Original Post by silentdeadlyrose: I'm more curious if she would just like a zipper put in......well, nevermind. Do I think it's crazy? Absolutely. Would I ever do it? Heavens no! But really, is it bothering me? No. Am I having to support or take care of them? No. Are they expecting handouts of any type or on any government support? Nope. So while I may not get it or care to ever do anything like that, realistically it doesn't bother me. The children are supported, well care for, educated and seem to truly care for each other. More power to her and her family for being able to do it and make for happy, healthy, polite children. I would never die my hair blond, but I have nothing against them...LOL |

I'm 5'6. I started at 212 in Jan, but am now down to 166. Initial goal was to hit 160, but now that I'm so close, the 150's kinda sound nice... |

Sorry I've been a little quiet lately, but I'm back! First I had my birthday and my "treat" was to take the day (or two) off the gym....not so much to avoid the gym, but to allow me to lounge around in my pajamas all day and do a lot of not much. Then of course the hubby took me out to dinner. Unfortunately life got in the way and I got called into jury duty and couldn't hit the gym again. From there, I realized I was majorly cranky and was getting the munchies awfully bad.....and realized TTOM was kicking in a week or 2 early. That just mad me mad because now I feel crappy from that and wanting to avoid the scale (which I have), but its also the final weigh-ins for Biggest Loser 12 challenge and I was 1lbs away from hitting my goal.....I have no idea if I hit it or not (certainly doesn't feel like it with all this bloating), but I'm too scared to get on the scale to see for sure either way....I am waiting until tomorrow, the last day, to hope....and hope.....and hope. SO! welcome back to life now..... :) I have signed up for BLC 13 and am hoping to find my motivation again. My last weight of 166 put me just 6lbs away from my orginal goal of 160 that I set in January when I was 212lbs.....I don't want to give up or fail now after coming so close, that's for sure! So my goals are back on track and finish what I started....6 more pounds!!! (or more now, who knows...LOL) I CAN DO THIS!!!! |

I guess maybe the better way to direct this thread would be this..... When you are sick of drinking water and need something once in awhile to break it up, what are the next best choices? Conversely, whats the LAST thing you should go for? I've been doing goo sticking to water, but once in awhile I crave something sweet, so I do one of the Crystal Light things to mix in my water bottle. More of a treat once or twice a week, nothing regular. I particularly like the Wild Strawberry flavor. |

Thank you for everyones suggestions. I appreciate you all taking the time to try and help me out! Here is a little more information on where I'm at. Running outside is not going to work for me. I live on a little outlet dead end road in the country rght off of a major 2 lane highway. There are no sidewalks, no neighborhoods and no low traffic areas. Additionally, I have 2 small children under the age of 3, so I can't bring them with me and I feel it too unsafe to run at night on a highway. Additionally, I HAVE signed up for my first 5K next month. I have started slow and tried to add a little at a time in order to build up to that distance. This is how I have discovered this little barrier. I am running out of time and have been added distance to my runs. I will run the 1 1/2 miles, then walk .25 mile, run .25 mile, walk.....etc. I have tried running the 1 1/2 slowly to save energy, I have tried to build a little speed every lap to build strength, I have tried to run it fast so I have only run a short time. I really have tried mixing it up everyway I can think of and regardless of what I do, everytime I hit that 1 1/2 marker, I feel blah. I know it's just all in my head. I'm not gonna give up though! I AM dong the 5K next month and I WILL get thru it somehow. With it being my first race, my goal is merely to show up and finish it, one way or another. My secondary goal is to finish in under an hour. My "dream" goal that is seemingly impossible, but still really want, is to do it in 45 minutes. I'm not specifying a "only running" pace or anything. We will see. First efforts give me something for comparision on a second effort later. :) Thanks again for your help! |

Be honest, this is a big deal and a deal breaker. If he definitely wants kids and you don't, break the relationship off......better now then later. You guys will just get married and he will keep pushing for kids and you will just argue. Either he will convince you to do something you don't want to, and you'll resent him and the child, or he will realize you aren't willing to be parents.....either way, it's a pretty good shot at a divorce. It may hurt now, but its better then a divorce later. |

