Motivation Lose a little exercise alot! Jan 19 2009

Aaarrrggghhh.  2 weeks, lost one pound, gained it back.  Net ZERO.  It is still my period so I am hoping that when that is over, I'll see come change on the scales.  But it is still discouraging to work so hard and see NOTHING.  My husband says he really thinks he can see the diff in my clothes.  Anyone got anything to say to help me not fall off the wagon and eat a bag of Cheetos with a bottle of wine today?!?  Grrrrr.

Awesome, ras...was level one a piece of cake before you moved to 2?  I can do 1 now, without dying (been about 5 days, maybe 6, I'm not doing them in a row), it's hard, but doable.  Maybe I should move up?  Not sure.  I STILL can't do the push ups, but I'm not far out from breast augmentation, so that's just going to take time.

Other questions for all...what is your typical pre-menstrual weight gain?  I am just sure I'm losing a bit, but remain frozen at my original weight...I started this the week before my period, and this week is the week of.  I'm am hopeful that not GAINING, or seeing a higher number on the scales may mean I actually AM losing, but won't see it for another week or so, when the PMS water weight subsides.  Thoughts?  I'm working too hard to see nothing!

Now that Burn Meter thing TOTALLY annoys me.  The little top number indicates (or so I've been told) the total number of cals you must have to exist, and move about according to the activity level you selected.  Subtract 500 cals per day from that?  THAT is your top cal goal to lose 1 pound per week.  The big number on the Burn Meter presumably tells you from midnight to midnight how many cals you're burning, according again to the little survey you filled out about age, weight, activity level, etc.  If you add an exercise, the cals burned will be reflected there.

You should put your top cal goal in the other meter, the one about food intake, and that will be reflected in the top little number, the bottom big number will be a running total of what you've consumed.  Clear as mud?  Why there is not some little meter that just takes your top cal goal, and tells you when you've hit it, I've no idea.  But good for you, already losing more than a pound!  Welcome to the group, how much are you looking to lose?

Don't feed your children while hungry.  You'll end up scarfing 600 cals in pbj crusts and bites of mac and cheese.  And STILL be hungry for something better.

Did I miss something?  "Afraid" of what the docs will say?  Are you ill?  And here's to your getting that work out in, I'm hoping to do mine within the hour...running today though, not the shred.

Had lost a pound as of Day 5 last week, but back up one today.  I am thinking/hoping it is water retention, expecting period any day.  Maybe in a week or so, I'll have something good showing on the scales...

Let us know how you are,

Oh, P.S.  I have found that the "ritual" of getting the glass out, but just pouring up a diet soda with crushed ice, or a sparkling water/fruit juice thing goes a long way towards satisfying that habit at "that" time of day.  It ain't the real thing, but there really is a ritual that involves the glass, the feel, the pouring...OK, now I sound like I need to go to Betty Ford!

OK.  Now I know I'm not alone!  I love my wine, really, I do.  I also stay home with four children ALL day every day, as we homeschool.  I'm telling you, thinking I can have some wine when I start dinner is like picturing a vacation...something that breaks up the day and releases a little tension.  I am currently working on moderating better, counting the calories in the drinks, logging them in my food log, to see the real picture, and am considering (CONSIDERING) going wine free during the week, and saving for the weekends.  My husband is doing this with me, the only way I think I could change my habits, as he wants to lose like, 30 pounds.  And he knows, as I do, once we staring having wine, those are not only empty cals that slow the metabolism, but it greatly reduces our will power to not over eat at night.  It really is a double edged sword.  But I also don't think that totally depriving ourselves of favs (as long as you keep your history of alcoholism in mind, I have to, also) is productive in the long run.  As a girl who lost her first ever 15 pounds at age 19 by Slim-fasting solely for a month and walking 2 miles daily (and lost it all in a month), and then went through young-mid adulthood having 4 babies and trying every "diet" on the planet to lose the baby weight, I have finally learned (I think!) at 38 that I will never stick to anything extreme.  Also, my 11 year old daughter deserves a better example than that.  I am at 143, 5'5" (2-3 pounds are my new breasts thankyouverymuch as they were DESTROYED by 5 years of breastfeeding!) and am aiming for 135.  Only 8 to go (aren't they the hardest!), and I'll probably stop there as that seemed reasonably maintainable before the last baby, who is nearly 2.  We'll see.

