I dunno, I am also in about.com and a lot of things are quite different, but I guess ppl always overestimate how many calories they spend, and I noticed something odd, when I log all my data her http://www.phord.com/cc/ (less the bodyfat%) it says about the same calories than cc but when I log my body fat% it seem to be catually lower!! |

check your daily percentages of carbs, sometimes that doesn't allow the body to use fat as energy because you produce a lot of insuline which promotes storing fat instead of spending it as energy, and if you are saying that your carbs are coming mostly from cereal and oreos tha's even worst, high GI (glycemic Index) makes it harder to lose wight, try to go 1 week low carb ( under your 35% of totally intake) and thenstart eating them again but mostly from fruits, vegetables, and whole wheats, no oreos! |

I got the blood test and my level of TSH is 2.1, I know it's tagged as "normal" but isn't to low for a yung lady 20 years old who is pretty active and had lost her period because of this??? |

I am affraid I got thyroid issues also.... I went to the blood test yesterday praying, hoping and waiting that is not going to be hypothyroidism, but I have lost my period for more than 6 moths so it almost sure is related with it |

hello curly girl, I dont know if I have Hypothyroidism but I have lost my period for over 6 months now, yesterday I went to a blood test to find out whats wrong with me, and the nurse said the most probable thing is that I had thyroid issues, so as you see its quite normal to get unpredictable periods because of it, (htere is something inside me that tells me its all about thyroid) but the worst is that I didn't noticed it till I stope taking birth control pills because they make your period regular... so it can cheat you sometimes.. |

For sure the weight you gain is most water! the body (even a body mssed up by starvation need 3 days to process food into fat tissue) don't get disscouraged you need to refeed! I did and I thought I would gain a ton but in the process I learned is not that easy as you think! hope you keep doing well and please eat. |

If the pasta it's dry 2 ounces is actually 1 cup, another way to measure tha kind of portions is readig how many serves has the container and then if you are cooking the whole content you can measure it easly by knowng the number or if don't you will know that if you prepare half container it will give you x portions which has x amunt of cals. |

As fast as you lost it, as fast it will come, but if this work for you, try to eat 1200 cals, do 250 mins of cardio per week, and eat just 100 grams or les of carbohidrtaes, chose vegetables and fruits over bread and cookies, lift weight and eat around 30% of your diet of lean protein...thats the best you can do to lose 2 to 2.5 pounds per week |

thats prolly, becuase today I tagged some rice and hummmmm it doesn't show up, whats odd is that when I go to look for it in the "show all" list it does appear but WITHOUT the tag I asigned to it, when I try to re-tagg it the tagging space is all blank... this is really pissing me off and what's worse: they never answer your complains |

it seems to be that when you tagg another stuff those you tagged before suddenly appear, anyway it doesnt happen everytime I tagg something so it could be that the server its way to bussy and doesn't recognize the food you tagged, I fixed mine already by looking for it among the whole list and re-tagging it again- hope it wokrs for all fo you |

Well I must adimit I have felt way better by eating more and I have healed my relationship with food, I eat things I would never even tasted a year ago, and there where a time when I got so hot and sweety at night and had no more chills and there I thougth I were outta starvation mode, I have gainied average a pound per week I know, but gaining with the amount of cals supposed to be for MANTAINANCE so that is not a good sing and I am afraid my body is not used yet to the cals I have been given it, even if I have eaten them for 3 moths or so, I am not trying to make feel bad someone, I was just looking for help and to get better how this were going to be, I needed to make myself sure this is not abnormal and wash away that feeling that gaining will never stop, anyway my apologies for everyone in the forum if I said something unaopropiate |

is the same for me, I wnet from 95 to 110 but just by eating 1700 cals a day, its not fear at alla, being on starvation mode makes you gain just by eating an extra potatoe everyday, I can't imagine myself eating 3000 cals a day and I don't know why I still have not my peroid back. |

