Weight Loss Coffee and weight lose Mar 24 2009

I like coffee and I am all for it, but not as a weight loss tool. The point (hopefully) of losing weight is to get healthy. Doing that with a "substance" isn't the best way of going about it and it isn't teaching yourself healthy habits. It is about a life change and behavior changes....finding some easy way of doing it won't last long. I say drink your coffee, but workout, make good food choices and in the long run it will work out better.

It is one lunch, it is just one day. Don't let it derail byou, but think about this the next time you're driving by sonic. At the very least, take yourself and the kid to a subway instead. Finding alternatives like that can help you out calorie wise and just feeling better about yourself mentally.

We've all been there.

Fitness I just joined a gym... Any suggestions? Mar 23 2009

You should first of all check to see if your gym offers any sort of orientation that will show you how to safely use the equipment, both aerobic and weight machines. If you're doing it wrong, you probably shouldn't be doing it at all :)

I've gotten suggestions of doing 15 minutes on different machines, a treadmill, bike and elliptial, or try a class....it could be a surprise to you.

Does working on an ellipticle help, since there is less impact on the foot? How about swimming?  That does stink when  an injury takes you out of the game like that!

I think that once I hit a goal or feel good about it, the maintainence part just falls off. I do well until I am where I want to be, then I "give up" thinking the work is over....not so, not so.

I just have to stay motivated and keep it fun.

I agree that it would be hard to take someone approaching me telling me I am doing something wrong, but education would be key here. Perhaps approach the staff about hosting a seminar/class specifically for women and weight lifing?
