| I have to go with Wahoo's fish tacos and a dinner salad and, of course, iced tea. Their fish tacos are NOT fried, and they are nice size fillets, really tasty! I don't remember the caloric content, its on their website, but it fit within my diet guidelines. The lunch is about $8. | |||

| One more comment on reading while on the bike. Contrary to what someone said, it IS possible to get a good workout while reading. I think 90 to 110 rpms on the bike is a pretty fair workout and I do it while reading. And like I said, reading is odorless, noisless and good for your mind.
The thing I was going to mention in the first place was, about the people who use the machines "backwards"....on the stair stepper facing away from the machine, or on the elliptical pedaling backwards. Although this is not really annoying, it is stupid. It makes the workout easier and it exercises the same muscles, just not as much. I have really enjoyed this forum |

| i have to strongly disagree with Kylee about reading on the bikes; I have read and enjoyed many books while on the bike. It not only doubles the utilization of your time, but the time passes faster, don't see how it could annoy ANYONE, it doesn't make noise or create odors. There is one guy at my gym who calls me "Professor" because I read all the time. Beats staring into space. I guess the thing that annoys me most is in the parking areas, people who actually sit in their car for minutes waiting for someone to come out so they can get a close place; why did they come to the gym in the first place? Couldn't be excerise, could it? | |||

| OK, I take Trader Joe's Super Vitamin Crusade, two a day. They are $14.99 for 180 tabs, a three month supply. I feel good, so I guess they are working, but I have never noticed a dramatic difference when I am taking vitamins or not. I understand that TJ's otc "medicines" are Canadian, and that they are of good quality. If anyone knows differently, I would be very interested in knowing about it. | |||
| Weight Loss | do you eat before you go to bed? | Apr 11 2007 21:11 (UTC) |

| I normally have dinner about 9pm or so, and later some fruit about 10pm or so. I usually go to bed about 11pm or so. I do not have any trouble sleeping, and I have been eating at these times for years, and I recently, over about a year and a half, have lost 57 pounds.
The "don't eat right before bedtime" myth is exactly that. It does not matter when you eat, it is what you eat. A recent study reported in the Tufts University Nutrition letter confirms this. |

| Over the past two years, I have lost 57 pounds, and most of that time I allowed myself (and still do) one or two Blackberry Green Tea Frappicinos per week, which are nothing short of deeeeeelicious! However, I have them make a venti BGTF with HALF the green tea powder and HALF the syrups. With that, my friend and I split a piece of Crumble Coffee Cake, and that IS lunch.....nothing else. I figure the frap is about 280-300 claories, and I have never checked the coffee cake, because that is my sole indulgence. It did not affect my weight loss, and doesn't affect my maintenance diet.
I know it is difficult if you are a sweet freak, but you can do it..it takes a lot of self discipline but once you are thin, you just look at yourself, think about how well you feel about yourself, and your hand will actually fit between those 30" pants and your body, and you will forget about the food because you know eating it is not worth it. |

| One more reply here! You asked how important fat grams are. The answer is VERY! Fat has 9 calories per GRAM, the highest caloric content of any food. So, if you can drop a "few" fat grams, the calories are going to add up fast. For your age and size, a nutritionist can give you the correct intake amount for fat; you are still growing and would need more fat than someone in their forties or fifities. I can't emphasize strongly enough the importance of consulting a nutiritionist. Your college may well have one. | |||

| There is one more thing, and an important one, that I forgot to mention yesterday and it is something I did when I started my diet program: SEE A NUTRITIONIST! I know a lot about foods, fats, carbos, etc but the nutritionist had a few important things to contribute that I did not know. She gave me the jump start I needed and I still check in with her every month or so to see that my weight is in check, so if you have one available (most medical insurances provide this service) make an appointment, you won't regret it. Good luck!

| You have hit the plateau. Just keep going, if you are eating less than before, you will lose...plateaus are common in dieting. I have lost 57 pounds over the last year and a half, and during the diet, I weighed in no more that once a month, if that often. DON'T weigh every day, or even every week and ALWAYS weigh in on the same scale at approximately the same time of day.
I also went to the gym daily, still do; try to get a lot of aerobic exercise in, that's what will burn the calories. Do at least a half hour on the excercise bike, the elliptyical (ski) machine, and then do the weights. Remember, muscle weighs more than fat, and as you build muscle you will add some weight, not enough by far to hurt your weight loss. Just watch the fat grams, try eating meat or fish just once a day, that works for me, and eat lots of fruits and veggies. You will enjoy it. Also, you haven't lost enough to notice much of a size reduction, when you drop 20 lbs you will start to notice the big difference, I went from an XL, 36" waist, to a S-M 30-31 waist. You will love being thin! Bill |

| Using the above marinade, sear it on high heat for about a minute or less on each side, it will be raw in the center, and serve with either a fresh mango salsa or wasabi cream. | |||

| You can buy otc vitamins specifically for the hair, but MSM which is normally taken for osteo arthritis has noticeable good effects on not only the hair but nails as well. You need to take this for awhile before you notice a difference, but you will. | |||
