I'm currently 127 and I try not to go over 130. I do notice a difference, mostly in my stomach when I'm on the higher end of my range. I use to weigh myself everyday, but I'm weening myself off of the scale and do it once a week (even though I may sneak a weigh-in in the middle of the week Tongue out.

First, CONGRATULATIONS on meeting your goal! It's a very proud moment; I should know... Wink

While I'm maintaining @ 5'3", 127 pounds, and light activity, I burn about 1800 calories. I currently go to the gym 3 days a week and try to walk at least 30 minutes on the other 4 days. So if you're more active (you're probably moderately active), about 2,000 calories or so might work well for you. But definitely slowly increase your intake so your weight doesn't shoot up. Congrats again!

Health & Support Plateau at a healthy weight, should I stop trying to loose? May 18 2009

What difference are 5 lbs? Neither aesthetically nor for health reasons will those make a difference. Our weight fluctuates +/- 5 pounds, anyway.

Are you aiming for this weight for a feeling of success and confidence? Why not buck cultural pressures and just be the size you're comfortable with, and not obsess over a number?

I can't speak for anyone else, but for me, it's all about the feeling of success. When you set a goal, especially one within reason, it's nice to meet it. Sure, losing a few pounds more likely than not won't make a difference in how I look. But it's nice to have one in the "win" column and meet the goal.

I was wondering what happened... I lost a pound over a week and my calculator went from 1890 to 1760. But my activity level is still showing as light activity... Sheesh... At least now I know I'm not losing my mind. Thanks for the info!

Those last 5 pounds are historically super tough to lose! But I have a similar problem. I'm 5'3" and 128. My goal was to get anywhere between 125-130, but I ideally wanted to get to as close to or at 125. So far I've been hanging about between 128 and 130 for a month. Right now, I'm trying something like what gi-jane suggested. I've increased my intake to maintainence levels (and sometimes over!) and am continuing to exercise. I'm probably going to keep this up for another month or so and then drop my intake again along with increased exercise to see if that helps. If it works, I'll definitely let you know. Best of luck!

Ditto to what gi-jane said.

You may more likely than not need to increase your intake, but stay far, far away from sodium. It's a killer to the weight loss progress. Also, without keeping note on everything you've been eating, you may be grossly under-estimating your caloric intake and slowly the weight loss process. Good luck!

I ABSOLUTELY know where you're coming from. Since I've lost some weight and often eat lots of fruits (and as of recently baby carrots), I hear nothing but snide remarks. Someone even had the nerve to say, "You actually still eat?", after I said I was going out for lunch. SMH...

Anyway, I've come to the conclusion that some people are just unaware of their rudeness (sometimes!) when it comes to nit-picking other people dietary habits. You'd be surprised how many people don't have a full understanding of having a healthy eating lifestyle. Not a diet, but a permanent lifestyle. All you can do is keep doing what you're doing. And obviously, you're doing something right or else no one would "care" enough to say anything at all.

I'm pretty similar with the exception that I'm about 5"3'. Mine are 37-27-37.5. I'm at 140lbs, so I wonder what I'll be when I get to 130lbs...

I'm 5'3" and weight 140lbs. I currently wear a size 6 and I carry most of weight in my thighs. It's amazing because in a size 6 pants, the waist is too big, but the leg area is just right... Barely.
