How much do you trust your scale? |

I have two scales. One a 15 year old spring type, and the other a modern digital. The old one weighs correctly, and the digital agrees with the old one after about five minutes of getting on and off, and coming and going. At least I get some additional exercise testing it out. |

1500 cals? Too much |

Enter everything you eat in your food log for a day or so and see how many calories you are eating. You can't beat knowing instead of guessing.
Looking up foods here may take some getting used to since some things require adjustment as to weight or servings, and not every food is listed. You may need to enter some manually in the Add It Here section. Just try at least to get the calories if nothing else. You don't have to enter everything if you don't know or are intimidated by the form as I was at first.
It can be done, so don't be discouraged. |

How do I set my mother straight? |

Probably been said by now, but you're her baby. If you weighed 1,000 pounds she wouldn't see you as being overweight. Moms are always right. Don't argue, thank her for her support and let her know how much you love and appreciate her, frequently, cause one day you won't be able to do that anymore.

Carbohydrate percentage - Too high? |

A thought, gals and guys. CC's analysis is based on food weight, not calories. You can have 50% of your daily calories in carbs, (good carbs.) So, on a 1200 calorie diet, you could have 600 calories in the good carbs.
On second thought, I probably don't know what I'm talking about:)

Don't make the mistake of chasing these numbers around. It will drive you crazy. If you have been here a while, check a range of time, say the 28th to the next 28th to see what your average is. I think it is just a reference and should not run your life. And I read that 40% is considered a low carb diet, so 69% is not that bad :)

I just wanted to give you some advice. Push the issue with your doc. I was in the hospital for 4 days last year because I was losing my vision, getting clammy, feeling weak/nauseous sometimes while standing or walking for long periods of time. If you have these symptoms please call your doc or go to ER immediately! I am F 125-135 and 5'10'. It would hit suddenly and would go away after sitting for a few minutes. They kept me because of LBP. they were trying to figure out why and still haven't decided if it is because I have MS or my weight. I lost about 50 lbs in a year so they sent me to a nutritionist. I also have to take a water pill, salt pill (both prescription) and Zoloft to up my BP. Get to wear prescription stockings too to keep the blood by my heart and brain (not cute!!). LBP can be very serious if untrreated which I didn't know. You could have a stoke, heart failure, heart attack, ect. Please for your sake talk to your doc and either get help or ask them ways to try to up your BP. Salt, soy sauce, peanuts, ham, sunflower seeds were recommended to me! Please take care of yourself!
Jenny, Just wondering why you need a water pill, since that should lower your blood pressure as well, though I guess it's because of the salt intake? -Jerry
