| Weight Loss | Cake!! | Sep 17 2009 15:52 (UTC) |

Simple solution, don't buy it, if you bake it just bake a limited quantity or give away most of it and just keep a small bit for yourself. I specifically dont' buy crisps for this reason, if they aren't in the house I can't eat them and when I do buy them I buy a little bag only so I am limited to eating a reasonable amount and can't end up with regrets lol. |

| Young Calorie Counters | How are you exercising?! | Sep 17 2009 14:19 (UTC) |

I am 5ft 5, was 210 pounds, now 160 pounds and have only been doing walking as my exercise. Nothing else, do up to 6 miles a day during the week and around 2-4 miles a day in the weekends. Started off eating around 1800 cals but currently eating 1600 per day. Was eating 1350 but have upped it as not as worried about losing now and more aiming to maintain and become stable weight wise. |

| Weight Loss | Confused | Sep 17 2009 11:06 (UTC) |

Amethyst summed it up well. Basically your body requires energy for you to exercise and not pass out and if you aren't eating enough calories for that then either it starts storing more fat out of what you are eating as reserves or it draws the calories out of your body as you said. Try not to exceed the 1000 cal deficit to prevent this happening. |

| Fitness | Working out is giving me WORSE Cellulite?!?!? | Sep 16 2009 15:39 (UTC) |

Its not giving you worse cellulite its just that you are losing fat cells and its making the cellulite you already have more obvious in appearance. Everyone has cellulite, even the very skinny girls - heck I was watching a movie last night and Kirsten Dunst had cellulite. Cellulite is something you either get or you don't you can reduce the appearance of it but I don't believe there is any proven way to get rid of it naturally. Just look at the positives like the defined muscles and the lose of fat. |

Ribena light drinks, liquid tends to fill you up more than actual snacks. Sultanas or raisins but you might get sticky fingers with them. Rice crackers. Water crackers - they both fill you up pretty well. Dried fruit with no added sugar, just not too much or you might be stopping fairly regularly! lol |

| Weight Loss | Stuck in a rut.... | Sep 14 2009 13:33 (UTC) |

To be honest I would suggest increasing your cals as it sounds like adding on your exercise you aren't actually eating enough calories. And also increasing your calories can also move your body out of its ruts and help you start losing again. |

| Motivation | How long does it take to drop a pant size? | Sep 14 2009 11:18 (UTC) |
9 |
I have dropped a dress size each 4-5 week period at this stage, but it all depends on how big you were to start with. The bigger you are when you start losing the quicker you lose and therefore the quicker your pant size drops. I lost 50 pounds and only dropped from a UK 18/20 to a UK 14 where as other people I know could lose 50 pounds and drop another couple of dress sizes. Part of it is dependent on your natural body shape and also where you lose weight from. I lose my weight from the butt and leaves till about the last 2 months when it started going from the tummy. Maybe you pant size will come down after your top size has lol |

| Young Calorie Counters | Anyone anoyed at the super metabolism girls? | Sep 14 2009 11:16 (UTC) |
1 |
Unfortunate fact of life. My brother was like this, could eat 3 big mac combos in a go and that was just a snack. He was 6ft 3 and never strayed from skinny. Until he hit his 30's! Then he pilled on the stomach fat and struggled after having eaten so much to having to actually watch what he ate. So you may find this girl goes through the same changes as she gets older and her metabolism naturally slows. Also, I have a girl I work with who is super skinny, barely 50kg. She claims that she eats everything she wants and will have chips, dip and rubbish whilst at work but in talking to her the other day she commented that she got to dinner time on Saturday and (giggle like a blonde) realised she hadn't eaten anything all day and so had a piece of toast. And that she does this a lot. So don't automatically assume that just because you see her eating 1000 cals in a hit that she actually eats anything else when you are not around lol. No offense to blondes intended as I am a bottle one! |

| Weight Loss | Losing weight by November? | Sep 14 2009 11:13 (UTC) |
2 |
The big problem with cheat days is how much you cheat. ie if you overeat by say 2000 calories then that could mean that you end up gaining weight for the week and then suddenly instead of needing to lose 2.5 pounds per week you suddenly have to lose 3 and it starts getting harder. If you mean a cheat day where instead of having a 500-700 deficit you eat as many cals as you burn then no it probably won't make any difference although it may slow your weekly loss and as such you may need bigger deficits on the other days or do more exercise another day to make up for it so you stay on target. |

