who in the heck said I was waiting for a magic pill?   wow,  I didn't say I can't control it.  I said I battle with the addiction of craving it.   O and let me tell you that it isn't easy to admit that I am addicted to it.   It's called being honest and real.  I hope you do not live in a glass house.  Your response was wow,  try getting up on the other side of the bed .

A good way to start, if your lost.  OK,  Keep it simple if you don't know what healthy eating is.  Meaning getting back to the basics.  fruits, veggies,  yogurts,  meats for protein.  when I first started the cc I started with~~~

morning~slimfast

snack~ apple carmel rice cake

lunch~slimfast

snack~yogurt

dinner~ lean cuisine

snack~apple

Water, water, water   You can even still add 300 more calories to that diet and be great.   Be careful of calories in your beverages.  Go look and read the other blogs on food topics you will get tons of ideas.....

It is true,   people are so afraid of Atkins.    You will find criticism comes from people voicing their personal   opinion  not  true  knowledge   or expertise on the diet.  It is funny if you think about what we ate that put the 100 lbs. on us.  Some of us are on our death bed,  diabetes, high blood pressure,  clogged arteries.  We lived through that tragic lifestyle abuse.   And for years we kept up that eating abuse.   So if you go on a diet that tells you not to eat rice , pasta ,  sugar,  bread.  by all means relax.......  you will be fine.    Always get a routine blood test,  let your doctor know.  Atkins is never a good thing for thin athletes.  Atkins is for people who need to lose over 70lbs.   As you lose all your fat.  you need carbs for energy.  That is why Atkins adds more carbs the thinner you get.  But,  they teach you what carbs to eat and what carbs to never eat again.  With any diet that you lose weight on,  if you stop and go back to eating the way you did when you were fat.....  well if you always do what you have allways done,  you will always get what you have always gotten.   All diets work!   The trick is to pick which one you will closely follow for the rest of your life.    This is definitely a hot topicWink  I am a emotional binger,   so Atkins works very well for me.  I crave nothing I have no slip ups.  because, I am satisfied.  I am a cyclist and I did a 85 mile ride (hills and flats) on Atkins and I felt like a million bucks.  I was about a month into the diet.  My trainer that day said you have made me a believer.  I will never say another bad thing again about Atkins.  He saw me having no trouble with energy and my emotions and mood were happy and hyper.  Atkins is not for everyone,   but,  their are a lot of people it is a wonderful solution.
All diets teach you what makes you fat.  So if you stop Atkins or cc or anything else that was making you thin,  well you are going to put the weight on.  You are not going to get a different result trying your old food diet.    If you think about what ever diet food routine you have tried in the past,  when you stumbled and cheated and went off your routine,  you saw it quickly on the scale.   Blood tests , your complexion,  just plain how you feel will tell you if the routine is right for you.  Counting calories is a form of diet also.  you can sure screw that up just like any diet.  Not getting your proper nutrients, not eating enough calories. eating to many and still gaining.  Opinions are like as~holes we all have one.  Especially when it comes to what diet is right for someone else.Tongue out

That is what Sansum clinic put me on.  It almost looks like salt.   I tried it for 30 days,  nothing happened for me.  If I remember right it made my tummy feel queasy after drinking it.  Have you tried it?

stwright I needed to hear that.  I have been so sad and frustrated.   Doing everything right and scale went up and down a pound for a week or two.  My mindset was becoming defeated.  It always helps to know that someone else experienced this and conquered it .  Tina

well,  that is the beauty of all this.  the freedom to believe what ever.  just hope you find what works for you.  I loved it because it is not a stimulant,  and fiber is a good thing for ibs to be dependent on,  even if you do not have ibs.  I am off all perscription drugs for ibs now.  I know for me that is healthy.  The drugs never worked anyway.  Just made the pharmacy a little richer.  I can see now why pysillium would be discouraged.  Wink

