I have 3 racerback tanks from Old Navy that I love.  They were found in the back of the store in a "Yoga" section and they are made from a special fabric that wicks away moisture.  I got them 50% off for either $5 or 10$ each.  They are great so look for them on sale.  They have sales regularly.

I don't either for the most part.  Been there, done that and usually, it's best to air on the side of caution than to give people the benefit of the doubt.  I've learned a lot of this the hard way.  I used to be very trusting and I've been let down and down right burned.

I have a BF and I have friends, so it's not like I've totally shunned society lol.  I am always mentally prepared for "the worst" though.  That way I won't be surprised by anything.

I don't log black coffee or unsweet tea (which I drink a ton of- tea that is).  I also don't log any spices I cook with or things such as freshly minced garlic.  I determine what is "negligible" and to me it's pretty much common sense.  It's worked for me so far :).

My weigh in tomorrow morning is motivating me.  I have purposefully avoided the scale for over a month now for "fear of disappointment."  If I COULD eat whatever the hell I wanted, NOT exercise and always maintain a slamming body, I'd be an over-eating slug in a minute.  It takes quite a bit of self-discipline to keep me on track every day.  LOTS of mind over matter Jedi mind tricks.

Hi there!

May I ask what you have for breakfast that is high in proteines?

I really have a hard time finding something that I like for breakfast and that can push me through the daY!

Thanks!!

B.

2 eggs, 2 slices of turkey bacon and a banana.  About 280 cals, loaded with protein and you won't be hungry until lunch.

Weight Loss That's where all my weight goes... Aug 22 2009

Mine goes straight to my lower abs, love-handle/muffin top area.  It's like a stubborn band of fat that won't go away!!!!  Seriously, I've lost 25 pounds since January and I'm basically at my goal weight of low 130s, but I STILL have the flab in this area.  It is so much more noticeable to me now that the rest of my body is pretty tight.  Therefore, I will continue to try and lose a few more pounds and exercise until that fat disappears.

Weight Loss Do you ever just have a day. . . Aug 22 2009

You're entitled to have a bad day as you are only human :).  Counting calories can be stressful at times and it can almost become an obsession if you let it.  I've learned that I don't have to "eat perfectly" all the time, nor do I.  I'm pretty flexible with my diet and strive to eat healthily 90% of time.  One thing that really helps me is that I don't eat out often.  I do most of my own cooking and that makes a big difference.  When I first started on CC, I had gone to Zaxby's for lunch one day and I got a grilled chicken sandwich b/c I thought it was the "healthiest" thing on the menu.  Boy was I wrong!  That thing had like 1000 cals in it b/c they use brioche buns.  JUST the bread had like 500 cals.  I was floored.

It really is a good idea to look up nutritutional info online before eating out.  That way you'll be armed and ready when you go out to eat and you'll know exactly what to order.  As far your family is concerned, do your best to walk to the beat of your OWN drum.  They don't have to live in your body- you do.  Perhaps you should mention that you feel like your efforts are being sabotaged at times and you would appreciate it if they would let you handle your own business.  Just know that you're doing a great thing by trying to get fit and healthy.  It's not easy and you will make mistakes or have bad days, but that is what life's all about.  Just learn from it and move on while always keeping your eye on the goal. :)

I understand where you're coming from annkatcom!  I live in the south so generally people are pretty polite.  I was raised though to say "thank you," "please," "excuse me," etc. so I always thank ANYONE that holds a door for me.  When I do the same (which I do all the time), it does really irks my nerves to get no reaction.  I appreciate a "thanks."

On that note, I'm not a morning person at all and I actually said, "good morning" to someone and he ignored me completely as in looked at me and kept on.  I'm thinking to myself, "you a-hole!  Do you KNOW how difficult it was for me to muster that 'good morning' and you just look at me with a blank stare and say nothing???" A smile a nod or something would have sufficed.  It chaps my ass.

