It is great you are recognising those habits from your past (i.e - over exercising) will prevent you from achieving your goals. Therefore, I suggest joining a gym and seeing a personal trainer. The benefit of this is the trainer can help tailor exercise that will best suit you and your goals and give you the basis for an exercise program. For them to best help you they would need to know your exercise history so its important to be up front. Now gyms and especially personal trainers can be expensive. My approach has been to see a Personal Trainer for 4 or 5 sessions, learn what you can from them and take this new found information to develop your own program. Hope this helps

What you are comfortable with is important! I think the approach to build muscle is a good suggestion but it does mean you need to adopt a fairly aggressive weights program to develop muscle. It also means you will need to increase your calorie intake to have the necessary energy stored to develop muscle without compromising your ability to maintain your current weight. I would suggest you check out a few web sites to do with body building and if you haven't already, consider joining a gym or speak with a personal trainer.
Good luck |

Agree that home made milkshakes are much better than supplements. In the past I have spent lots of dollars on protein shakes. I now conclude that there nutritional content is not all that it is said to be. As a general question, do you guys have like a set meal plan that becomes your routine. I spent most of yesterday scouring through my kitchen trying to find the next thing to eat. I would feel more in control with a meal plan. Maybe its just a personal choice.

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond. Your advice was great! I realised that one of my drawbacks to meeting my desired calorie intake was breakfast time. In my case, I exercise in the morning and then head straight to work. This means my calorie intake doesn't really start till mid morning or lunchtime. So today I took your advice and after the gym I went to the supermarket and brought the eqivalent of your Tuesday breakfast (with some minor adjustments) So far I am already over 1000 calories which means I am in a better position to meet my target. So, is a fried Banana and PB sandwich really nice?? Never tried it. |
