I drink green tea every morning without sugar and love it! Try adding some lemon and honey...that might make it more tolerable for you. |

Wait...what is this about you being a mutant? I clicked on this because I'm 28 and don't know how to swim either, but I'm totally thrown off by the whole mutant thing. Expliquez s'il vous plait! |

Face, neck, chest, and arms....then down to my thighs and then the upper half of my stomach. I'm still working on losing this belly and this back fat. |

Oh ok. I went to John Carroll in University Heights so I'm familiar with the east side. I used to play softball in high school and we'd have tournements in Willowick all the time. Glad to see you're enjoying your Tuesday! |

| Health & Support | Spotting while exercising, is this normal? | Aug 03 2009 21:13 (UTC) |
|
I'm not sure if it's normal, but I recently experienced the same thing. There was about 2 weeks where every morning when I went running at 5:30AM I spotted. It was a lot, but like you it stopped immediately when I was done running. It hasn't happened in awhile, but I did have a friend who said the same thing started happening to her...and it also was only temporary. I was going to check with my doctor, but it stopped so I didn't. I say if it continues make a doctor's appointment. I doubt it's a big deal, but you can never be too safe! |

| Weight Loss | Has anyone reached their goal weight and then realized that they're not as thin as they thought they'd be!? | Jul 26 2009 13:07 (UTC) |

Yeah, that excitement is gone! You're so right. When I first started losing weight every pound lose was cause for celebration. Now I'm just stressed the hell out about it! I only weigh in once a week now (I was doing it everyday for a minute there and drove myself absolutely INSANE doing that), but maybe I'll chill for a minute and take some time to reevaluate why I'm really doing this and to be proud of how far I've come already. Thank you everyone for your kind words and advice! |

Thank you! I know that now my battle is going to be toning and maintenance from now on. I don't know...it's just thought I'd look different, you know? But I've come this far and I'm certainly not going to give up. |

| Weight Loss | Last ten pound troubles | Jun 09 2009 16:09 (UTC) |

This is my EXACT same situation. We are the same height, but I'm 165lbs...and I have desparately been trying to get down to 155lbs for the past few months now. Everyone keeps telling me the same thing, but I want my BMI to atleast be 23 and not 24. I'm barely hanging in there too so I feel your pain girl! So here's what I did to handle those people - I stopped mentioning that I wanted to lose 10lbs. If everyone is giving you **** about it - stop telling them. Period end of story. Going on about having a 'healthy BMI' makes it seem like you're obsessive about it and the people that love you are going to try and tell you over and over again that you look just fine the way you are. It's a GOOD thing they're telling you that. But in the future - just stop telling them and the comments will slowly subside. Just focus on your goals and stay on track and you'll be fine. Good luck!

Get a second opinion pronto! I had the EXACT same thing happen to me and it's because I had gi-normous cysts on my ovaries. I've since had them removed and voila - no more kick ass period cramps! Well, at least not the kind that make me writhe on the floor in pain. My doctor pulled that 'take birth control' stuff at first too and I thought the same thing as you...I'm a lesbian and was like really? A birth control pill? Is there another way? There was and now it's much better. |

| Motivation | What are you proud of from your new healthy lifestyle?!? | May 19 2009 17:49 (UTC) |
|
1.) I love that that now when I have pictures taken of me from the side I'm not self conscious about how big my upper arm will appear if it's laying flat against my side. 2.) I absolutely LOVE that I can walk into any store and buy clothes. There's nothing holding me back! 3.) I love that I can wear 'skinny jeans' and actually look skinny in them. 4.) I love that when I wear shorts now! I never use to before because they would ride up and expose the 'chub rub' going on with my thighs. 5.) I love that I can BORROW clothes from friends. It's been a LONG time since I could do that. 6.) I love that my body craves working out and healthy foods. 7.) I love that my asthma (aka I can't breathe because I'm too damn big) is gone. 8.) I love that I'm no longer the 'big girl' in my group of friends. 9.) I love that it is absolutely necessary that I own and wear belts now. Before they were just for decoration...if I could find any big enough. 10.) I love that I'm not SUPER self conscious in a bathing suit anymore. I still definitely have my problem areas, but I'm not walking around the beach in long t-shirts anymore! 11.) I love how my legs look in heels now. I like how the muscles are really defined. It reminds me of how much work I've put into those legs and how far I've come! 12.) I love that I am considered a 'runner' now. I HATED running and now I crave it. I'm really proud of how much my endurance has grown in the past 5 years. The older I get the better I feel! Ok, I could probably list like a million more things I'm proud of or love, but I'll stop now and give someone else a chance. Yay for change! |

| Health & Support | Curious About Green Tea | Apr 23 2009 19:23 (UTC) |

I am a green tea fanatic and its what I drink in the afternoons when I get the urge to snack and it fills me right up until dinner time. It's also the only tea I don't really feel the need to add any sugar too. Oh, and I drink the organic decaffeinated kind so I do get all jittery. So far it has really helped me stay under my daily allowance. Try it! It definitely doesn't hurt

