I have a thought to add here.  You need to consider the lifestyle changes that the other members have mentioned and get used to them now.  Up the exercise, eat less of the stuff you crave but still have it, etc. etc..  Don't worry about the weight if you like yourself the way you are now, I bet you look just fine.

BUT...and this is why I am posting, according to your profile one of your groups is the 20 somethings.  So that tells me you are in your 20's.  I am telling you from experience and knowledge, that as you get older, if you keep eating exactly like you are eating now, you will NOT easily maintain 140 any longer.  Hormones change, metabolism changes, lifestyles can change.   I was never skinny but I was always on the low side of average sized.  I ate like there was no tomorrow.  I can't do that now, at 49.  My 16 year old daughter eats sweets, burgers, pizza, ice cream (mixed in with the healthy dinners and breakfasts I get down her) and she is 5'4" 107.  She doesn't look skinny because of the way she carries the weight but she is thin.  I am trying now to get her to change her eating habits.  To sometimes have the chocolate bar but other times, choose the yogurt and instead of the burger, have the grilled chicken sandwich sometimes.   Not only is it better for your health, your waistline will thank you one day in the future.   Plus, heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and all sorts of other things can be kept in check by mostly making good food choices but letting yourself have the other stuff sometimes too.

That's my 2 cents worth!  :)

That is really great! WHOO HOO! It must feel so good to see 14 as the first numbers!

What a good point perkypinky about a pound of butter and feeling what it weighs! I only lost 1.5 pounds the first week and .5 the second. I was so bummed. But thinking about it that way makes me feel better!

Weight Loss Thought i'd share something that is working for me Feb 09 2009

Thanks for sharing that.  I believe cardio is overrated where weight loss is concerned.  The Body For Life plan says all you need is 20 minutes of cardio, three times a week, alternating with weight training on three days and rest on the seventh day. I have seen GREAT results with that plan. Building muscle is the key.  Now, I better get busy because after getting married 2 years ago, I have put back on 20 pounds and I was already 10 over my preferred weight and I have started eating healthy and doing Wii Fit but I have to get my weights out and dust them off or get down to the gym! Thanks for reminding me!

A bit of a guess here, but what about water retention?  I often retain water when I have done a long walk or hike like that.  That is, if I am not drinking tons of it whilst walking.  Are you drinking lots of water during the long walks?  Have you noticed your ankles a little puffy?

I have been wondering about Wii Fit too. I got mine back out 4 days ago and I can't laugh or cough because my abs are so sore! I did the jackknife challenge and I won. lol I am looking into buying a heart monitor that also tells you about calories burned and then I will have even a better idea of how good of a workout I am getting. At this stage (Just started getting fit after a while without exercise other than housework and babysitting my 3 year old nephew occasionally) I think I am getting a darn good workout. Plus, it's so fun it keeps me coming back. Now if I can just decide which heart monitor to buy!

I am surprised that so many of the replies are salty, crunchy, and savory. I was expecting it to be 90% chocolate, cakes and candy.

I too have a weakness with chips (Cheetos, Ruffles and dip, Doritos and salsa)and dip and bread and butter. I used to make bread, rolls,Texas toast etc at every meal. I have a bowl of candy I keep on a table in my family room and I never touch it. Ever. It's filled with good chocolates but if it was a bowl of Cheetos or Doritos, mine hand would be in it every time I walked past.

I have a few right now....

I will turn 50 this year and never looked my age but the extra 40 pounds is aging me and I saw a photo of myself from a month ago and I look so much older than just a year ago! The mirror didn't tell me what the photo did!

At my latest Dr. visit, two weeks ago, I was told my cholesterol is high-248- so I am trying diet and exercise to get it under control before I am put on medication.

My husband is 14 years younger than me and it hasn't bothered me for years, until the last year when I have put on more weight.

I am tired of suffering in the summer because I don't want to show my arms and summer is coming soon.

None of my clothes fit except for about 4 pair of pants (two of which are drawstring sweat pants) and about 5 shirts. They are all old and worn looking and I refuse to buy anything in a larger size! I have plenty of size 8 in my closet that look so cute!

On the note of not having clothes, I am starting to become a bit of a recluse because I hate getting dressed. I want my old life back!
