Total weight loss:1 lb.  I still can not break the 170"s hold. been in the 170"s FOREVER!!!!

Bahai...I looked at your posts.  You do seem to be stuck...I've read articles about hitting a plateau, and you seem to have done so.  Question is, what have you tried to break through the plateau?  I mean, if you tell us what approach(es) you took in February, March & April, one of your challenge mates may have a plateau shattering suggestion...without knowing what you've tried, all I can do is commiserate with you--'cause it pretty much stinks when the scale doesn't budge.

New goal, new game plan--it's great to get a fresh start!!!!! Let's burn some poundsLaughing

AKgrl, what is your new game plan? Care to share? Wink What tips do you have for the changes.

Mishief...am not nearly as experienced or "organized" a calorie counter as many who use this site, in fact, I'm really kind of a "newbie"...I think your calorie ratio intake plan sounds intriguing (know it's important to balance our intake, but that's about as far as I've taken it).  I tend to be a bit more basic in my approach...more calories burned, fewer calories consumed.  HOWEVER, despite the debate over whether time of day has anything to do with how effective a calorie burn is, I'm planning to add some of my exercise in first thing in the morning; right now I do most of it in the evenings.  I know you can find an expert who says almost anything, but I was reading a piece in the March (?) Women's Day magazine and one of the cardiologists in the article felt that morning exercise can help burn calories more efficiently all day.  That sounds "right" to me--burn a few hundred calories & get a jump start on the day!  It may all be in my head...but if I BELIEVE a.m. exercise will promote more (more efficient) calorie burn, then it will...if nothing else, my belief may subconconsciously help modify my behavior through out the day (to be more active, more resistant to temptation).  Scientifically speaking, it shouldn't matter when you burn off a calorie...it still takes 3500 burned to equal a one pound weight loss.  Practically speaking, if I'm only burning more calories because I added an a.m. exercise session, that will still help me achieve my goals!

Have to climb down off my soapbox now (does that count as exercise?)--there's a recument bike & a Universal machine at the gym that are calling out my nameLaughing

Best of luck to you, and the rest of this month's challengers!!

Ladies...('cause that's what we all were this month)...this was quite a challenge.  For those of you who made it through, good job.  As a fellow challenger, I know the road can be rough.  Anybody who is up for another challenge (and hasn't already found it), I posted a May Weight Loss Challenge here.  Hope to see lots of familiar names, but if you don't take up the May Challenge, best of luck to you in you solo endeavors.Smile

Not the rousing success I had hoped for this month; still can't account for the weight rebound--but made some progress overall.  Have "revised" my approach for next month and am looking forward to the May challengeCool

Hmmm...was at 176.8 yesterday.  Must have somehow offended the water retention gods... ...perhaps if I offer them a sacrifice of additional gym time?!?!?!

Congrats on 10 days smoke-free.  As a former smoker, I know how tough it can get.  My favorite was (and is) Dentyne Spicy Cinnamon Sugarless Gum.  Have always liked cinnamon & this gum has a very rich flavor...I feel like it holds up well, but I never just "parked" a piece in my mouth.  One of my other "saviours" as I was quitting were Altoids--the curiously strong Cinnamon and the curiously strong Peppermints are just over 3 calories per piece.  Don't know about you, but my craving for a smoke (and for food for that matter) always seemed a lot less if I had a strong, clean flavor in my mouth (like after brushing teeth).  Hence my penchant for strong flavored gum and the breath-takingly strong Altoids...I still use both to combat the occasional "I really NEED a cigarette" or "A Hershey's bar won't hurt me--I'll just do an extra hour at the gym..." impulses.  Again, kudos to you on your smoking cessation efforts!

/something other than myself helping me track my progress it might get a little easier.

does anyone have any good suggestions for excercise i won't get bored with easily?

Annakayyy...please feel free to join the "April Weight Loss Challenge--Sign Ups Always Welcome"...the "May Challenge" will be posted for sign ups early next week.  This is a one month commitment...you pick your weight loss goal and then post your progress each week.  A little accountability (&sometimes a little extra encouragement) when you need it.

As for the "good suggestions" for exercise, I try to throw something "fun" in each week, like a Zumba Dance Class or a Yoga session at my neighborhood YMCA...yes, I do "standard" exercise 5-6 days a week (rowing, weights, etc.), but I've found activities that feel like "playing" keep me motivated to move!

Good luck to you!

Greetings All!  Did a quick update today at lunch time...we have lost a few little lambs along the way (I mean challengers,  not extra pounds).   Hopefully the lost lambs will find their way back by next Sunday.  We are making good progress...if I didn't need them for my own weight loss efforts I'd be tempted to wish away the days between now & Sunday just to see the results.   Some of us have already reached our April goal--Congrats!!  Good inspiration for the rest of usKiss