1) last thing you ate: Low fat cat shaped (yes, shaped like a cat) ginger bread cookies from Trader Joe's 2) last thing you drank: Water 3) the next thing you're going to eat: Hmmm...I have no idea actually. I'm thinking for dinner I'll make my favorite of cheesy rice and broccoli. 4) the next thing you're going to drink: Water. I only drink water these days. 5) are you craving anything right now?: Nope, but I am a little hungry. 6) what's your favorite pie flavour?: I'm not a huge pie fan, but if I had to pick it would be lemon meringue...sans the white stuff on top. So I guess just the lemon and not the 'meringue'. LOL 7) name a food you're tired of: If I got tired of any foods do you'd think I'd need this website!? 8) name a food you hate: If I hated any foods do you'd think I'd need this website!? 9) what's your favorite meal of the day?: Breakfast hands down. Breakfast makes my soul happy. 10) what's your favorite vegetable?: Anything green, but especially asparagus. I don't even care that it makes your pee smell funny! I could eat it by the dozens! |

| Weight Loss | Does calorie counting actually work for you? | Apr 20 2009 17:23 (UTC) |
4 |
I was successful before calorie counting, but the weight didn't come off nearly as quickly as it does now. I just had no clue as to how much I was eating or how many calories were in some of my favorite foods before I started on this website. Now that I'm more aware I'm definitely much more careful, but not necessarily restrictive. I just know that if I splurge and eat McDonald's that I'm going to have to really cut back for the rest of the day...or really pick up my workput. Calorie counting was the finaly step I needed to take in order to achieve my ultimate weight loss goal...it has been what I've been missing all these years :-) |

Hello tall ladies! I did it - I hit my first goal of 165! WOOHOO! I never thought I'd get there and I did. Now I'm working on switching it up a bit because my ultimate goal is 155. However, I'm surprised at some of the weights people are trying to achieve in here. I saw a few 125s but everyone in here is 5'10'' and above...isn't that super thin? I can't even fathom ever weighing in the 120s...in fact I don't think I ever did! If I get down to the 140s I will literally will cry with tears of joy, but for now I'm at 165 and feeling like a million bucks. Good luck to all in this forum in their weight loss journey! I'll check back in next week with my progress :-) |

Hahahaha I thought I was the only one that felt like this! "OH MY GOSH! YOU LOST SO MUCH WEIGHT! YOU LOOK GREAT! WOW, YOU JUST LOST SOOOO MUCH WEIGHT! AMAZING!" I mean, it doesn't really even seem like a compliment anymore, ya know? It's just so extreme you don't know what yo do. When they're reactions like that it means that you must have been GI-NORMOUS before, right? I guess it's better than them being like 'holy hell you're as big as a house' now isn't it!? |

Actually it sounds like you probably aren't eating enough calories. If you workout as insane as you say you do then you need to up those calories and then you'll see the weight start to come off. |

Original Post by zifhip: #45 definitely hit home for me and is the main reason I'm on this website today. My father, his father, my father's oldest brother and one of his sister all passed away around age 50 from weight related issues - heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol etc. After my Father died in 2004 I promised myself that I would NOT go out like that. I WILL be there to see my children get married. I WILL be there to see my grand kids. Hell, I WILL be there to see my great grand kids. Since 2004 I have lost close to 50lbs and I'm never looking back! God bless all of those who struggle with weight loss - hang in there and good luck!

Welcome back! I'm realtively new to this site and so far it helped me lose almost 10lbs. I had no idea how many calories I was taking in so it has been a real eye opener. Like you, I had lost a lot of weight (went from 220 - 175) and then stayed the same for a few years and now I'm looking to jump start the weight loss again. And so far I've been pretty successful. Good luck in your weight loss journey! |

I love Aldi's and go all the time! It didn't use to be so great, but I do love thier Fit n Active stuff. I buy most of my groceries there except for some items that I'm a name brand snob (ie. peanut butter - I love my Peter Pan!). Other than that I can spend $100 there and be stocked for WEEKS! If it's in your neighborhood I highly recommend it Oh, and for those of you too scared because their Aldi's is located in the 'ghetto' are missing out. Just because it's a place that sells inexpensive food doesn't mean you'll get mugged... |

| Motivation | Vacation = terrible eating! | Feb 24 2009 19:24 (UTC) |

Don't stress about it too much. There's no use in beating yourself up over it. Just go back to your routine of working out and eating well and chalk it up to an 'oops' moment. I go through the same thing everytime I stay at my Mom's house over the holidays or for any kind of event. We pretty much eat out for every meal...and I do little to no working out at all. Honestly, you'd really have to go crazy to GAIN a bunch of weight. And then stressing out about it afterwards makes losing any weight you may have gained even worse. When I know I'm going home for an extended amount of time I try to increase my calorie deficit the week prior and then do that for the week after and then I'm usually back on track. So - no worries love. Keep doing what you're doing and it'll be fine. |

Original Post by amwilmarth: Ok, I've tried the Fiber One Bars and the Fiber Plus Bars and both of them are so delicious I want to cry. I'm going to stick with the Fiber Plus bars from now on though because they're only 120 calories while the Fiber One bars are 140. Either way - I'm addicted and I can see why some many people could eat a whole box! |