Team: Blue Team After 2 weeks of pretty big losses (for me anyway), I was not expecting much. Hopefully my body will let me have one more good week for the end. My goal for this challenge was to hit 160, but at this point, I'll take 165. Good luck everyone with the final push! Total loss: 10 lbs |

Nikki-thanks for all your work in keeping track of the numbers, especially in light of how this particular challenge has worked out. I'm frustrated, but determined to finish, because isn't that the point of it all...? I would be willing to give this one more go around and would sign up for BLC13. I think the other challenges sound interesting too....serves as a regular reminder for what we are doing and give us another chance to have a positive week, even if the scale disagrees. The logistics, however, would be your department as that would be WAY too much thinking for me. LOL |

Unfortunately, my chest was the first thing to start shrinking with my weight loss and, I think, one of the most noticeable places I have lost (along with my face/cheeks). I started as a 40D and am now a 36C....barely.....I'm guessing I will be a B before long. :( |

Well just got back in town.....weigh in is 166....woo hoo!! Hope everyone has had a good week. I'm still pushing to do a 5K next month and I'm happy to announce that I have been regularly finding my treadmill 3 times a week.....the race really helped establish a clear goal with a clear deadline, makes it much harder to cheat or skip out. |

My mini goal is to stay focused this week. My husband will be gone all week due to business, so I'm left home alone to tend to the children.....and when it's just me and them, its so easy to stray....so I want to shoot for 1-2 group fitness classes this week and finding the treadmill 2-3 times. I want to not hit a restaraunt once this week due to "convienance"....I need to prepare all the meals at home. Healthier and cheaper! As for low cal recipes....hmmm. I am coming up blank right now, but I can cover some of my snacks that are low cal. Honey wheat pretzel sticks and strawberry cream cheese. You can eat about 24 pretzels and 1 serving of cream cheese for the 300 calories or so. For lunch I eat 3 slices of hard salami (100 cal) and 1 slice of low fat Provolone cheese (50 cal) with a banana (approx 100 cal) and a glass of watered flavored with Wild Strawberry Crystal Light (10). Pretty satisfying, covers some different food groups and gives me a little sweetness from the drink for 260 calories. 1 bag of 100 cal popcorn popped and then sprinkled with a little cocoa powder. Frozen blueberries you can eat forever and rack up very little calories. Not exactly what you were looking for, but its something! Good luck this week ladies! |

I weigh weekly, so that's fine with me. My new motivation as of late is to run my first ever 5K. I'm looking for any and all pointers on training, so if you've ever done one, I'd love to hear about it. Hope the week went well for all, stay strong thru the weekend. Being the moms, we are usually in charge of the meals, so NO EXCUSES!!! Grab veggies to snack on, cut up fruit to throw in the fridge and don't buy those potato chips....we can do it!!! |

Man do I hear you guys about having a more supportive spouse who would watch the kids while I attempt to do this....LOL I found the greatest deal in my area at a local gym. They allow you to purchase group classes, say 20 of them, and you can go to any class they teach with them. They give you 6 months to use them too. Nice! It might be something to ask your local gyms or Y's about and see if they would set it up for you....that's how this one started and now its something available to anyone. Additionally, they provide child watch....for FREE!!!!....while you are doing the class. Really. I do it in the midmornings while the hubbie is at work and we all win...I get my workout, the kids are occupied and its not taking away from family time. One of the classes that they do is a weights class. Now I know nothing about machines, but understand the importance of getting it into my workouts. This weights class they do is really great for me because they use light hand weights (I only use the 5lbs, but others are using 20) and they change muscle groups every 5 minutes or so and you just pump out reps til you switch. They will count out a rhythm, go slower sometimes or fast, occassionally pulse, whatever. I really feel those 5lbs by the end of the class! Bicep curls, Triceps dips, squats, lunges, forearms, tummy, obliques, back, shoulder, rotator cuff....you name it, they hit it! I think it would probably be something simple enough to do at home too. Grab some gallon jugs of milk and go for it. I love it and just started doing it 1-2 times a week to start building strength. |

