| Weight Loss | I'm terrible at this.. want to join me staying on the rails? | Mar 09 2009 13:42 (UTC) |

Hi, I have been on my diet for the last 3 months with a 33lb weight loss. I have not eliminated coffee in the morning. And once a week I allow myself spagetti. There is a great whole wheat spagetti out there and instead of sauce use 1tblsp of olive oil, minced garlic and stewed tomatoes with veggies. Healthy alternative since I was raised on pasta its hard to give it up. I quit smoking over 20 years ago and all of a sudden everything has a flavor. Good for you for doing it. Plus I have plateaus. So when I see Im slowing down on weight loss I have a no-diet day and eat what I want in moderation with no calorie counting that day. Kicks your body back in to losing again. So save your vices for that day! That way you dont deprive yourself. Good Luck! |

| Weight Loss | Biggest Loser - Bob you are such a crybaby! | Feb 27 2009 13:51 (UTC) |

You know what bob reminds me of? A mother dropping her kids off for daycare and coddling them, telling them dont worry it will be ok, only to sabotage there daycare worker for the first hour by them crying for there mother. He basically sabotaged jillian by having the contestants cry and worry they werent going to lose the weight with jillian. Next week will be another story. Personally, I like my guys with a little more testosterone! |

| Motivation | Getting really discouraged...Advice? | Feb 27 2009 01:42 (UTC) |

Hi Emerald, Im so happy your continuing to try. I have just lost my first 30 lbs and there are lots of motivators you can try. I agree with the advice about taking a certain amount of visits, such as to a gym to make it a habit. It took me a good half month. After that, I feel this strong urge to get there at the same time. Workout during the time that is the worst for your binges. I did this and reduced dinner. Boy did I like to graze on whatever was left. Everything gets put back in the fridge right after dinner. Most hot meals dont appeal to me cold. And out of sight out of mind. Another good motivator is purchasing weight loss magazine and reading stories of people that accomplished there weight loss goals. You say you get stressed from school, Take a walk before you study, it reduces stress and helps with the concentration. Oh, I made a rule, no eating after 5:00. I can have hot or cold green tea or water. Very satisfying. Before you workout have a cup of green tea. You will be surprised how much it motivates you. Also take your favorite upbeat music. All of these helped me. And finally, please take advantage of the diary to write down your thoughts and feelings about food. Everyone here has been where you are now. Posting your concerns is a great motivator, believe it or not everyone here wants to help! Good luck! |

| Weight Loss | Weekend...totally derailed | Feb 09 2009 14:38 (UTC) |

Hi, Ive been on my diet exercise routine for around 40 days and lost 25 lbs so far. My husband decided to have a poker party last week and invited 30 guys I cooked for it. My best hint is not to deprive yourself of anything your really craving. Like I made brownies they looked fantastic so I took a pinch. Belive me, after I took that pinch I knew what it tasted like and I felt great! My brain said, ok you got your taste now get back to work. I did that with those mini weenies dipped in bbq sauce too. Another trick I do is the tuperware trick. I can make goodies for my daughter and husband but everything goes in a tupperware container that I cannot see through. This is the only place I never go except to fill it up. If I make sweets or buy candy it goes in there. The only thing I ask of them is please keep your goodies in the tupperware. I really dont know why this works but it really works for me. Another hint is to pick the worst time in the day for when you usually cheat. Mine is the evening, and instead plan your workout around that time. Right before the workout heat up a cup of 2 of green tea. This is an awsome tip. When I workout I have not desire to eat when I get home. Good luck and keep up the good job! |

I have increased the fiber and I put it in smoothies excetera. A good one is milled flax seed. Only 2 tablespoons a day really helps. It really fills you up! Also it helps with that stubborn stomache weight! Remember the 2 Fs and less stress. Fiber, good fats and reduced stress. Did you know that cottage cheese contains more protein than a steak? Thought Id throw that one out there! Good luck |

weights will make you tone up and you would be surprised how much different you will look. I lost 20 and most of my fat around the hips and stomache. But not small weights. Max out on those, dont worry you wont get bulky and trust me, that metabolic burn will continue for longer than the work out. Mix that with arobic and you will definately notice. I tried to swim yesterday and practically left my bathing suit behind because of the inches I lost, guess I gotta get a new one of those. Good Luck!

Wow, 5'2" 98 lbs. Please just do me a favor? If you find your obsessing about food get some help. Thats one of the first signs of an eating disorder. I should know I had one at 16. I thought I was always fat, people thought I looked anorexic. Being malnourished leads to lots of other problems. Especially when your still growing. Good luck! Also, on your question. I have always put 100 calorie foods in my purse. You should be eating more than twice a day. Do it in the morning. From yogurts to the 100 calorie packets of crackers or rice cakes and put them in a seperate bag. That way you can have a snack through the day and not feel the need to binge later on. Its worth it in the end. |
