Hi everyone, sorry for checking in late. I was out of town this weekend for a little family reunion. I did alright on eating, but had a little splurge every day. I really surprised myself and got up early for a run on Saturday - about 4 miles with TONS of hills. Wiped me out! So, I'm down 1.6 in the last 2 weeks, but happy that I pretty much maintained during my trip. Tonight I'm back to Zumba, and I can't wait! :)

I'm down 2 pounds as well. I'm training for my first half-marathon in October, so all of these long runs are definitely helping me break through my 130's plateau. It's hard though to balance fueling my body for runs, and still wanting to keep a deficit.

Is anyone else a runner or training for a race?

horvathsgirl - I'm going to try to get more strength training into my routine too. I'll be interested to know if it works for you and breaking through the plateau :)

Good luck this week!

Hi there!

I'd like to join too if that's alright. :) This seems like just the right group for me. I need accountability and have done some month-long challenges, but need a bit more.

I'm Sara. I'm 23, 5'2", and currently 132 lbs. I started CC in January at 186 lbs., with an all-time high of 205 lbs. At this point, my body is not losing the 1.5-2 lbs. a week that I was used to, so I've been a bit frustrated the last few weeks. I just need to remind myself that even a half a pound a week is good and still progress!

Great idea, Helen, to bag up your snacks. Something I'll try to do this weekend when I have more time.

Well my goal is 125 (or 120 would be even more awesome), so I'll be checking in for those Monday weigh-ins.

Hope everyone is having a great week and thanks, Ana, for starting up the group!

I agree with themassageguy. When I first started with a trainer I was about 202 lbs., got down to 190 lbs. and was stuck. It wasn't until I joined CC and counted calories based on the recommendation that I finally started really losing.

I'm finally down to 142 lbs. after a little over 5 months of counting calories AND exercising. It's much easier to eat 500 less calories than burn 500 from exercise - but it's even better to combine a bit of the two!

My suggestion would be to stick with the trainer, but concentrate more on counting calories.

Weight Loss 5', 29, Need to lose 55lbs. anyone else? Apr 01 2009

No worries - happy to answer your questions!

It's taken me a little over 3 months to lose 32 lbs. The first 10 came off very quickly (I had really bad eating habits like full-calorie soda, lots of carb-rich sandwiches with mayo, no exercise, hardly any water, stuff like that). I don't cheat very often, and if I do, I adjust my calories for the rest of the day or the next few days to get back on track. I think that's a lot of why I've had so much success in so little time.

Most of my recipes are from the Best Life Diet book. Super low-cal and very flavorful so I don't feel deprived. Here's a link to a few:

Hi Janette,

Welcome!

I'm pretty new here too (joined in January) but so far I've lost 32 lbs (I'm 5'2", started at 186, highest ever 205). I keep to my calorie goal and exercise at least 30 minutes a day about 4-5 days a week. I have more to lose, but this website and the forums here have taught me so much. Losing weight finally seems doable, and I've never felt that way on any other diet, and I've tried a lot!

Something that really helped me through the first 3 weeks was taking supplements. I had never been good about taking vitamins, but now I take a multivitamin and fish oil (as well as beta-carotene for acne and vitamin C if I feel a cold coming on). Might be worth trying. :)

I've really been impressed by the knowledge everyone on the CC forums, so I'm sure they'll chime in with great advice.

Good luck! :)
