yes you can get it with skim milk.  If you have one of the flavored iced lattes, they will have some sugar in the syrup, but you can still get the nonfat milk.  I treat myself every once in awhile to a iced hazelnut nonfat latte.

Health & Support binge foods in my house May 23 2009

I know what you mean.  I take care of my disabled father who likes those nice unhealthy sweet and salty binge foods too.  Loves his chocolate bars especially when I deprive him of alcohol...Money mouth  I find I do OK (or at least have a chance) is if I put those types of food in places that are hard for me to get to, but accessible to him.  I have a snack box for him, it's just an covered box that I can't see through and I have him keep it in his room where he can get to it or else I put it real high and behind stuff in my pantry.   Also when I binge I usually do it at night where no one can really see me, so therefore if he has the candy in his room at night, I know I won't go into his room and try to get any.  Wink I also use a lot of self talk to myself, like you don't really want that candy bar or chips, because you'll just feel depressed and lethargic tomorrow.  It's kind of like using a self-hypnosis on yourself, but sometimes you have to repeat it over and over again like a mantra...  Keep those snacks out of sight and you'll have a better chance at forgetting about them.  It is still hard, but with practice and time, try it and see if it works.  Anything visual works good for me, such as pics of myself at my heaviest and pics of myself and my thinnest.  So I have those up on my shelf by my TV whick helps during those tempting food commercials.

Another trick I use when I get cravings for junk or snack foods, etc.  is I suck on a sugarfree fruit lozenge or anything like that,.  The sucking on the hard candy or lozenge gets the natural juices in your mouth more active which actually helps calm the cravings and occasional hunger.  Works for me anyway.

Another idea is to try to get your family off of some of those types of snacks and on other ones.  Ya know...it never hurts to try.

I still fall off the wagon once and awhile though.  But I have lost 135 lbs and counting.  It's taken me a few years to do it, but hey at least the scale is moving in the right direction.  And I work at a fast food restaurant also and have lost over 100 lbs since I've been working there.  I also do a lot of cooking and baking for my Dad, but give a lot of it away to friends and just keep a little enough around for me and  Dad.

Good luck....Sue

Weight Loss Nutrisystem? HELP PLEASE! Mar 20 2009

OK...yes I did nutri system back in the early 80's.  Lost about 90 pounds in about 7 months, but I did gain it all back, plus some.  Everyone is right about changing your behaviors and learning how to cook healthy and eating smaller portions.  I also was on Jenny Craig, in fact, am a lifetime member of Jenny Craig.  Both of these programs had good food.  Jenny Craig's food was better.  they are both expensive about 65-70 dollars a week for food and then another 30 to 40 dollars a week on fruits, veggies and dairy.  Gained all the weight back then and more also.

I have been on weight watchers for 5 years and have lost 127 lbs so far and have went from a size 28 to a 12/14 and my behaviors have totally changed.  I have started calorie counting now instead of weight watchers point system because I had stopped losing pretty much over the past year and a half and just wanted to try something different.  Although I did join a gym about a year and a half ago and have gone down from a size 20 to a size 12/14, although I only lost about 17 pounds during that time.  But the inches really came off.  Since joining calorie counter I have lost 6.5 pounds from Feb. 1st till March 12th.  So not too bad, I guess.

The thing is slow and steady is better because it gives you time to reflect on one's life choices and change your behaviors.  I myself am 56 years old, menopausal and have had bad eating habits my whole life.  So when you consider it took me over 50 years to develop bad habits, they aren't going to change permanently overnight.  I was a fast food junkie and now I have been working at Arby's PT while I take care of my elderly, disabled father and have lost over 100 lbs since I have been working there.  So I can definitely say I am no longer tempted by fast food.Smile

Also I believe the key to any diet program is journalling everything you eat and do.  I even log my alcohol  (when I drink, which isn't often) and when I'm bad I write that down too.  I also have a calendar on my wall and when I have a good day and stick to my calorie levels I get a sticker for that day.  That way, by just a glance at the monthly calendar I can tell if I've had more good days or bad days.  I like to measure my success by the month instead of weekly because my weight will fluctuate a lot because of water weight. (Part of menopause, Yell)

So whatever you decide ...Good luck....

Weight Loss How much weight did you lose in January? Feb 05 2009

Hi everyone....I do watch the biggest loser.  Love the show and don't think it gives me unrealistic expectations.  After all those people are in the gym 5-6 hours a day aren't they?

Just joined on Feb. 1st.  Have been on Weight Watchers for the past 5 years.  I have lost 125 lbs so far, but have been stuck at the same weight for quite awhile.  So I am trying a new method..Counting calories instead of points.  I joined a gym in july 2007 and lost 17 lbs in a year, which isn't much, but I gained a lot of muscle and went down 2 pant sizes.  And another size down in the last 6 months which to me is great.  I have joint and back problems which limit the types of exercise I can do, plus I am in menopause...so losing weight is tough.  I did lose 4 lbs in Jan.  But 2 of that was from the holidays.  I am so sick of this plateau and hope I can get it going again.

this site says I burn 2000 cal a day for my size and weight (217 lbs) so I have reduced my calories to 1500 daily and my workouts are 3 times a week and burn about 500 cal at the gym.  So hopefully in 2 weeks I will see a weight loss.  Anyway,  new to the group thing, hope it will help to talk about the struggle.  I have also cut way down on my evening snacks and staying on the computer helps cuz I don't eat when I'm on the computer like I do when I just sit and watch TV.

Good luck to everyone.
