| When my boyfriend insists on going out for dinner, he usually orders a meal and a couple appies, so I just get a nice chicken ceasar or something similar and treat myself to one or two bites from his greasy, salty high calorie but delicious appies!!
I usually try to find a drink that has low calories when Im at the bar. Vodka and cranberry juice is delicious! Just dont add the pop and you cut out over 100 calories a drink! |

| Can I still sign up for this challenge?
My name's Fawn, and I've been on calorie-count for two years (off and on) Age: 22, SW: 220lbs CW: 167lbs GW:155lbs I've been dieting for about two years. I started right after I turned 20. I had just gotten out of a horrible two year relationship. I started exercising because it helped me work out my emotional upsets and give me time to just be by myself. Once I noticed the weight dropping off, I got a little more serious with my dieting. Ive done the yo-yo a lot but overall Ive been really happy with my success. I need to start getting serious about my weigh loss and exercise again! Im in a new relationship, and I just dont want to gain the "happy pounds".... to me they wouldnt be happy at all!! My main issue is night-time binging. I work until 11pm or 1am... and when I get home I end up pigging out and going to bed!! I need to either stop binging or find healthier food to eat! |

| The Lounge | Getting parents to "loosen the reins" | Mar 02 2007 22:27 (UTC) |

| My parents were completely overbearing, overprotective snoops. I wasn't even allowed to hang out with boys until I was 16. My curfew was ridiculous and I'm pretty sure my parents ruined any chance of being accepted in highschool. Same things as listed above... I couldnt go out with friends unless my parents knew them, and got to talk to their parents first, a million phone calls to see what I was doing...ect..
So as soon as I could (at 17) I moved out. I'm 21 now, and I still live on my own and am putting myself through University. I don't push my route as the "one" to do.. but for me it was the only option. Even at 21 my mom still attempts to control me. At 18 I went to Mexico with a friend for Spring Break... and I was never taken advantage of, drugged, or ended up on Girls Gone Wild. From my experience there is absolutely nothing you can do to get more freedom or prove to your parents you're responsible so you just have to suck it up until you're in the position to move out on your own. Besides working full-time and having to worry about bills, food, ect... You sure do get a lot of freedom. |

| Atleast we're lucky enough to be able to hold higher weights a little better.
Sarah01... I was the same way! Its like I woke up one morning and my damn clothes didnt fit anymore! The worst part of lossing weight though is having to buy new clothes. Jean/pant shopping is like my worst nightmare. I hate doing it. |

| I have never ever ever been able to find an ankle length skirt that was actually ankle length!! Hahaha
Luckily I can sew a little so I make a lot of my own full-length skirts and dresses. Don't have any issues finding mini-skirts though, lol. |

I really like jeans for the Gap. Long enough, which is nice!! Some types are even to long. Warehouse One (if you have one) has "long" sizes too. Anybody have really long arms too?? I can never find long-sleeved shirts that actually reach my wrists.. I'm always pushing up my sleeves, its so annoying! |

| Have you tried to research something on the internet? There is a staggering amount of information, a lot of which is not even close to being right for the person. A therapist knows about your history, family history, fears, goals, ect...
I haven't heard of people going to a therapist about lossing weight, unless they are anorexic, which does need proffessional help. Or have another clinically recognized eating disorder. Rationalizing isn't good for you either, its avoiding the truth, which we should all know is not beneficial! There is no such thing as "curing" something that is a mental problem *unless its a chemical problem*. Therapists give their clients useful tools and insights into themselves so that they can make the right choices, think positively, and move their life forward. It may seem easy enough to do on your own if you've never suffered from depression or other personality disorders, but for someone that is trapped into negative thinking or clinically depessed, its not so easy. Also just having someone that is outside of your circle of friends, family and social support can help as they can give a completely unbiased view on the problem or issue. A lot of people do not feel 100% comfortable sharing all their private information over a website such as this, because the internet is not a safe, nor private place. Anything and everything that is said can be read by anyone. |

