Make sure you get the Wii Fit PLUS - everything wii fit has and more.  I really love it, my 3 boys love it and even hubby likes it. It's so easy to blow through an hour just playing the games, never mind getting to the official yoga, etc.

We didn't make it to the rec today - spent all morning at the dentist and then my little one got sick from the rinse.  We stopped at the Subway next door and he yucked right there in front of the bathroom door.  He pretty much helped everyone lose their appetite, lol.  Anyway we've made plans to go swimming on Friday evening and probably Sunday afternoon too.  And if the weather is good then we'll go on a family bike ride this weekend.

J-mom, I love a well stocked fridge!  It's so worth the prep and time... we do tend to grab and eat the easiest available :)

My weight is up today, I'm so bloated that my socks are digging into my ankles!  Either hormones or something I ate... hopefully working out tonight and lots of water will take care of it.

It's a deal tcnm84 !  I'll join you this weekend for sure and maybe tomorrow (no school tomorrow & all 3 kids and I have dentist appointments! depends how that goes).  We have a nice pool at the rec and since I have to shadow my 5yo it can become quite a workout. 

I did manage to burn 100 cals on Wii tonight.  My calves are killing me, lol.

Hi all,  I wasn't able to exercise at all the past two days, breathing was just too difficult and exhausting.  Am hoping to get back at it tonight while watching BL.

My weight is holding steady (I do weigh every day, it's good for me to see the fluctuations due to hormones + I track my trend line).  But last night I was SO HUNGRY!   This has only happened to me twice since I started CC in Jan.   So I ate a 1.5 serving of oatmeal, with milk & raisins.  Still hungry so I ate high fiber pasta with pinto beans, tomatoes, onions, etc. (like a chili).  That finally did it.   I tend to trust my body when it craves something and I have to be careful because of my anemia.   I probably hit my max in cals, maybe more, so I'm just counting the day as a wash.

J-mom, I wish my weight went down daily... mine tends to bounce back and forth for a fee days and then BAM it drops and stays there until it wants to play bouncy ball again ;)

Tcnm84 - I have a rec center membership, let's use 'em okay?!   My goal is twice this week, how about you?

My Sunday report - my focus was on breaking my 163 lb plateau and I did it!  What a relief after 2 months of bouncing :)  Started at 163.4 and today am weighing in at 162.6.

Yesterday I burned 230 cals on Wii Fit Plus and 100 cals on the elliptical + a gazillion miles of walking while shopping at Costco (helps work off all the free samples they hand out! lol).  Wii Fit includes weight lifting, cardio, balance and yoga exercises. 

This coming week -

SW: 02 Nov 09 - 163.4 lbs
CW:
07 Nov 09 - 162.6 lbs
Fitness: Continue daily exercise
Focus: Get to and stay under 161
Short Goal: 159 lbs = healthy bmi

j-mom *warning, ass kicking ahead :)  You really should get after those weights.  You're older now and all the cardio in the world isn't going to protect you from muscle and bone loss.  You really want to be a thin old lady who has to use a walker because you're at high risk of breaking a hip because you weren't "enjoying" weight lifting in your 40's?

Tiffany maybe you are looking at it too hard, but it truly can be tricky to figure out at 1st. I've never tried to explain it before but I hope this helps :)

#1 is to determine your Daily Burn in the tools section - and whether you set it at sedentary, active or whatever is up to you using the data it gives you.  Personally I set mine at Sedentary and then add in all my exercises. Others prefer to set it at moderate and only log major exercise.

#2 Then you start eating less than than that burn # and you also start burning calories however you'd like (jogging, swimming, dancing, housework, walking the dog, tickling your kids, whatever.) Or you can eat your entire burn # and do a lot of exercise to burn calories.  Or you could just do the eating less calories part and skip doing anything that would burn any extra calories. (Diet + Exercise / Diet alone / Exercise alone)

#3 You then do the math :

My Daily Sedentary Burn + My Exercise Burn = X
X - My Total Calories Eaten = My Total Daily Deficit

Using myself as an example today:
1700 + 270 = 1970 (X)
(X)1970 - 1350 = 620

so 620 is my total deficit today

Total deficit should never be higher than 1000 - best if kept at between 500-750.  A 3500 deficit should give you a one pound loss - so 500 daily deficit for 7 days means 1 pound is gone!

