START June 25-27: 121 lbs
Unfortunately, no job means no free gym means no scale. I finally got the scale I ordered in the mail, so can weight myself and get back on here! Here's the weird thing - I'm two pounds lighter than I was at last weigh-in (July 4th), but I FEEL heavier. I went shopping on 4th of July weekend as all of my work clothes don't fit anymore and I'll be starting a new job in Sept (that was my pre-emptive reward for losing weight!). I left feeling SO GOOD about the way I looked. But over the last few weeks I've let my exercise routine fall to half of what it should be (no gym, no work routine), haven't been very good about logging the calories, and have developed a weird sweet tooth (I generally dislike sweet things - maybe it's the extreme stress I've been under lately?) I haven't fallen completely off the wagon, but I've been hanging over the edge and figured I'd probably gained 2lbs or so. Instead I'm 2 lbs lighter?? Maybe it's muscle loss accounting for 2 lb loss? How much muscle weight really gets added or lost in the course of a few weeks? Hmmm.... |

Two victories to share in the same week! I used to HATE running, but I'm loving the results of now being a regular jogger and getting into shape... Went 4th of July shopping - and I'm a consistent size small! I had to keep reminding myself to move down a notch when looking at the clothes racks. And even better than the weight loss was my doctor's appointment this morning. The nurse asked if I was an athlete after taking my blood pressure (102/64) and ambient pulse (57). yeay!

Hi all Happy 4th!
Measurements (6/4): Bust 36" Chest below bust 30" Waist 31" Hips 37" Calf 13.25" Wrist 14.2"
3 Things I like about myself: 1) I don't give up easily, 2) the older I get the better I am at forgiving myself, and 3) the better I get at forgiving myself, the better I get at forgiving others.

I'm going to Mozambique. There are gyms, but I have no reason to believe that I'll be better at consistently using a gym there than I am here. It just seems to take so much time out of your day to drive over to a gym to work out. There are also apparently places in town that are fine to jog in. I've never succeeded at holding on to a workout routine that requires me to go out of my way though (as in, driving to a gym, or driving somewhere where I can jog). I figure if I can make a plan for a good home workout, then it will be harder to make excuses. If the gym or the outdoors jogging work out - great! But if not - I'll have a home backup! Thanks for the workout and DVD tips. |

I've not posted before today, but have already bounced back up a steady 3 lbs after getting SO CLOSE to my goal weight. So very depressing! So count me in - I could obviously use some extra motivation!

A year ago I set a goal to run 1.5 miles in 15 minutes. Big for me - I HATED to run. I live 3 miles from my job, and there's a gym at work where I can shower, so I started jogging to work instead of driving. At first, it was a lot of walking and panting in between SLOW jogging. Took me around 55 minutes at the beginning. Eventually I got to where I could run the whole way, and it has become my normal routine. I jog to music, and have steadily replaced old songs with newer, faster paced ones. Then recently a friend asked me how long it took me to run to work, and I didn't really know. So I timed myself - 31 minutes. Wait... 31 minutes?!? For 3 miles?? So I went to the gym to use the treadmill for the first time in a year, in order to really know how far I was going and how fast. 1.5 miles in 13:10! Now I'm trying to decide what upper-body-strength goals to set... (I've seriously neglected that!) |