Based on your exercise levels, your current weight and height I would question if you are eating enough calories, did you input the information and ask cc for a recommended daily intake? I would expect that with that level of activity that you should be eating at least 1900 calories per day. |

| Weight Loss | Is anyone else experiencing jealousy/negative comments from others? | Sep 11 2009 16:47 (UTC) |
39 |
I must admit I haven't had any negative comments but I think that's because no one would have the balls to dare. I do constantly get the "you must be doing something special" because they want to think there is some magic pill that makes it happen instantly, even though they have seen me do it over 5 months. I really hate that people desperately want to know how I have lost the weight and when told the truth suddenly aren't interested and say "I couldn't do that" |

Have you had your blood pressure checked as it can be a sign of high blood pressure in which case you can't stop it. My husband has high blood pressure from his diabetes and has been advised against those exercises that make him lightheaded in case he flakes. |

| Fitness | Do you really HAVE TO exercise? | Sep 11 2009 15:29 (UTC) |

Technically you don't have to exercise to lose weight because if you eat less than you burn just breathing then you will lose weight. But you will end up flabby and also at some point you are likely to plateau and only be able to continue losing weight by starting to exercise. Also being skinny and unfit isn't that much better for you than being fat and unfit so the reason we exercise isn't entirely to help with the weight loss but because its healthy for your body, blood circulation, toning etc. |

| Motivation | Completely frustrated--weight GAIN! | Sep 11 2009 14:01 (UTC) |
|
Ok, first of all if you feel like you eating nothing I would suggest that you are eating high calorie foods and want to find some low calorie options that allow you to eat more. Remember that eating too little can cause your body to store so dont' have any more than a 500-700 deficit per day and if you are exercising make sure you are eating enough to fuel your body. I love jelly as its around 10 cals per cup and I use it as a filler if I am hungry after dinner. I also use fruit as a filler a lot as it can help fill the gap without whacking up your calories or a low calorie yoghurt at 50 cals. I have reduced my bread because I found that was using up a lot of my allowable calories and have changed my lunches to soup and other lower cal options so that I can eat more actual food for the same calories. Hope that helps? :) |

| Weight Loss | Confused about target calories vs. excercise. | Sep 11 2009 13:58 (UTC) |
1 |
For me personally I found it easiest to set my activity level at sedentary and then log all activity so that worst case scenario I am underestimating my burn and I won't have any bad surprises when it comes to weigh in each week. My daily auto burn is around 1600 cals so and my daily allowable eat is 1600 cals (I am maintaining not trying to lose) if I do a 1 hour run of 500 additional calories burnt I then increase my allowable eating by at least 300-500 cals as your daily allowance will not increase to take into account the extra calories you are burning. When I was losing weight then I usually ate 75% or thereabouts of any additional exercise calories I burnt each day so that I still kept my deficit and increased it slightly but ate more to compensate for my bodies extra need for nutrients. |

| Weight Loss | constipated and dejected! | Sep 11 2009 11:16 (UTC) |

Prunes prunes the musical fruit, eat a few of those and you should clear out. Or try a simple product like sensokat that you just take a tablet and it loosens things without causing any dashing. I have found that since I have been eating healthy for the last 5 months I have suffered constipation which I never suffered as an unhealthy eater, I think its because you eat less physical food though. Not a nice side effect of eating healthy though lol. |

| Weight Loss | DO you talk about your weight loss? | Sep 09 2009 14:45 (UTC) |
5 |
Most people want to lose weight and can't because they try fad diets and because of that most of them don't want to hear about your success unless they are friends. Well that is what I have experienced anyway. Everyone was really supportive with me when I first started but 5 months on and with the weight down and staying down I have noticed that it annoys them because I have done what they couldn't do. So personally, I don't talk about my weightloss anymore other than to my close friends. The people who notice I have lost weight tend to imply I must have done something other than just changing my eating habits, because they want to think I had a magic cure. It really annoys me when I tell them and they keep saying, "but what else did you use". |

| Fitness | Can this fat chic be a runner? | Sep 09 2009 14:41 (UTC) |

Lose weight! The pressure you will put on your joints running at that weight could cause you long term damage. At 160 I am just now considering running as I ran the last time I tried to lose weight at around 190 and it completed stuffed my knees and years later I still have knee problems. Running is one of the hardest exercises on your joints and being heavy means that you are putting too much pressure on them. I would highly suggest that if you have to run, lose weight first. Swimming is exactly the same calorie burn and no pressure on your joints. Learn from someone who stuffed their joints running whilst too heavy! |