Hi everyone I am desperate with my weight gain, I went from 800 to 1700 cals per day in 15 weeks and I didn't gain but since I reached the 1700 ( 10 weeks ago or so) I am gaining like crazy, I guess its water weight but why I did't started gaining when I was eating 1500 or so? anyway I was wondering how long it takes! I already reached a bmi of 19 but it keeps going higher and higher LW: 97 pounds CW: 111 pounds GW: 110 pounds
pleas I want to stay at 110 but it seems to be that my body will keep storing... I have some questions, I have been eating 1700 for almost 12 weeks so I should't be retaining water anymore, and based on what you have said I should be mantaining or losing and that would be my sing to get a higher intake but I don't stop gainig :( I need hepl whats wrong with me? I dont want to reach over 2000 cals because I already got the weigh I am sure is not water because I can see it in thights, arms, and belly..... any suggestion? is this normal? |

oh yeah thats kinda frustrating and I feel a bit discriminated, I live in south america and we eat different suff, so what I do it's to goolge the food, or if it was a dish made with some ingredients I rather go for the recipe analysis, but even that way I have truble with portion sizes because it seem to be that in america they eat huge and theyr food it's actually huge, or it is just my impression? well I mean what CC consider as a little potato in the database in my country is a big potato, eq 1 Cup of potatoe, so for me a little one its 1/2 cup, I have never seen a potato 300 grams big which it's the actual value for that quanity on cc. so what do you think? |

ok, thats great, HIIT it such a fat blaster, but still eating more cals than what you need to build muscle will make you gain fat no matter how clean your diet is, I told you because I know many body builders and as a rule they know there is no way to gain 100% clean muscle, even if you were eating barely 10% of your cals from fat cuz your body will become fat anything, even prots! I guess you should grow up an they vanish your fat, I have seen that's the way how body builders does it |

Original Post by vyperman7: I dont want to dissapoint you but if you gained weight you no matter how clean was your diet then you gained also fat, It could be you gained less fat and more muscle mass and it could be that having the amount of fat you had before plus the new muscle gained you lowered your fat % but I am affraind it is imposible to lose 10% of fat and gaining weight at the same time, besides those online calculators arent accurate, they mark me with 13% of fat and with caliper I mark 17 to 21% so they must me mistaken |

I'm going through the sam situation right now, I am ur same height but I weight a little bit less, the trouble is that I had used birth control pills for almost 4 years ( since I was 16) and now I am not able to keep buyin them because are pretty expensive and I got tired of taking them, when I stoped taking them my period did so, (5 moths ago) but someone have told me it is notrmal because y body was used to the pills and got lazy to produce the hormones the pills did for it.... I do't know what to think, but I want to wait because I already had a appt with the gyn and she said it was nothing wrong with me.... |

I have, but I am not sure if it was more kind of a laxative effect, so I would ask to my doctor fisrt, what my nutritiosit said was that flax seed was quite good not to let you store bad fat in your body and I took it during all my process, about your 100 clas plus per day, I dont know if it will have the same effect becaus I did not try it, but there where weeks where my total plus intake was 500 cals and nothing wrong happend so why not? just try it or do not let nobody press you till you still eat a little bit more every day, the first sings you will notice from recovering its no more purple finger, no mor chills and being cold all the time, midnight heats, more energy and so... hope you keep doing well. |

GIRL I JUST CAN TELL YOU NOW YOU CAN EAT WIHTOUT GUILT, guess what, after a huge struggling I ended up eating 1700 1900 cals a day NO GAINED A SINGLE POUND, and I can eat whatever I want, I mean cakes, fires and so, and I am not afraid of them anymore or craving because of restriction believe me, the best way to do it is increasing slowly (it took me 15 weeks to get from 700 cals per day to 1700... by increasing 50 plus per week, but IT WORKED and after all my effor I am plenty satisfied and no footsteps of ED. I weight 100 pounds. the same as when I started, I must say I dont weight myself anymore because I do not need it... my body just got used and feel safe and free to spend because I feed it well so it doesnt store fat.
HOPE YOU ARE DOING WELL HUN... TRUST ME... YOU Can actually beat ana.. just dont let her to frighten u.

I completelly agree with you and it happens the same to me, when I started going to the gym and the trainer measured me she said I had 15% of bf!!!! that I should gain a lot of fat and so, online it baiscally says the same to me, between 14 to 16% of bf, and then when I went to my nutritionist and she measured me with the skin fold method she said I was normally with 21% it was after 2 monts of hard lifht weighting, a lot of cardio and NO WEIGHT GAIN at all.... so whats wrong???? |

then I guess you have been spending a lot of cals at the gym because that is the only way you could be gaining now I have gained also, and my nutritionst expaned me its normal and it will take like 2 or 3 moths after you start eating the right nutrients to the body get relaxed and distribute rightly the weight, you will star losing fat that were stored just in case you will get starving yourself again but then when it turst you will lose, if dont, then wait to get stablished in your calories intake till you stop gaining, wait a month and they go bak to diet, but with no more 500 cals deficict a day, do cardio, eat 5 meals and thats all, it takes time but much better at the end. |

If you keep exercising eventually the weight will come off, but it takes time and even if you hate it dont stop eating well it could be worse |
