Hi Count me in, current weight - 172lbs ish. Going on a camping holiday for the first 16 days of this challenge so we'll see how i get on, lots of exercise guaranteed but will power is needed to stop me eating too much! So this would be about 12 weeks, so let's say about 15-20 lbs lost... therefore target weight is about 155lbs... which is a bmi of 24.3... which sounds perfectly healthy. |

| Weight Loss | how to stop eating biscuits in the evening | Jun 17 2009 16:59 (UTC) |

hi i agree with everyone above that it's a habit, but i also feel ur pain at trying to get out of it. i've tried the eating something healthier but it's not quite the same - so my new outlook - eat half. so if u usually have two biscuits, only have the one... it's a step in the right direction... then in time u can get down to half a biscuit or only one every other day. i'm as far down this path as i buy these little oat and raisin based biscuits - about an inch across and have one of these with my tea after my dinner - they are about 45 cals each, easily fitted into my cal intake for the day - kinda a combination of all the suggestions above. good luck! |

hi i'm having the same problem today as wel. i've had an iffy tummy for a few days now and have eaten for the sake of eating something. i figure thick soup is the way to go, although i probably need some more protein... try drinking more calories, that's what i've been doing - hot chocolate, cup-a-soups, fruit juice, smoothies, milk... |

Hi I just had a look at this site. Isn't it funny how the 'normal' sized women are classed as 'overweight'. Not so sure about BMI as a measure of ppl! |

I'm also on the 30 day challenge - day 2... low intensity workouts (to get the hang of it)... lovin it! When i got the wii fit i played it everyday for about 2 weeks then lost my way... got bored i suppose. However the EA Sports Active - i think i'll be at it a lot longer before i get bored - i don't know how to do 80% of the exercises so i'm learning them and trying to get that calorie counter up so i reckon these guys have cracked it. I may even consider going to the gym and repeating the workout there in the future... will look much more like i know what i'm doing! |

| Vegetarian | HELP - Question on Vegeterian/Vegan | Apr 29 2009 11:33 (UTC) |
8 |
Hi A veggie is someone who doesn't eat meat and usually only eats other animal products that are free-range or from better treated animals e.g. cheese and eggs. Vegans don't go near any animal products - meat, eggs, dairy, leather, gelatine (hidden in a lot of places like sweets), egg products (this means no vaccinations as wel since a lot of them are grown in chicken eggs)... etc you get the idea. It's a real commitment. As for you, you could almost call yourself half way to being a veggie, the next step isn't too big a leap. Going from omnivore to vegan is a huge leap so if you wanted to follow, take it easy and exclude animal products slowly because it's much easier to remain veggie if you change your lifestyle instead of a huge change (kinda like dieting really!) |

Hi I recently signed up for a 5k race in June. So last night, i decided to give 5km a go - it took 46 mins. But at least that's a decent start. The average time for the run in June is somewhere between 30 and 45 mins based on last year (it's more of a fun run than competitive - the ideal start). The ultimate aim is to run a 10k next year. It's kinda funny to hear of someone who is at the end of the journey when i am just starting. Hoping to follow in your footsteps... |

Hi I'm with ya. Today I covered 5km in 46mins21sec with a kind of walk half, brisk walk half idea. I plan to be able to run all of it by June. So I'm with ya! I think I'm about a week 2/3 at the moment. I've read the whole thread which describes how to learn to run. Enjoying it so far!

Welcome on board! I tried sweet potato after reading about it in Rosemary Conley's book... and have never looked back. I eat mine just as it comes out of the oven, maybe some tuna / ham / cream cheese on it, big lump of salady stuff, some peppers roasted in oven while baking the potato and now you're talking about lunch / light dinner! |

I go by the mantra of 8 glasses or 2 litres of water a day.. i did the conversion in google, 2 litres = 0.439938315 Imperial gallons so i'm probably having about half a gallon a day. |

Hi all, We don't get this DVD here in the UK.. although i have heard about it and found some of it on youtube... my question is... what is the idea here? we do a level 1 20 min workout every day? or every other day? then move up levels as the body allows? i might consider buying it from amazon and having it shipped over if this 'sample' goes well. thanks. |

lol that's actually a really good plan. i used to work in a busy bar/food place and the smokers seemed to disappear out the back once an hour for a puff... so after discussion with management i used to take fresh air breaks (better for my lungs) since they didn't want to take smoking time away from smokers they gave it to everyone equally. now i work in an office and go the smoking shelter for 5 mins every couple of hours, it's at the furthest away place on the grounds from my desk... and it's where all the gossip hides during the day! |

| Weight Loss | Is it bad that most of my calories come from dinner? | Feb 05 2009 16:34 (UTC) |
14 |
Hi I've also been pondering this. So have decided this week to give the '6 small meals' thing a go. So we are on thursday and i'm gettin pretty sick of small portions of dinner but i am feeling more balanced over the day and feel less peckish at 5pm when i get home. I still cook my dinner then eat one small portion and put the others in little tupperware boxes for during the day at work. We'll see how it goes. |

| Weight Loss | What do I tell people? | Feb 05 2009 15:05 (UTC) |

i was tested and had a positive result for an intolerance to wheat. not gluten, just wheat. which rules out bread, pasta, cakes, biscuits etc... so when i turn down a snack at snacktime i just tell them i can't have it. i doubt i've told more than a dozen people that i can't have wheat for medical resons... but really depends on the people asking, most people don't really care why you aren't having with everyone else. don't worry about them, they'll be the first to notice you have lost weight and last to put 2 + 2 together with ur lack of snacks. |

i think i may b a 'lucky one' as i loose from round my 'gut' first. the muffin top is reduced first then boobs.. not my ideal way round but that's how it seems to be going. thighs are doing all right as well, trousers are getting closer! |

Hi I also agree, i'm not saying i have lost massive amounts of weight but now one of my 5 pairs of office trousers fit! woohoo! they all go on now (all 5 zips to the top) but only one pair are comfortable enough to wear all day. i wouldn't say that my 4 lbs weightloss is massive or anything but getting back into workwear is a real benefit and a much more satisfying way to track my weightloss than watching numbers... |