Weight Loss taking vitamins discourages fat loss?? Jan 15 2009

you know what though....  What sounds really similar to that statement,  is to let your body go after its stored fat for energy.  I have heard from so many doctors that if you eat to many calories or like other diets to many carbs, your body doesn't have to go after it's stored fat for fuel.  Maybe he meant that and he had a brain  ~f%rt~ and said multi vitamin. lol!!!!Undecided

ok,  I tried to digest that on so many levels.  First let me make this clear,  I am not a doctor or medical personel of any kind.  I am not giving advice.  This statement made know since to me.  First of all,  What vitamins we don't need that we have ingested through pill or food is urinated out.  If we stored viamins in our fat and it stayed there tell we needed them then we would'nt need a daily vitamin.  Good nutrition and any supplementation is on a day to day basis.  I am sure there are some vitamins or supplementations that stick around for a certain amount of time.  Like  I get a b12 shot every two weeks.  But, for a doctor to tell you to not take a a multi-vitamin while dieting is a new one for me as well.  I am going to have to look into this.  I love stuff like this,  where you have to figure the logic in that statement.  I will definitely get back with some facts ( still matter of opionion) Sorry for the covering my butt remarks,  I have been petty jumped so many times by sharing things of experience or what works for me.  It's made me not so comfortable to share ideas and opinions without stating what should already be understood while you read threads or bloging.Tongue out

I am not talking about her,  I am talking about the million other people on here sharing their comments that they cannot go the bathroom on their own.  She is not the only one sharing her story on here.   Ofcourse if someones bleeding,  I am not going to tell someone to take anything.    When you leave a comment on here it trails,  It doesn't put my comment in the middle of the threads.    And what I said in no shape or form did it imply for that person to not seek medical help,  If someone is bleeding from their rectum or anywhere else I would hope would have the intelligence to seek medical help.  I get so sick and tired of people taking things out of sorts on these threads.  We all share what works for us.  If everyone took your approach on such a vague comment of taking fiber,  these forums would never work.  We would all being walking on egg shells.  Many people have had the freedom to share different experiences and what worked for them,  I would hope that you can maybe start viewing these blogs/threads  as sharing not medical advice set in concrete.  Wink

bigbitty,   For me all calories are not created equally.   I can eat the same 1200 calories and not lose.  Change up my  1200 calorie foods and bam I will lose.  Things like msg, sodium,  or maybe foods that constipate you.  Also,  if I do artificial sweeteners I will not lose.  I noticed every time I ate at subway I did not lose for 3 days afterwards.  Foods have different effects on us and our weight loss.  So its not enough just to do 1200 and stick to it, If you don't lose look at your food log and try staying away from those foods.  I bet you will lose.

Motivation Please reassure me I'm doing this right- I'm tempted to drop the cals a bit?... Jan 14 2009

I have noticed that all calories are not created equally.  Meaning that there are some foods even though its 1200 calories I dont lose on.  Then I switch up the same 1200 calories with different foods and BAM!  I lose.  Some things have to much sodium, msg, maybe things that constipate you.  try different foods.  Some foods that dont agree with you.  Watch your drinks,  hidden sugars, sodium,  If I do artificial sweetners  they do not agree with me at all.  I wont lose when I drink them.

I know ,  I can't tell you how comforting it is to know you are out there.  I wish you didn't have this trust me (back trouble) .  But I do know exactly what you are feeling to a "T".  I am driving 4 hrs from where I live to go see a Dr.  that thinks he can help me.   FINGERS CROSSED.  my appt. is in about three weeks.  they are calling me back to confirm.  My surgeon told me that there is nothing more he can do for me.  That the digeneration going on in my disks are not operative.  He walked out of the office and gave me no alternative.  I sat there and I could not move.  I cried so hard in the office that day.  I was thinking what just happened in here.  What does this mean for me.  What do I do with the pain.  Such a helpless lonely feeling that day.  No one could really understand what I was going through.

It is little microscopic shells.  The shells clean out your colon,  it pushes everything out like snow removal equipment.  lol  Powder doesn't work.  You will buy it in bag form.  3 tbls. in Luke warm water slam. no taste....  after the 3rd time you will be used to the feel.  After you see what it does for you ,  you wont care how to get it down.  I lost 8lbs,  the first time I took it  that is what was stuck in me from being constipated so long.  btw you can mix it in any drink

omg....  omomof funny... I am 37 and had the same surgery when I was 34,  I now have exactly the same further damage as you.  I got goose bumps when I read your post.  I am now sleeping in a recliner in my room.  I to cannot sleep in a bed or exercise sooooooooooo painful.  I have already taken to the water.  Be so careful.  I hurt myself so bad.  I was moving through the water and was kicking my legs swimming and when my leg kicked up this excruciating pain shot through my lower back.  I started screaming so bad under water.  It scared me so bad.  You will still feel pain in the water.  This has affected me mentally so bad lately.  I can't take the pain anymore.  I am so careful because when you move or do something that doesn't agree with you it hurts so bad.  I miss sleeping with no pain.  My email is luvnhawks@hotmail.com or you can respond to me on here.  I am here for you.  omg do I know what you are going through. I have never met anyone with the same exact diagnosis.  This has changed my life.  I have two beautiful boys.  I live in California.  If you ever need to talk I am here.   I have such compassion for people like us.  people do not understand what we go through.

