Yes, I have encountered the exact same thing. When I started out on CC I was working out 4-5 days a week and eating what CC recommended (1200-1400 cals a day). At this point I was struggling to lose weight -- less than 1 lb a week. About a month and a half in I hurt my foot and was unable to exercise anymore (or even really walk). I continued eating the exact same amount of food but did ZERO exercise. I dropped 6 lbs in 3-4 weeks!  I think it is very easy to over-exercise/over-diet and get our bodies into a starvation mode. Relaxing things a bit can jump-start our bodies and actually get the fat burned.

Motivation Anyone have weightloss success eating over 1600 cals? Mar 17 2009

It definitely sounds like you might not be getting enough calories.

If you are exercising so much and yet eating so little, your body is not getting enough energy for your muscles to grow. This means your body will be continually breaking down the muscle you are gaining. If this is the case, your body will also be afraid of starvation and cling to your fat stores. If you eat more, your body will figure out it is not starving to death, your muscles will grow (which ups your metabolism) and your fat will burn.

I believe the general rule of thumb is to be down 500-1000 calories a day, so you could probably go up in calories quite a bit. Maybe try 2000-2200 for awhile?

Foods why is McCann's steel cut oats different? Mar 15 2009

I would assume the difference would be that 1/4 cup of dry oats becomes 1/2 cup of cooked oats (because of the water absorption).

Yes, a month is a very long time between BMs. The longer the stool stays within the colon the more water is removed, so constipation can result in very hard stools. This is not a good thing for your body as there is a greater chance of tearing the anal walls causing a fissure or causing hemorrhoids. You do not want this. You definitely need to get yourself on a more regular schedule.

Adding more fiber can definitely help. Prunes are high in fiber. Another thing to think about is picking up some Metamucil. A few tablespoons of that in water every day (maybe even twice a day) does wonders for your regularity. Metamucil is also easy to use regularly and you don't have to keep looking at the fiber contents of your bread/cereal/other foods and try and estimate if you have had enough for the day.

If you want to hurry the process immediately, you can look into laxative pills, though they often take up to 12 hours to work. Another option is to go pick up glycerin suppositories. This will make you go in about 5 minutes.

If you have a painful BM or see blood in your stool, please go to your doctor. This could be an indication of hemorrhoids or an anal fissure.

Health & Support Levothyroxine + Contraceptive? Feb 11 2009

Actually, the Estrogen from contraceptive pills reduces the body's ability to absorb the thyroid hormone. However, this is only an issue if you take the two medicines at the same time. You *must* take them at least a few hours apart. Believe me, I know this because I decided to save time and take both at the same time and I could immediately tell. You can also do a Google search and find this same info. So right now I take the Levothyroxin first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach, and BC in the evening, at the same time each day.
