Hey guys,

I am in the UK so I can't be very helpful about where to buy clothes, but I've found buying really carefully is helpful. I was 190 when I started, and I'm 171 now but I managed to buy a lot of clothes that I can keep wearing as I lose weight, like a couple of floaty summer dresses with ties at the back that I can just tie tighter as I lose wieght (the kind that are almost see through with an underdress that shows at the neckline - I just replaced the underdresses with white cotton slips in the size smaller) and a couple of tunics to wear over jeans which are fitted enough to look good, but when I lose weight I can wear as dresses (benefit of being short - tunics are not indecently short when I wear them as dresses! they are knee length!). I've also gone for stretch fit tops, cardigans that look fine a bit loose, and a really good belt to cinch in loose trousers. Plus I never use to tuck tops into my trousers, but I've started to do that with a couple of looser floaty tops I got for work, which makes up for them being a bit baggy. I've had to replace jeans and black trousers though - its unavoidable sadly, but I've gone for simple and cheap, since I've got plenty of tops that will keep fitting for at least another 20lbs of weight loss.

Edited to add - I also find it helpful to buy skirts with wide waistbands (no beltloops or anything) which are snug at the waist, as losing a couple of inches means that the sit comfortably where most low waisted skirts would sit. Only works for certain shapes though, the more loose, flowing shapes, and is best with just above knee length.

Thanks for the tips.  I think I'm going to look for black trousers that are stretchy or maybe even ones that have an elastic waist.  Someone should really come out with a clothing line for women on a diet - all adjustable clothing.

Yeah, I'm really not looking forward to spending money on something that if everything goes according to plan, I won't be wearing very long.  I also have to wear short sizes because of my short legs so it's a real pain to find ones that fit right.  The cheap stores rarely ever have short or petite sizes and at some stores the short sizes are still too long.  My jeans are all pretty stretchy so I can still wear them for a while I just need some work pants.  I have heard that sizes have changed over the years but I haven't really experienced it.  At what point did they change?  I think wedding dresses must all be on the old sizing system because you normally wear a wedding dress that is 2 sizes larger than your normal size.  I always thought it should be the opposite, who wants to spend hundreds or thousands on a dress that makes them feel fat?

I gained a pound last week so this isn't really as good as it looks but I'll take it.  I think I've totally lost a dress size though, my size 12 pants are getting very loose.  Have any of you gone down a size yet and if so, where is a good place to get some cheap pants? :)

Have you tried the light ranch instead of the Fat Free?  That's what I use and I like it.  I use the Wishbone brand.  I've wanted to try so many other types of dressing but have been afraid that I would hate them.

Good Morning all and congrats to all of you on your losses.  I'm a little bummed this week.

Start - 154

LW - 144

TW - 145

Size - 12 - I wore some of my size 10's this weekend!

I was pretty bad over the weekend and then I did a killer workout to try to save myself, apparently it didn't work.  My weight has gone down from yesterday, must have been the water weight from my sore muscles.  I'm going to try to exercise like crazy this week and lose as much as possible.  I really wanted to be in the 130's by my birthday (March 24th).  I need to kick it up a notch for that to be possible.  Keep up the good work ladies!

Linz78 I also am very sore from a workout and I'm wondering (hoping) I am retaining water.  Anyone know how much you can retain after a workout and how long it will last?  As of this morning, I do not think I am going to have a good weigh in tomorrow.

Some of the five footers up there must have really small legs and butts... cause I'm 5'0, 157 lbs and I wear a size 12.

I am 5'0", weigh 176lbs, and wear a 13/14. And I by NO MEANS have small legs and/or a small tush!!! everyone's bodies look differently. That's probably why you weigh so much less than me and wear almost the same size. Back in the day when I was 140, I was wearing size 6, and even further back in the day when I was 115, I was wearing size 0-5 (any and all sizes in between there), mainly 1's and 3's (boy do I WISH now)...

So, it's all relative. But I'm not lying and I don't want you to think i;m making this up lol

I'm 5'0'' and weigh 144lbs and wear a size 12 (although these are becoming loose, I may try 10's soon).  I think that we all just carry our weight differently.  I carry the majority of my weight in my stomach so I think that is why I wear a size that seems to be larger than girls with a similar height and weight.

I'ld go see your doctor about this, there has to be another method of birth control that you can use, nuvaring maybe?  Pulling out is not effective at all, I wouldn't even risk it if I were you.

Most of the all-inclusive resorts in Cancun have at least five restaurants, there is enough variety that it shouldn't get boring.  I think that Playa del Carmen is a little less crowded than Cancun, it's just a few miles from Cancun.  I stayed at the El Dorado Royale which was an all inclusive couples only resort - their sister resort - El Dorado does allow children and I assume that it is not very crowded.  We went in September and there were times that my husband and I were alone at the beach but you have to be very careful with hurricane season, which is why this is the off season.

Yeah!!! My 2 pound gain earlier this week was just water weight.  I've lost 10 pounds so far.  My goal is to get under 140 by my birthday, March 24th.  In order to do this, I will have to lose more than 1 pound one of these weeks - hope I can do it.  Congrats to all of you - you're doing great!

The part that makes me mad is that I was on my period last week when I weighed less, I was expecting this to be a good weigh in for me.  I ate salty food the day before I weighed myself though so I'm hoping it was water weight - we'll see tomorrow.  The most important thing for all of us is to not give up, as long as we never give up we will eventually reach our goals.