Weight Loss New year dieters with 100 to loose???? Jan 11 2009
03:54 (UTC)

Hi everyone!!

My name is Tina....  I had a 100 lbs, to lose and now I have lost 20 lbs since dec14 2008.  I have stalled in the last two days.  And then went up one pound,  Not sure why?   Eating very calorie measured food (yogurt, apples,  whole beans and such)  Let me tell you the stall and little gain messed with my gung ho attitude! Noticed I wanted to all of a sudden let down the fences of being dedicated to strict eating.  These are the times I wished I wouldn't have weighed.  But,  I guess it's all apart of the journey.  If it was a one way easy road there wouldn't be any people with over weight issues.  I didn't cheat though and that is a first for me!!!

Pam,  There is no right or wrong what any of us do on here.  Their is only what is right for you.  We are all different.  When I shared my post I was telling you to find a diet with your calories and you will probably lose 2lbs. a week.  If you look on my food log that example day is my optimum food log weight loss day.  Not what I do 7 days a week.  I have to go very low on my calories and exercise or my body does not give up the weight.  Take all opinions on here and try them and see what works for "you"  Following what is set in stone in the diet world is what got me so frustrated for months because I wasn't losing and I was doing everything right. "but to many calories" Even though that's what I was supposed to do.   Gastric by pass people eat very little.  They lose hundreds of pounds.  The medifst shake people eat 800 calories a day in liquids.   We have plenty of fat on our bodies we are not going to starve.  You want your body to go after that stored fat for fuel,  Don't let it have all of it from your food.  And eating all my foods from a "b" list that was me sharing with you what I do :: not:: what you should do.  I want to do really well its my choice to eat from A :a: list and :b: list  >   my body deserves the best!

ok ,  phew...... big question.  First of all,    I mean are you  really going to talley up all those those numbers everyday.   This is what you do.  You figure out what your bmr is.  Then you enter it in the computer.  It will tell you how many calories to eat everyday.   Most will talley up your calories to lose 2 lbs. a week.  If you want a little more you can lower them a little.   The thing is the more you weigh,  and you clean up your nutrition and start moving everyday you will lose more then 2 lbs. a week.    I would not get to crazy clinical at the begining.   There is a place on here to look up your foods (calories)  spend some time looking up different things you like.  Write it down on a paper.  Then every night enter in your foods, it will talley up your calories for the day for you.   It will give you a grade by the foods you pick,  I do not pick anything under a grade of a "B"  You will actually be able to click on the foods and it will add it to your food log.   My A+ days includes=  small avocado in the morning,  2hrs later apple,  2hrs later yogurt,  2hrs later sm. avocado.  2hrs later bowl of whole beans.  The avocados are great for weight loss.  They are beautiful for the good fat  and loaded with vitamins.  I am stuffed after I eat one.  I sprinkle a little salt and eat it out with a spoon.  Everyday that I follow that day I lose 2 lbs a day.  I hope I didn't confuse you.  I am better on a phone or in person.  It's hard to keep my thought process going in the right direction while typing.  The big key is to pick a certain number of calories you want to eat,  then find all these foods to spread it out all day.  So your eating all day long.  But there little portions.  Your never hungry.... You will start eating less and less.  When I do that 3 meals a day business I could eat the back end off a car lol!!!!!  Tina

I like to buy poster boards.  Then I decorate it really happy and festive.  I do 10 lb, boxes.  All the boxes are there all the way down to how much weight I want to lose. My goal weight.... Each 10 lbs.  I lose I put a great sticker in the box .  I change up everything every 20 lbs I lose.  Meaning exercise,  What I eat,  even a new pair of jeans.  It makes it fun and different and I have to be creative.  I take my old fat jeans and I hang them in the garage, right beside each other.   ON THE WALL THEY ARE NAILED! So I can see the transition and how fat I was.  So when I come and go through the day it motivates me.   I love to hang a new pair on the wall.    You need to be you and be creative,  have fun do something out of the ordinary.  It will help you through the tough times.  Do not punish yourself,  we have already done that by becoming so over weight.   Our poor little bodies..... Postive or negatively we need to lose.  You deserve to be happy and nice to yourself.  So be funny, happy and creative and get going and keep going.  How exciting when you reach the day you will lose all your weight.  luv, Tina Wink