Technically if you ate nothing but chocolate but still ate 500 cals per day less than you burnt you would probably lose weight but also possibly cause yourself huge health problems. Other than doing something completely stupid like that don't worry you will naturally eat healthier doing this because you learn that the high cal foods don't fill you up and you can eat three times as much low cal healthy food so naturally start selecting the low cal healthier options. Don't panic and just get comfortable before worrying. |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | What's the chance? | Sep 09 2009 12:07 (UTC) |

When I came off the pill I didn't have a period for 8 weeks! Your body has forgotten how to regulate itself so I doubt that its pregnancy, also after taking the pills for years it can take months for you to even be close to pregnancy as it has sort of a cumulative effect according to my doctor. Of course, some people immediately become pregnant but don't be surprised if the pregnancy does take some time. Also the weight loss, combined with the increased exercise will naturally delay your period. Increased exercise usually delays it in my experience. |

| Health & Support | Question, this does not make sense! Plz help me figure it out.. | Sep 09 2009 11:44 (UTC) |

I would suggest that whilst you were sick you weren't eating much and as such your body entered starvation mode so is now storing, you should find that you will level out in the next couple of weeks as your body returns to normal. |

| Maintaining | Do you still count calories while maintaining? | Sep 09 2009 11:32 (UTC) |

I must admit that I have done 1 week without counting and haven't gained any weight and feeling good about that as it indicates that I have the food thing sorted in my head but I am going to continue counting for the next few months just to make sure that I stay on track and don't slip. I will be looking at not counting for 1 week per month and provided I don't put on any weight in the next 3 months I will then stop counting unless I start gaining at which point I will immediately restart counting. |

| Weight Loss | Could someone review my calorie level and nutrient breakdown | Sep 09 2009 11:31 (UTC) |
1 |
Just to give you some positive news. I was 210 pounds when I started and have lost 50 pounds without focusing on breaking down my nutrients etc. I simply ate the recommended calorie intake, tried to have a balanced meal (still including 20 grams of chocolate per day) didn't become too restricted and walked every day to and from work. I had a 500-700 calorie deficit in my eating vs burning and it worked a treat without being too restrictive or too obsessed. Remember, by reducing your calories you naturally start eating healthier as you learn that the higher the calories the less food you can eat for the day lol. If you want any support let me know. |

| Weight Loss | Emotional Binging? | Sep 09 2009 11:28 (UTC) |

I think the big thing you need to realise is that you can't tell them what to eat. If they are happy being overweight and eating rubbish there is nothing you can do other than state your concern about their health and leave it up to them to decide what they want to do. Don't take their weight problems onto your shoulders as its like any other addiction, if they dont' admit they have a problem with food and dont' want help then they won't accept help and you will just hit your head against the wall. Be happy in yourself with how you are and just accept your parents and family as they are and don't expect them to change. Certainly don't push the healthy eating message down their throats as all that does is get their backs up and reduce the chances that they might eventually come round to wanting to change :) |

| Motivation | What is your motivation to get to the gym? | Sep 09 2009 11:25 (UTC) |

I dont' have any motivation to go to the gym, I hate gyms and that is why I walk. It may not be muscle specific but I have still lost 50 pounds with walking to work each day and its been free and means I haven't had to step one foot inside a gym. Also once you start walking to work you are committed so it doesn't take the same mental commmitment as getting dressed and going to the gym lol. |

| Weight Loss | How do I lose weight without starving myself?? | Sep 09 2009 11:24 (UTC) |
3 |
Hey the good news is that burning calories is burning calories and walking or housework can do just as much good for you. I am do no gym work, just walking and I have lost and am still losing weight. Its basic. Eat less calories than you burn per day and if you eat around 500-700 per day less than you burn you will lose around 2 pounds per week which means you will easily lose weight (healthily) in time for the wedding. I found this site fantastic and use it to track my food exactly, know what cals I am going to burn for the day without any walking at all and aim to eat 300 cals less than my sedentary burn and then add in 1 hour of walking to up my burn to a deficit of 600 for the day. |
