prankster got all crazy with the label maker and now ALL the cardio machines have names.  Zippy is no longer unique (although still has the only fitting name; imo "Cher" is not a fitting name for an elliptical) and something must be done!

Click "ignore"

Forget about it.  It's not like they get a message saying you ignored their request.

You could also accept but only give them access to a limited profile.  If they want to pursue it and send you a message, either ignore it or send a polite response discouraging future communication.

3k yesterday!  gooooo me!  Shocking, but I actually pulled a decent split (2:18).

Bad news is I did something awful to my knee.  Not sure if it was erging or running, but by the time I left the gym yesterday the top of my knee was numb...and it still is.  It may or may not be a little puffy, but it doesn't hurt at all.  It just feels like a got some local anethetic injected or something; feels just like my mouth felt when I got teeth pulled at the dentist.  I've been poking it with sharp things all morning hoping for some feeling but no...nothing.  Luckily it hasn't spread...it just feels real weird. BOO.

And welcome back mg!