I'm hiding too, I got on the scale yesterday and it said I had gained 2 pounds.  I haven't done bad enough to warrant a 2 pound gain so I'm just being as good as possible and dodging my scale for a while - I'll weigh again tomorrow.

Start Weight - 154 (01/01/09)

LW - 146

TW - 145

Size - 12

It's TTOTM so I'm not really sure if my weight is correct, it has really been fluctuating the past couple of days.  I tried Jillian Michaels' 30 day Shred on Monday and I have been sore the last two days.  I'm so out of shape.  Have any of you tried this video?  I have it free on cable "On demand" - there are several other videos there if any of you have this cable service.  Congrats to all of you have lost weight and good luck to everyone for next week.

Drink light beer - Miller Light, Budweiser Select and Coors Light are all about 100 calories a beer.  MGD 64 is o.k. but the alcohol content is about half what light beer has.  DONT eat the junk food - just about every bar will have a salad or something acceptable for you to order.  If you drink water and take ibuprofen before bed, you won't get a hangover.  As mentioned above, if you zig-zag your calories throughout the week, you can manage to have one higher calorie day (party night).

prettyjuicyc: I'm sorry to tell you but in order to lose 25 pounds by March 18th, you would need to lose about 4 pounds a week which is not really healthy or possible.  The most they say you can safely lose is 2 pounds per week which would be 12 pounds by March 18th.

Congrats! Most women gain way too much weight when they are pregnant because they think they can eat whatever they want.  As long as you keep eating healthier foods, everything you gain with the baby should be lost right after you have the baby.  Eat 300 calories over your maintenace calorie target and you'll be fine.  If you breastfeed, you will lose a ton right away too.  Also, the book "What to Expect When You are Expecting" has some information about diet and nutrition when you are pregnant and I think it has recipes too.

SW - 154 lbs.

Dress Size - 12

Goal - 105 lbs. - size 4

I'm really happy with the loss because I was not very good over the weekend.  I probably would have done more celebrating if the Cardinals had won ( I live in Arizona) so I guess I have something to thank the Steelers for.  I put my dress size in the stats becasue that is something I want to keep track of.  For those of you who have gone done a dress size already, how many pounds did you have to lose to go down a size?

Weight Loss How many calories for someone 4'11? Feb 03 2009

If you are trying to build muscle, you need to eat more and do strength training.  With 1200 calories, you would lose weight which it does not seem you need to do.  You just need to work out and eat the same, possible more than you do now.

How much do you weigh?  I think 1200 calories is probably the answer.  I'm abouth the same height and it works for me, I also don't exercise regularly.

I doubt you really gained 4 pounds.  You would have had to have ate 14,000 (2,000 a day) calories over your bmr in order to gain that much.  Either you weighed yourself at a different time of day than normal or you have extra water weight, possible due to your monthly cycle.

Fatanr11:  If you don't work out much (or at all), I think you should try to stick to 1200-1300 calories.  I'm the same height as you and weigh 148 lbs (from 154) and it's working for me.  If you do work out, I would stick to 1400-1500.  Have you been losing so far?

 Hey 77shorty

I'm at 177 from 183. I started out at 183 on 1/5/09. So, I'm losing, but at a snail's pace :(

I know I'm not doing as good as I could be. I was really good for the first 2 weeks, eating healthy, smaller portions, etc. But this 3rd week has really gotten to me. I haven't worked out once this week Surprised

I need to get back on track ASAP!!! Thanks for the advice. I need to stick to 1200/1300 AND work out. I was doing Hip Hop Abs with Shaun T!

6 pounds in 3 weeks is really awesome, not slow at all.  What you are doing now seems to be working.  Definately eat more if you work out.  I eat 1200 calories only becuase I don't work out at all.  With a full time job and an 8 month old baby I just don't really have time.  Maybe you should do 1200 calories on days you don't work out and 1500 on days you do, it will also help to give you incentive to work out.

With a zig zag diet, you are supposed to average your calories throughout the week instead of eating the exact same amount every day.  For Example:

Sun:   1200 calories

Mon:  1200 calories

Tues:  1400 calories

Wed:  1200 calories

Thurs: 1300 calories

Fri:      1200 calories

Sat:     1500 calories

This is just a random example, there are websites that will give you better examples for your weight and height.  The theory is that the variation keeps you from reaching a plateau, your body never feels like it isn't getting enough food.  There are posts about it on CC and everyone seems to do really well doing this.

I'm not counting ounces because my scale is retarded, I got on it and it said 148.8 and then I tried it 2 more times immediatelly afterwards and the readings were 148.4 and 148.2.

SW:  154 (approximate)

LW:  149

TW:  148

My weight keeps fluctuationg so much throughout the week that my goal is to stop weighing myself everyday.  I'm so addicted to my scale yet it pisses me off all the time.  I just can't seem to stop.

Also, are any of you zig-zagging your diet?  I've read a lot about this and I'm thinking of trying it.

reeady4lyfe: I'm really curious about the Biggest Loser calorie plan - the calorie plan formula is your body weight times 7?  For me this would only be 1,050 calories.  Did they tell you to add more calories for activity?

High Fructose Corn Syrup and sugar are both equally bad, so if you drink soda with real sugar insead of HFCS, you're only fooling yourself because both are bad.  I know someone who always points out to people that something contains HFCS and that it is bad for you but she eats tons of sugar.  It really makes her look completely ignorant.