I'm staying on track - 162 this morning, looks like I really have broken my 163/164 plateau. 

No exercise yesterday, too tired so decided it would be my day off.  Plan on kicking butt the next 3 days :)

I can't believe it, my scale said 161.4 this morning!  That's 2 lbs in 2 or 3 days... yes, probably some water but even with water weight I haven't seen anything under 163 for two months!

I think the Wii Fit Plus is helping tons - I can tell it how much wt I want to lose in what amount of time... and it tells me how many cals to burn each day & then counts them down as I work out.  The workout games are FUN! so it's no problem to keep at it for an hour.

Happy 3rd anniversary Cricket, love & commitment don't need $ so I'm sure you'll figure out some way to celebrate :)

Thanks for the welcome :)   I'm sure you'll lose those 2lbs this week lynn.  Persistence! 

Yesterday I weighed in at 163.4.  Today it's 163.  I WILL get and stay under 163 lbs - it's been two months of bouncing between 163 & 164.

Focus: Break the 163lb plateau!
Goal: 159 lbs = healthy bmi

What is everyone's plan for staying on track during the Holidays?  So far I've decided that during Thanksgiving & Xmas dinners and any parties I will eat whatever I want w/no thought for calories, but limit myself to a serving size of whatever it is.  Also no alcohol or other empty liquid calories (eggnog!).

Oh I need this group!  I've been stuck at the same weight for around 2 months - and I'm only 4 or 5 lbs away from healthy BMI !!  Want to get there so badly!

Started this year off at 205 pounds and am now 163-164.  Cardio is difficult for me because of some breathing problems but I try - elliptical at home, bike rides, swimming at the rec, a little walking and playing Wii Fit (just got the Plus version and will try it today!).

I'm 44yo and my body only burns about 1700...so it's difficult to get even a 500 deficit with diet alone.  I try to eat 1200-1400 cals per day, but admit to too many extras the last couple of weeks:  really started to get a "so what, I"m not losing weight anyway so I might as well eat this" justification track running through my head.  Am nipping that in the bud right now!  It's a bad thought process not only for losing weight but also for the day that I maintain a healthy weight...every choice matters!

Some of you amaze me with your 2 pound loss goals for each week!  Don't you think that's really pushing it too much?   Using my heart rate monitor I'm only burning about 100 calories for every 15 minutes of cardio, so 2 pounds a week would require a 500 diet/food deficit as well as at least 75 minutes of cardio EVERY DAY.   And I can't burn 500 calories a day with exercise and still only eat 1200 calories - I'd faint, lol.

So anyway my goal is to strictly stay within my 1200-1400 calories + aim for a little more exercise, and hope to lose 1 pound per week.

And oh yes, those Holidays are going to be difficult!

You're doing great Roger.  My husband held at 210 for several weeks but he's 206 as of today.  You'll get there too!  I am still in a holding pattern in spite of keeping everything the same (just like you).  Am hoping it's just my body adjusting :)

Hi heatherkparks, I agree that it can be difficult, even frustrating, to find like minded buddies on cc.  Just a part of being in this great big web world of ours though :)

I actually took a bit of time this weekend and buddied some new friends on CC- people who I had noticed to be both sane and sensible in their lifestyle approach as well as being committed to a long-standing change, but also humorous & forgiving with their faults and failings.

I hope that makes sense - it's been a long day & I'm dead tired, yawn!

I'm also grumpy right now because I just noticed that my sedentary burn went down another 30 - I now burn just 1710.  I think it was 1840 originally. Uggh.  Yes, at one point I did have a significant amount of weight to lose...but it seems as if these last few pounds are just as difficult to be rid off as the 1st 40 pounds were.  It's a struggle to get a 1lb weekly loss.

That's 42+ pounds gone, need another 4 gone to make it into the lower bmi - 24.9).   Really need to work on getting the fat off my waist and hips...stubborn!  My face, chest, neck & arms are shriveling away but my tummy stays put....my 1st plan of attack is to take it to some really scary Halloween haunted houses...maybe it'll run off screaming!  ha ha
