Count me in as well. I'm deathly frightened of holiday pies and hot chocolate letting me slip backwards. I've finally broken a two-year plateau!!

SW: 141

CW:128 (Wednesday 17th)

GW: 115 by February

But I have a mini-goal to be 126 by the end of November. Which means thanksgiving needs to be tame, and offset by exercise as much as possible, and leftovers need to be resisted!

The Lounge Any Atheists? Nov 17 2009

Sweetie, I don't know where you're from, but where I'M from, it's the crazy religious people who keep their **** retarded heads down.

Gathering a group of atheists is harder because we think for ourselves instead of relinquishing our cognitive processes and moral decision-making to a third party. (Either a god, or a church, or whatever)

But don't worry. Every generation gets more and more secular- one day (I hope in my children's lifetime) we will all look back at devout christianity and laugh, as we do at the greek gods or the norse gods.

What silly fairytales!

Motivation Does God care about dieting and weight loss? Nov 17 2009

I sincerely wish people wouldn't stop to consider god's wishes in anything- you are your own moral compass. If it is important to you, then it matters.

Free yourself from the trap of trying to relate all of your actions to a third party- you will find them much more rewarding if you're doing them for yourself instead of trying to please someone else.

I'm not trying to be unhelpful, I really just think your motivation will be higher if you're doing it for the intrinsic value instead of some extrinsic reward. Or if you ARE doing it for some extrinsic reward, at least let it be something TANGIBLE, like a smaller dress size!

Today, a guy I'm interested in slung his arms around my waist and I felt small, not self-conscious!

Today, I looked in the mirror before getting into the shower and did a little butt-wiggle for joy.

Today, I had to tighten my favorite dark denim vest. And then I realized it couldn't go any smaller. It's only a size medium. YAY!!!

Thanks for the support guys. Turns out it helped in at least one way- I had the best work out of my life today! I feel like I'm really getting back on track. Two days off the wagon maybe will end up being a good thing.

I love this group. Good job, team.

Team, I screwed up really bad yesterday, went 900 over. How do I fix it over the course of the week? I still really want to be one pound lighter for the beginning of may. my target for starting may 1 is 130, and i'm currently 131. =(

What do i do? Add a little more deficit for each day, or have one really low-cal day?

Don't give up, tasha! One week maintenance is not that bad. You have a fresh start right now.

Is it a self-control issue, and you know you've been eating badly and not exercising enough but it's so hard to do anything about it? Or have you genuinely been very good and the weight still didn't come off?

If it's the former, just think of how happy you'll be next monday to declare you lost a pound. You and me weigh the exact same right now. We can do it as a team. Wear a rubber band around your wrist and if you reach for something you know you shouldn't eat, look at it and remember your teammates and how we want to be able to share the excitement of next monday's weigh-in! Give the rubber-band a snap if you want to. If finals are getting you down this week, take at least half and hour to walk around or get to the gym for a bit. Every little bit helps, and will keep your serotonin levels up, which keep you happy.

If it's the latter problem, i'd consider re-examining your intake and expenditures. Are you double-counting for your burn meter? Are you underrepresenting what you're eating? Or, on the other hand, are you starving yourself too much? it sounds cliché but i know from experience- if you starve your body, it will panic and refuse to budge, and you'll be ruined for a few weeks while you try to get your metabolism back to normal. If that is what has happened, don't worry. A week of matainence eating, TONS of exercise, and then another week of slow loss will get you right back on track.

Let us help you! You're not over weight. Like I said, we're in the same boat right now, and we can do it! Just remember how short a period a week is. Time flies.

Hey guys! Don't forget to weigh in today! I'll be back with my news as soon as I know it. I've onyl got the scale at the gym to go by, and I'm not going for a few more hours.

Let's stay on track, everyone. Remember how much we want this.

Guys I just caved to temptation and had a bag of pretzles. It was a 180 cal bag, not the end of the world, but I don't like thinking I'm powerless against the vending machine in the laundry room!

On the positive side, I have not officially lost ten pounds!! (since february) I'm so proud of myself. And I put on an old pair of shorts today, and they were too loose!

I'm alrady at my May 1 weight, so I might re-adjust come next week. We'll see.

How's everyone else doing?

avaint:it's awesome to have a new person here. You can totally do it. Are you all set on your consumption and burn goals and everything?

I'm in! Hope fully by May 1 I'll be at 131, (currently at 133) and I'm hoping to be at 121 by the Fourth of July, so I can enjoy the barbecue guilt-free and have a cheat day in celebration!

We can totally do this. Let's all earn our 4th of july barbecues, not eat them guiltily!

I have a proposal, also: for me, the worst is in the details. It's the little decisions -like an afternoon skipping the gym, or a blueberry muffin at breakfast- that are holding me back. I want us to feel free to, when the urge strikes, vent about it on here. So I'll be writing about blueberry muffins isntead of eating them, and when I'm feeling lazy I'll write a few sentences about why I need to get my ass to the gym. If this becomes too much posting, let me know, but I think we should all do it. It really helps!

A few days ago I put my belt up to the next notch because the old one was too loose. YAY!! I was so happy.

Also, I can now touch my toes and put my head to my knees when my legs are extended. That's a huge accomplishment for me.

Last one: I put on a really pretty, kind of revealing sundress I haven't worn in a year because I couldn't zip it. I zipped it up easily today and got a ton of compliments!!

I also had a really bad Easter (totally coincidentally, since I didn't even celebrate this year) and I've been trying to get back on track all week. But I missed my workout yesterday. =(

But we all still really want it! And we've made progress! Everyone, keep going. Today and tomorrow, stay under your limit and hit the gym. Think of how great it will be when we can report back to each other on monday that we've lost a pound. YESSS.

I do the same exact thing. Today i had 900 cals at breakfast, 300 at lunch, I plan to burn 500 at the gym (as I do every day) and then eat around 500 for dinner.

I do this most days. I don't think there's anything wrong with it, as long as you don't get famished for dinner (or after dinner) and then start going over your limit.

Plus, I just really like breakfast food, alright?

I eat about 2,000 cals a day, and exercise enough to burn about 700-800, so I end up qith 1,200 or 1,300 a day, net.

I've only been dieting the last month or so, so I'm making good progress.

I don't get this 'build' business... how can i tell if I havea light frame or a heavy one?

I'm about 5'5 and I'm three pounds heavier than you. (Though come to think of it, since I'm at school, I'm always measuring myself with shows and clothes and iPod in hand.) I'm trying to get to 115 also, like I used to be in high school.
