I breastfed both of my daughters till their first birthdays.  They are 3.5 and 1.5 now.  I slowly cut out feedings as well to where she would nurse in the morning, then eat baby food for breakfast, lunch and dinner (with a sippy of water) then nurse at night.  With my first child we cut out morning feeding first, with my second we cut out the night one first.  It was just what seemed easier and what I thought each preferred (my second never needed to comfort feed to be put to sleep...she didn't even want to be held...just put her in the crib and she rolls right over to go to sleep).  Lose one feeding every few days to help you from becoming engorged.  At the end we even did one nursing session every other day so I wouldn't be hurting or leaking.  A few weeks before the first bday we introduced milk in a sippy cup.  My girls got bottles of breastmilk when I was working, nursed when I was home and once we stopped breastmilk at one year, it was nothing but sippies with whole milk or water (and eventually diluted juice).  If you don't put the whole milk in bottles, they'll never associate the two.  We also started restricting the paci at one year and had them both off it by 15 months.  If you need more info, just ask.

Not sure if the pics will work, can't get on my photobucket account at work.  But I have lost all the weight and then some and my stomach still looks hideous.  I definitely have diastatis recti though.  I tried doing all the exercises from Ms. Tupler and it is just too aggravating.  It's all just loose skin that will not go away.  I am 5'3", 115.  Badge of honor after two kids.  Mine are 3 and 1 now.  Just wanted you to know you're not alone :)

I don't think it's a big deal to aim for a lower BMI as long as you realize that you're not fat at your current weight and that you need to lose weight slowly.

I agree with pp statement.  I am 28, 5'3", 115lbs.  My original goal was 120 but like you, I wasn't happy with my body still when I hit that.  I had my second child a year ago and even though I lost all the baby weight and then some, I have those same thoughts about my body and all its flaws.  I wasn't even this low in high school and college and yet I'm less confident now then I was then.  It's totally from kids, I can't bear my midriff because of the loose skin and stretchmarks.

I have the same thoughts as you and constantly contradict myself (I am fat and need to workout more...no, I look great and am healthier than I've ever been!)  I will eat a little over maintenance and go do some squats in the bathroom at work just to try to burn it back off.  I have been at 115 for almost 2 months now but I still think about losing more because like you, I am just not satisfied with my body image.  I did realize that my image is definitely distorted.  I just recently had to give measurements for a bridesmaid dress and when she told me I was ordering the same dress size as two girls that I THOUGHT were WAY tinier than me I realized that I am tiny too, I just don't appear that way to myself.

Just wanted to say that I too have those feelings (and then tell myself I'm a lunatic for feeling that way) but as long as you don't let it become ED behaviors-starving, bingeing etc.  I think it is ok.  Just keep working on giving yourself a more positive image...I know that's what I need to do too!

I am in the SAME boat as you (5'3", went from 130 to 115) and now get dizzy lots.  I am almost sure it is anemia as both of my toddler daughters are anemic.  I also pass out when getting my blood drawn.  I also get muscle twitches/spasms.  Maybe I will start taking a supplement, although I also know too much iron is harmful as well.  Guess I have to get tested, which goes back to getting blood drawn...oh boy.

I am 5'3", 115lbs. which was my goal.  I contemplated losing more but I decided I'm just going to focus on toning up as much as possible and if it results in weight loss, great; if not, fine too.  What are your goals besides getting to 105?  Like, do you want to be in a smaller size pants?  Or be able to wear a bikini without stomach pudge?  Maybe pick a goal other than a weight and see if that helps PUSH you in the right direction.  I think adding weight training/circuit training is a great way to build muscle/add definition since that's probably the point you are at too (not much fat left to lose).  Good luck!

Calorie Count Is the activity counter inaccurate?? May 22 2009

calorie count actually subtracts out those calories already burned in that hour.  try it out.  note your burn meter, add the hour of activity and the total added should be less than what the activity amount was (hopefully by 72 cals).

I work full time and have two toddler girls so if I can't workout at naptime on my days off I have to do it when they are up!  I use my jogging stroller for a 3 mile run to the park then do squats while helping them on the see-saw, pull ups on the monkey bars, lunges walking across the park while they play.  Oh and on rainy days the girls love doing squats in the house (I hold them under the armpits and squat and press them up!) and also put them on my shins for some added weight during crunches.  If you have an open field you can get the kids to play red light/green light but take turns being the caller (so you are doing the sprints half the time!)  Tag is great for cardio (especially if you have older/faster kids).  Calf lifts off the edge of the land ties (hold a baby for added weight).  Make an obstacle course (older kids) and have a stopwatch to race each other's times through it.  Tricep dips off the benches.  Um, I'm sure there's more.  I squeeze it in wherever I can!

Hi, I started in January too at 130 and am down to 115 (27yo, 5'3").  I NEVER had a deficit of 1000 and only rarely had 500.  I also fluctuated from day to day...1500 one day, 2000 the next.  I think I was doing the 'cycle calorie counting' without even knowing it and it worked for me.  I think as long as your body is kept on its toes, it keeps trying to work more efficiently.  But the minute it figures out what you're doing (again, my own theory here) it can manage on less calories or burn less cals on the same length run, etc.  So, to answer your question, I have lost adequately on much smaller deficits than 500-1000.  Oh, I also workout 4-6 days a week too.  HTH.

I got my period when I cut down to two feedings a day at 11 months with my first daughter.  I stopped feeding her a little after her 1st birthday.  My second daughter will be 1 in 2 weeks and, just like last time, I got my period a month ago when we cut down to two feedings a day.  I've been on the mini pill since 3 months post partum and after getting that 'first' period, I am now finishing up the next pack and still no sign.  I am freaking out...so not ready for another kid yet!  Are you using any other protection?  I guess I would take a test to be sure (I think I may this weekend!)  If BFN then maybe your body is just getting used to no hormones and it will regulate itself soon.  G/L!