| I may be a little biased considering I am working towards my masters in psychology, but there very little to no negative side-effects to therapy.
Not a lot of people can just "buck-up" or they would. Even stating that someone should just "buck-up" is putting a very negative spin on therapy. If its not for you, then great... but you shouldn't pass judgement on people that need and seek professional help. |

| Obviously if you just take a pill and dont change your eating habits, or exercise, its not going to work.
However, I added "Tight" (an energy enhancing diet pill) to my daily routine and I've gone from 230lbs to 180lbs in 4 months, and now, two months later, I'm still maintaining my new weight! I personally reccomend it but you cant mix them with caffeneine or you start bouncing off of walls!! |

| I agree with finewine I think...
I have a guy friend that I have been friends with for about three years, but we live in different provinces and only see each other every once in awhile. I was recently visiting him and became aware that he has gained quite a bit of weight.... Im not the most gracious person, but I got my point across that maybe he should eat better and look into some exercise... I used my life as an example because I've lost a ton of weight and am living better... And he didn't get upset... Hopefully he'll take what I said to heart and look into it! But his weight loss didn't make me any less attracted to him... its all in the smile and laugh! |

| I think its definately a good thing... especially when you hit the weight you want to be at... You won't gain it all back because you went off some fad diet and went back to eating more then cabbage!
Thats probably why this website is so popular. I've personally lost almos 50lbs on it since I started! And keeping it off! |

| The Lounge | Raising Teens | Jul 04 2006 21:07 (UTC) |

| Hey.... So I never raised a teenager, being only 20 myself, but I can tell you from experience that if you stick to your guns and make him responsible for his actions (ie. find the books, or work doing chores or a summer job to pay back the other book). I can almost guarentee that by the time he hits 19-20 he will be thanking you.
I used to think my mom was the biggest bitch ever when i was younger and now I thank her for everything she did, and wouldnt let me do! Also, I dont know the whole family situation, but is the BF new? He could be acting up because he thinks your new BF is trying to take you away and/or take his dads spot. I remember getting extremely bitchy and uncooperative when my mom started dating my step-dad and I was about 14. Its amazingly hard on a teenager when a new parent figure comes into their lives. I'd reccommend you and your ex-husband do the punishing and try to keep the step-dads and moms out of the situation. I still dont like my step-dad when he tries to tell me what to do LOL. |

| Start munching on healthier things... I always get insane cravings for popcorn, so now I make two cups (popped) and put some garlic or cayenne pepper on it instead of butter and salt....
If you really like sweet stuff, try healthier versions... I know I should probably tell you to resist, but I cant! LOL |

| The Lounge | Anyone here have trouble with gallstones?? | Apr 21 2006 18:42 (UTC) |

| I had my gall bladder removed about 6 years ago. It wasn't so horrible, but I did, slowly, realize there are a ton of foods out there I simply cannot eat, and its not all fried food thats already bad for you. I don't digest dairies in the morning very well, coffee (and caffeniene in general) will send me running to the bathroom.
This is probably too much information for anybody, but I wish someone had told me about this... When you have to take a #2, do it right away! If you don't, you will get craps and pain like you have never felt before! Sometimes I'll even break out into a cold sweat, its tons of fun when I'm driving! On the plus side, you will drop weight pretty fast after the surgery because you'll pretty much poop out anything that hits your system for about a month (sometimes longer). I miss my gallbladder, but I'm surviving! Its not so bad, and the scars are pretty small. |

| I'm also in university (UBC) doing my masters in Psychology, but I still work in atleast an hour a day of exercise. Most schools have a gym thats available to students. Remember, you don't have to do all the exercise at once, so try 10-15 minutes inbetween classes, ect...
I don't find taking 1-2hours a day out of school work is much of a grades killer (except around finals!) But I do bring my textbooks to the gym with me and read well im sweating! |