I cut up red potatoes (skin on), carrots and onion (and celery if I happen to have it) and put it at the bottom of the crock pot.  The only seasonings I really add are black pepper, salt, garlic powder and onion powder.  You can omit the garlic and onion powder entirely as the beef great on its own.  I don't measure b/c I usually eyeball when I cook.  I then put about 1/2 cup of water in the pot with a beef bullion cube.  You can also put in red wine if you have it.  I will cook mine on high for about 6-7 hours and it's fork tender when served :).  Good luck.

Sorry about your clothes.  That's really frustrating.  Although my problem is not exactly the same, my clothes often come out of the laundry with mysterious GREASE SPOTS on them!  Anyone else have this issue and what did you do to correct it?  I separate my laundry and to my knowledge there is nothing "tainted" in the wash that could create grease spots in my clothing.  It makes no sense.

Are these small little grease spots? If so, are you using fabric sheets in the dryer? If so, you probably need to thoroughly clean the inside of the dryer with something like 409 or Fantastic. Rinse thoroughly and then run some damp towels through the dryer. The cheaper dryer sheets will build up a residue in your dryer faster than the better ones. All dryer sheets can leave these spots on clothes. If you have a liquid softner dispenser, only use liquid.

To get these spots out, treat the spots with liquid dish soap or shampoo. Both are designed to bread down grease and neither will hurt your clothes. Dawn is the best grease fighter. I did have Dawn leave a slightly blue stain in a white shirt once when I left the grease spot soaking in it, but after a few washings it came out. Shampoo meant for oily hair is excellent at getting greasy spots out of clothes.

Thank you so much and that's got to be the culprit.  I do use cheapie dryer sheets (store brand) and my dryer doesn't have a liquid dispenser.  I will take your advice and use some Dawn on this t-shirt that just recently came out with about 10 small grease spots!  Thanks again.

http://caloriecount.about.com/cc/account/flog .php

This is my food log for today.  It's pretty much "normal" food and I never feel deprived.  I also exercise 4-6 days per week for about 30-40 minutes a day (it's not like I'm a "gym rat" that spends hours working out).  Lately it's been only 4 days a week as I'm slacking a bit, but I still consistently lose weight.  I'm down from 159 to 134 and I've only managed to lose about .5 lb a week for the last few months.  I honestly don't care about the speed in which I lose though b/c it's not a race for me.  It's all about being able to sustain this way of life until I die.

What do you mean by "damn low calorie eating"?  It's easy to go over your calories with the wrong types of foods (i.el junk, eating out a lot, processed, carb snacks).  Eating foods you've prepared yourself can save you A LOT of cals in and of itself.  Although my diet today might mortify some CCers, it works for me and I'm within my allowance for the day.  I never feel deprived and that is the key for me.  Do you exercise?

ANYTHING is a better idea than becoming a History major. Seriously, do the culinary thing.

Spoken like... a history major? ;)

I have a friend with a B.A. in English and she has a lot to say about arts degrees too (she quotes the Avenue Q song a lot).  But the OP wants to teach highschool, not be a professional academic. That's a reasonable shot at a career, less risky than just getting a degree in something non-marketable...

Don't I know it.  B.A. in Communications here and if I could do it over again, I would've saved myself the 40K and got a 2 year certification for welding or some crap.  Follow your joy OP and your success will come.

I would toss them out.  It will give you an excuse to shop for your new body and keep you motivated to stay at your current size.  Forget the money factor.  Just think of it this way- someone that is bigger than you will get a very nice blouse/pants/skirt at a bargain price :).  You'll be doing yourself and that someone else a favor by tossing them.Tongue out  I had a lot of fun tossing out the "fat clothes", but not nearly as much fun as putting on my skinny clothes and having them fit again :).

Fried food (I'm southern)

I still allow myself the occassional fried chicken, french fries and fried fish because I really have NO desire to cut that out of my life permanently.  I fry it in canola oil and strain it as much as possible so it's not all terrible.  If I even start feeling "deprived" of foods I love I get really down and cranky and it throws me off plan.  I exercise 4-6 days a week and eat pretty "good" most of the time so it balances out.

Sorry, but you're not "chubby" with a 26" waist.  I've always been thick-waisted so mine is 29 1/2 and I'm 5'8" and 134 lbs.  I don't think I'm chubby and don't look it.  I don't think my genetics would allow me to ever have a 26" waist.
