Weight Loss Counting clothes sizes.... Nov 09 2009

I'm a little size orrianted.  I've got quite a few UK size 14 clothes that I want to fit into comfortablely again.  At the moment I'm wearing UK size 18.  I was a UK size 14 when I was 18 and it was when I was at my happiest and fittest.  Think I'd be too skinny at a 12.  I have hips and I'm proud of them. Smile

To be honest I think you should just be a normal teen who doesn't worry about her weight and 'cheat days'.  The best thing to learn about at your age is to eat a healthy balanced died without having to count the cals.  Don't try and restrict your cals, you body will tell you when it's full.  Fast food is only bad for you if you eat it too much.  So basically there if nothing wrong with having a McDonalds or any other meals from fast food restraint as long as it's not all the time.  I maybe have 3-4 McDonalds a year.

I'm a little worried about your weight as well.  It can be just as bad for your health under eating as over eating.  You're a developing young lady and you're going to continue developing for a few more years yet.

Weight Loss When started counting calories Nov 04 2009

From the age of 13 my mum would 'pinch an inch' on me and tell me that I had to be careful of what I ait, at 14 I was put on my first diet and now I'm in a bit of a mess.  I look at pictures of myself when I was 14 and wish I was still that skinny.

It was only a year ago when I saw a picture of myself with my boyfriend and hated what I saw.  It was a shock and I started looking for a website to help me lose.  I found this, read about peoples success with it and started.  So that is the point I became concious about cals.  Before the only diet I'm been on was a crappy weight watchers diet which didn't do anything for me.  I learn nothing about what and how to eat untill I started with this sight.

Hey, welcome to CC.

I got a shock as well when I started a year ago of how much I acturly ait.  I'm on my next serious attempt to lose weight.  I've maintaned for the last 8 months or so and want to lose another stone by Christmas/New Year which could be interesting.

What I'm doing that's different from last time is planning my meals in advance.  Tomorrow I know exactly what I'm going to eat and how many cals it's going to use.  I'm in my first week and it's going well so far.

Keep making the healthy choices, but also think about what you're eating.  One you've been doing this a while you'll get a good idea how many cals are in each thing.  For me I was suprised how much cals where in rice.  Yes, it's all healthy stuff, but it is fairly high in cals.

Your first 2-3 weeks are going to be the hardest, but when you get past them, it starts getting easy.

When I reach my ideal weight I would....

feel like I have beaten the odds.  My mum is fat and my sister's weight goes up and down all the time.
I will feel like I can dress in whatever I like and still look and feel good.
I will be able to go climbing and not have to come off an overhang because my body is too heavy to pull up.
I won't feel fat when I'm among a group of friends.

I'm about to start something a little new. I'm a bit of a greedy pig.  Unlike most people, I'll have two sandwich instead of one, or a mountain on my plate.  I'm going to try and cut every meal in half, so have half portions.  I'm also going to have a pint of water with every meal.  If I'm still hungry, I'm going to attack the tomatoes.  For some reason I've got a thing for tomatoes at the min.  It's going to be hard to resist the chocolate cake at work, but it'll be worth it.

Although I don't agree entirly with Samantha, she has a good point.  Yes, we do need to excersice as well as a healthy diet, but your body will tell you when it's had enough as well.

Take it slow to begin with.  After an injory it's hard to get back into the swing of things.  Start off with just some light excersice, enough to make you feel good about yourself but not so much that you're putting yourself in pain.  Even if you just do a fast walk around the block you've done something to be proud of.

For me it's refusing to get the bus or a taxi from town to work no matter how crap the weather or how tired I am.  It's about a mile.  Also, I never walk up the slope on the West side of the building, I always take the stairs on the East side.  If there's no hurry to be somewhere in the building, I'll take the stairs, even to the third level (that's quite alot of stairs.  I often check protected fire roots are clear, so that's more stairs.

I don't do alot of exersice these days, but when I'm at work I stay very active.

I don't excersise to lose weight, I excersise to stay healthy and I enjoy it.  I go climbing at least once a week and when there's good weather and a bunch of friends, I go walking.  From training over the last few weeks I can pull off harder moves on the wall and have the stammana to get myself to the top of the high wall.  And to be honest I've not lost any weight over the last few weeks.  I can only really controll that with food intake which is the case with most people.  So that means not having that chocolate brownie at work or the biscuits after dinner.  A diet combined with excersise is the way to go.

Basically, as your body gets smaller, it needs less food to run, so your matabilism drops.  It means you're doing well, although it does make those last few pounds really anoying.