I too am getting ready for my first 5k. Personal goal for me, especially since I'm not a natural runner. I also have only done the treadmill. I have about 8 weeks to go and have never done anything like this before, so any tips or suggestions would be great! I looked at the c25k website and did not like what they had for beginners....20 miles a week for training!!!! My mind has a hard time contemplating I need that much running to train for 3 miles....I also do not run anywhere near that amount now. Honestly, I've only gone for 3 miles a handful of times at this point. Pointers...? |

I'm back!!!! I had a great vacation, but this thread was the last one I came back too....LOL I didn't work out on my vacation, but definitely walked around a ton more then usual, so I think that was a wash. I also didn't watch too closely what I ate, but in hindsight I realize I didn't eat that much and made great decisions anyway (no alcohol even!!!) I figure I probably ate around maintanence for the week and it was probably the shock to my system that it needed. I weighed in the week before I left for vacation and weighed when I came home....down 3lbs!!! I'm thrilled and am just trying to find my routine again now that I'm home. I've made it to 2 group fitness classes already and I really missed them. I feel the soreness from the short time off and plan to pick up some extra weight classes to get that going. I'm happy that someone else has taken on the responsibility of doing updates on the main thread....it's nice to show off how well Blue Team is doing. :) Let's keep it up, we are halfway there!!! Here's to a good week for all!! GO BLUE!!! |

I am back from my trip and ready to jump into this group!! It couldn't have been better timing either as I have noticed the Biggest Loser Challenge 12 has basically died, so I'm thrilled to have a chatty bunch to be accountable to! So I'm a mostly SAHM of 2 wonderful kids, 1 of which is 3 and the other is 1. They're sweet, they're busy and they're mine. LOL My start weight was 212lbs in January. I really noticed the problem when a family member had a wedding and I had to order a size 18W dress...and that was a size smaller then recommended because I couldn't bring myself to thinking I really needed a 20. From there I also noticed how I looked in the mirror and how exhausted I was just walking from the parking lot into the store with the kids. I decided I needed to set a proper example for my kids and pray that I did not become the mother that they would be embarrased of. So here I am at 173lbs and feeling great!! Clothes are fitter so much better and I feel so much more attractive! My original goal weight when I started was 160lbs and let me tell you....that felt so impossible 8 months ago and now here I am, just 13lbs away! I don't know if I will hit it or want to go further or what....who knows!!! I'm just thrilled I've gotten this far and see what happens from here. For reference points n my life, I graduated high school around 140lbs, got married 6yrs ago at 168lbs, pregnant with my first child around 185lbs, delivered in June 06 at 225lbs, pregnant with my second at 210lbs, delivered in June 08 at 250lbs!!!!. My goals this week are to get back on track. This last week I was on vacation and honestly didn't watch anything. I need to get back on track of my 1300-1500 calorie intake and get back to my group fitness classes. I'm hoping to hit 2 classes this week and try to find the treadmill again for a night or 2. Nothing major, just finding my routine again. Since I've started, I've been most excited that the little man on the Wii no longer calls me "obese", just "overweight"....I'll take small victories where I can find them! Also, I finally broke down and bought myself a new pair of jeans, something I literally haven't done since before I was pregnant with my oldest, and actually got a size 12! I haven't been that size since high school!!! Finally, I was most thrilled with this journey when I finally got out of my maternity jeans, that I LIVED in ever since I put them on early second trimester with my oldest....I never lost the weight in between to use a zipper and button. I'm pathetic, but honest....LOL |

So you can log your weight -- which allows you to do the following:
- Plot your weight curve
- Analyze the trend of your weight (see under Recent in the figure above)
- Determine the projected target date (see under Overall in the figure above)
