| I'm 29, single, and mostly fit into lasch's description. That said, I can count on one hand the number of my guy friends who are my age (pre-30) who aren't married. Being unmarried at my age, I'm definitely the minority. I live in a fairly small town in PA though, so that may have something to do with it. ;-) | |||

| I'm hijacking the thread a bit, but thanks for the tip on trying one arm pushups from your knees. I hadn't even thought of that, I guess because I always try to spread my legs out wide for stability when I try them. I think I've had trouble because my triceps are comparitivly one of my weakest muscle groups (I should probably do more diamond pushups for tri's) and triceps seem to be the primary muscles used in one-arms. I'll give the knee thing a try though. | |||

| You could try Lat Pull-downs with less than your body weight until you build up your back enough to do pullups. Eddie, you are my hero sir. I couldn't do a one-armed pushup to save my life. |

| There's a lot of good info in this thread, but I figured I'd add a quick two cents. :) First let me caveat this comment with the declaration that I could easily be accused of taking a too simplistic approach to my training in general, which may hold true for this statement as well. That said, I find that if I want to "tone" muscles, I just need to up my cardio and burn some extra fat off. Whether you lift weights or not, I think everyone has great looking muscles underneath layers of fat... achieving a toned look can be accomplished simply by removing some of that fat. |

| kikine, you could definitely find other competitors at the bodybuilding.com forums. That community is more dedicated to the competition aspect of training. It has been my experience that the calorie-count forums are more targeted towards general health and fitness; although that's not to say you won't find some fellow competitors here. :) | |||
| Weight Loss | I hope the calories stay in Vegas! | Apr 03 2008 20:40 (UTC) |

| In my opinion, unless you live in the area, a trip to Vegas falls in the category of a "life experience" that should be enjoyed without worry of what you're eating. I've always reasoned that there's no point to carefully counting calories and working hard in the gym 51* weeks a year, if you can't go enjoy yourself for 1 week. As for Vegas, stop by La Bayou on Freemont street and ask for their house drink, the "Adios Mother******". It's aptly named, and may help you to stop worrying about counting calories while you're there. ;-) * Actually, I probably take 3 or 4 "cheat weeks" a year. |

| A girl with a cute short hair style will always draw my attention before anyone else. I'm putting that in the "strange" category, not because I think it's strange for a girl to have short hair, but because I know I'm in the minority of guys who think it's hot. In my area, it's something that's very unique and helps a girl to stand out in the crowd. Very sexy! |

| My favorite exercise... except for the 15 minutes a week I spend doing them. =P I'm not a huge guy, so I dig them because even smaller guys can use a fair amount of weight. I'm up to working out with 365 lbs (using a belt and straps). I haven't tried maxing out in years, because I don't want to screw up my working sets. If you ever want to get pysched up for doing some deadlifting, check out videos of Misha Koklyaev. He's a Russian strongman competitor, and is the most impressive deadlifter I've ever seen. Perfect form! |

| Very sexy. The sexiness of a girl with well defined muscles, for me, goes far beyond just physical attraction. I know the amount of dedication and sacrifice that it takes to maintain a low percentage of body fat. A lady who can achieve this feat is incredibly alluring to me for both the physical and mental traits it takes to sport this look. Melkor has a great point regarding the "put up with me" post as well; I've found that it's much easier for fit ladies to accept the time and energy that I personally dedicate to keeping myself in shape, than girls who are less physically active. |

| I think John Cena has a great, actually attainable, build. I mentioned in another post that I feel that Dexter Jackson (the bodybuilder) has the best male body I've seen. I'm not really convincined Dexter's build is achevable without a combination of awesome genetics and chemical enhancement though. |

| yalcekim, think of it as on-season / off-season. Bodybuilders are typically in one of two nutritional phases of training: bulking or cutting. If you're bulking, you're simply taking in more calories than you burn, with a higher percentage of carbohydrates for energy. This gives your body the extra material it needs to build muscle and the energy to lift heavy weights. In a cutting phase, you're just taking off any excess fat you may have accrued while bulking. Lower calories, more cardio, lower weights. You're on point with the weather thing. There's just no opportunity for me to be running around in the winter with my shirt off here in PA, so I typically bulk Sept through Feb, cut that down March and April, and maintain for the rest of the summer. I try to put on five pounds of muscle a year, and this is the best way I've found to do it. In my case, the change in my body isn't drastic. I'll be less vascular in shoulders/stomach/legs in the winter, but someone who wasn't looking closely wouldn't notice much of a difference. |

| I gotcha shill. Definitely less veins to contend with in the winter. I have never liked the vascular look in a girl, so I can't blame girls for not liking it on a guy. |

| Personally, I think Dextor Jackson has the perfect male body. Brad Pitt in the Fight Club era is a close second. That said, I'm pretty content with my own body. In the fall/winter, I loose some of my sharpness in an effort to lift a lot heavier and add muscle mass, but in the summer I wouldn't trade my body with anyone. Oddly enough, my last couple girlfriends liked the winter look better. :O |

| I respect the Beatles, and their music is definitely solid, but I'm not sure that I would actively listen to them. Growing up, my parents listened to nothing but the local oldies station. I think I got my fill of the Beatles then. I heard all their hit songs so often growing up, their music got a bit played out for me. I pray this never happens to me with Nine Inch Nails and Tool. |