Sorry to go on and on, but hopefully you can see you're not alone!  I can't figure out how to do the "friend" thing, but if you can, we can continue conversation and checking on each other if you like.  An accountability buddy always helps.  Have a great day!

Alright, speaking as a 38 yr. old mom to FOUR, who vaguely remembers being your age, and only about 5 pounds heavier then (117), I might be too envious to communicate any further with you on this forum. Tongue out  I read you're not interested in losing more weight, but in the exercise?  That sounds like a really healthy outlook.  Although I'm working down a few pounds, really, I want to get in good shape, heart and lungs and muscle tone.  I figure the two can come together.  And bonus news for me on a Friday morning?  I am down ONE POUND since only Monday!  Great encouragement not to blow it over the weekend.  Hope your weekend is great...and as far as my little bio pic goes?  I don't always wear goofy cowboy hats...my 13 yr. old took that pic a couple of years ago, and insisted I use it.  He likes it!

Seriously?  Good for you.  Not being sarcastic.  I'm hoping my children make it til at least 20, if they're not married.  No matter what anyone says, there is no rush.  Take your time.  Ignore the haters.

First, I'm jealous! You are where I was 8 (gulp!) years ago, after the birth of our 3rd baby.  My highs were 135-137, my ideal was 125-128.  Now?  Not to scare you, I promise, but at just turned 38, and having had our 4th baby 20 months ago, I am at 144, and HOPING to reach 135.  If I can without tremendous struggle, then I may see about going lower.  I always said when I was your age, I would never let it creep up on me just because I was GETTING OLDER!!!  Ha.  Well, it really wasn't that, it was the pregnancy, a very sick one that allowed only poor nutrition and bedrest.  So.  Here I am.  I'd love to buddy with someone in the 10 lbs and under range, because although we're very blessed to have "so little" to lose, it can be the toughest part of losing.  Those last 5-10 can be killers!  And I LOVE my evening wine, which is totally non-productive!

I started the Shred.  Very hard.  Burns 2-300 cals in that grueling 20 min. session.  Embarrassingly, level 1 kicks my @ss!  Today decide to not do it alone, but do it 3X week, and start the Couch to 5K the other 3 days.  Today is only my 3rd day trying to really get the last of this weight off (had cosmetic surgery in Sept., correcting nastiness from 4 c-sections, but that's another story), and I really want to stay motivated.  Sharing the road would be nice.

Fitness Burn Meter, AGAIN! Jan 07 2009

OK, so if I get you, the little number in the burn meter would be the cals I require to MAINTAIN, and if I take 500 away from that, I'll start losing.  Thanks so much.  I guess that means there is NOT a counter that will hit my calorie number that is the number to LOSE weight.  Never good when I have to do anything in my head, but I'll give it a try!

Thanks again.

Just started 30DS...done 2 days in a row (I know.  Whoo.)  Am considering doing it 2-3 times/week, and beginning Couch to 5K the other 3 days.  Want to lose 9 pounds.  Too lazy to do 30 DS AND run on same days...but then again, that's a thought.

I know this is the lounge, but seriously, some young kids are here.  Is this necessary?

Hi yall...another newbie.  Is anyone doing the 30 day shred?  I started Monday...I want to get down not many pounds, but seemingly the toughest - the LAST.  I've had 4 children, and they are now nearly 2 to just turned 13.  And we homeschool, so carving out time for me is tough.  Look forward to tracking progress, and hearing your tales.  My weakness?  Wine.  Determined to stop wine during the week, and save for the weekends to hopefully charge up metabolism and stop with the empty calories.