Everyone's weight fluctuates on a daily basis, you're not weird.  I tend up go up and down 2-4 pounds over a week, sometimes just over a day when I get addicted to the scales.  Just try and weigh yourself once a week and you'll mostly see a steady drop.  Sounds like you're doing a good job loosing so don't worry yourself. x

Weight Loss Do you ever fear you will wake up and discover the weight is all back? May 22 2009

I let myself slip for about a month and was scared to step on the scales incase I was at 14+ stone again, but when I steped on the scales before the next lot of 6 weeks cal counting, I was suprised to find I'm only put 4bls back on and that was even after a fairly big meal.  I'm well on track again to losing another stone over the next 6 weeks.

So basically, yes, I'm always scared the weight's going to come back.  At the moment I love how my feet don't hurt as much when I've fin a week on the cafe, I love how my climbing harness is starting to get on the big side for me and that I'll need to get a new one by the end of the summer (eyeing a nice black-dimond up), and I love how I'm pulling myself up climbs and pulling off moves that I never thought I'd be able to do.

Although that fear is always going to be there in the back, I think it's best just not to think about it all the time.  Don't beat yourself up because you caved to the chocolate cookie with your cup of hot chocolate or beat yaself up because you gained a couple of bls. I think we all feel like we're fatter than we are sometimes aswell.  Sometimes feels good to put a pair of jeans on that you've not worn in a while to see how much room you've got in them.  I'm at the point where my 18s are falling off me but my 16s are a little tight (UK sizes).

I'll be the first to say it.  You're stunning and you defo don't need to lose any weight.  You've got a body that me and many of the other girls on here would kill for.  Just focus on keeping your fitness up and maintaining.  I'm scared that if you get any skinnier you'll just end up feeling ill and tired all the time.

as a rule I only plan to get drunk on my birthday.  this will be the one day where I don't even think about cals, although I won't be going over the top.  My boyfriend has last say on things.  That way I won't be going over the top.

not matter how hard you try you are going to gain the week leading up to your period, but as long as you watch your cals you'll lose it by the end of your period and more on top of that if ya lucky.  Although you may want to attack the chocolate, don't.  If you have to attack the chocolate, get someone to look after the chocolate bar for you so you can only have a little bit at a time. When I get to 12st (14lbs to the st for you US guys) I'm going to buy myself a sexy pair of skinny red jeans.  That should hopefully be by the begining of summer.

My next big treat will be my boyfriends resposibility.  Already told him.  For my 24th birthday I want a new sexy dress, some nice shoes (possibally heals) and a fancy meal.  Told him to start saving for it. :)  So that'll be in just over a years time and I hope to be about 10st, maybe 9 1/2st.  Looking forward to it already. :)

lmao!!!  Sorry, can't help it.  It's funny but it's not...  Least you didn't make as much of a mess as my mum did.  Happened when my dad first went into hospic and she was stressed as hell.  Anyway, she was pulling up on the drive and instead of pushing the brake she pushed the the gas.  God knows what she was thinking, but she swirved and hit the front of the house.  All my dad could say when he was well enough to tease her was, 'why couldn't you hit the garage door, I wanted a new garage door'.  Also on top of that the dog who was about 6 months at the time was too scared to go anywhere near the window for months. I'm a brit and know a little about her.  It's all big news over here at the min.  She's done what many people have wanted to do and since appearing on Big Brother she's made her million and more.  I'm not really entirely sure why she wants to do this so publically.  She's been in the public eye since she was about 18 and I guess it's just normal for her now.  Lots of people when they get cancer want to continue life normally as if nothing has happened.  Guess there's not point just given in without liveing a bit more first.

Don't worry too much about it.  Everyone's alowed to fall off the wagon once and a while.  what you have to learn to do is do it in moderation.  if I know I'm going to have a big naughty meal I have something painfully healthy for lunch and don't snack through the day.  The only exception to that rule will be my birthday in a couple of weeks although I've got the anoying feeling my boyfriend's going to be controling what  I eat to an extent.  Probs limit me to my bit of chocolate cake and few vods and coke with my pizza.

Weight Loss Does it ever make you sad to see your family members eating junk? Feb 22 2009

I know what you're getting at.  I'm finding this weight loss thing really difficult because of the food my mum buys.  She just doesn't seem to have any idea on what healthy is.  Last time she went shopping she got loads of stuff for the freezer.  pizzas aren't great for a diet.  I want to see more veg in the fridge but there's just more in the freezer.  I'm not overly fussed on those veg steamed in a bag things.  Also, I'm getting really bored of pasta.  I love it but not that much.  Salad draws also looking pretty empty aswell.

Anoyingly you just can't forse someone to change their habbits.  I'm always watching my mum and sister eat things like McDonnalds and chip shop chips.  All I can do is refuse to eat them.
