That's too funny! Thankfully, in NC, the DMV doesn't list a person's weight on their license. I've lost almost 50 pounds since I last renewed mine and I've also cut a completely different cut and color so the last time I went out with my friends, I got accussed of trying to pass a fake ID . It was awesome. lol. |

I used to hate going to concerts or games because I was too big for the seats. I could squeeze in but it was always uncomfortable and my pudge would poke over the edges. Well, last week, I went to a baseball game and my hips/thighs didn't even touch the arms of the stadium seat! (And my team won to make it an even better moment!) |

CW: 197.1 Hey guys... Sorry that I'm late posting this week. I was out of town yesterday with no internet. (I felt like I was going to die.) But great work everybody and don't lose hope at those little plateaus... we can do this! :o) |

I have a treadmill at home that I do 30 minutes a day on, usually 3-4 times a week for my cardio. I run it on the weight loss program that does the HIIT. It kicks my *** but I can definitely see/feel the results. I also got a new routine out of Prevention magazine that I want to try that goes between the cardio and a muscle toning program. It's supposed to really work and slim the midsection which is where I need it the most. |

Original Post by coreyander: Thanks and congrats to you too! I definitely celebrated today. My BF and I went to a baseball game and I had foot long Sabretts hot dog and cotton candy at the ball park. Yum! It was so worth it. :o) |

I have 2 cheat meals a week. I use them for special occasions (birthday parties, anniversaries, sporting events, going out with the girls, etc...). Some weeks I use both, some I don't use either. It just helps me maintain that sense of normalcy when I'm out with people. I call it socialized eating. lol. |

More and more, I realize it's the littlest things that make me happy with my weight loss. For example, I painted my own toenails today. I could actually put my foot up on the chair with me! |

Original Post by mad4moon: Amen! I get the same thing at work all the time. I love the reaction I get when coworkers ask for my advice and I tell them about my changed eating and exercise habits. They seem so disappointed. You can actually see that glimmer of hope fade when they realize it's been hard work and not the result of some fad diet or cuckoo detox/cleanse program. |

Congrats ladies!
This is way too much information but I always weigh more during my cycle which was last week so I think it's mostly a water weight difference, not actual fat loss. I'll still take it though, lol.

I don't have anything really weird I eat now but I do think my mom was secretly trying to kill me as a child. Some of the really weird things she would feed me were:
I'm more of a mustard person these days... thankfully for my cholesterol's sake. But it's no wonder I was a fat child. Thanks mom! |

Original Post by agstl: Hey kcnae... I agree with agstl. After you get the whole BM issue cleared up, if you're still struggling to lose weight while putting that much effort into it, there may be an underlying issue. I had the same problem and found out I had hypothyroidism. Once I got diagnosed and put on my maintenance meds, I've dropped over 30 pounds in about 4 months. It's kind of scary how fast it's coming off but knowing why it was so hard for me to do anything about my weight is a big stress reliever.

Hypothyroidism will definitely put the pounds on. I was diagnosed in November of last year after gaining over 50 pounds in a 2 year period. I've been on my medication for 4 months and the pounds are just melting off. (I've lost 36 pounds since December!) So don't lose hope if that's what it turns out to be. It's treatable and the Levothyroxin has made a huge difference in how I feel. I have so much energy now... it's wonderful. As far as dealing with being "fat"... I don't know what you tell you guys because neither of you are fat to me. I've been overweight most of my life and I can't fathom 140 pounds as being "fat". Seriously, that's what I weighed in middle school and it's 10 pounds less than my goal weight. lol. I know it's all a matter of perspective and what you're used to but I don't think anyone passing either of you on the street would think Hey! Look at that fat lady! -- I actually had a little kid at Macy's stop in front of me and ask me why I was soooo fat. Talk about a kick in the spirit! But anyways, I hope you both get to where you want be just don't be to hard on yourselves while you're on the road there. Good luck and the best of health!! :o) |

| Foods | Any foods out there that you are still shocked about how high in calories they are? | Mar 28 2009 03:05 (UTC) |

Hot chocolate from McDonald's McCafe. It has 390 calories and it's made with non-fat milk. I can make homemade hot chocolate with whole milk, regular sugar, and whipped cream for less that 200 calories a mug. I can't figure it out. And for anybody who likes the shock factor of what's in restaurant food, you should check out a book called CalorieKing, Fat and Carbohydrate Counter. I have added at least 10 restaurants to my list of "no no's".

| Weight Loss | How do you eat? | Mar 25 2009 03:10 (UTC) |

I always start my day off with chocolate Carnation Instant Breakfast mixed with skim milk for breakfast. It's quick, easy and I can take it with me on the way to work. I usually don't eat until lunch time but if I feel hungry, I'll eat a piece of fruit or a pack of high fiber oatmeal which I keep stocked in my desk drawer. At lunch, I try to keep it balanced. I usually eat a sandwich on whole grain bread. I'm a big fan of turkey and cheese or a scrambled egg (I use Egg Beaters) Then I always pile a ton of veggies on it (lettuce, tomato, cucumbers). I also try to eat another veggie on the side... broccoli, carrots, green peppers, what ever is on hand. Then for dinner, I plan out healthy meals and make sure that I cover the basic food groups. The biggest misconception I've overcome with my weight loss is that healthy doesn't mean "rice cakes and hippy food". I've learned a lot of healthy recipes that are just as satisfying, if not more, than what I used to cook. I even have a great one for a steak and french fry dinner that's just 300 calories. For me, watching my portion control, balancing my food groups, and finding nutrient-rich substitutions for my old vices has been the key to my success. I've eliminated some things in my diet completely (soda pop and potato chips for example). I know a lot of people can't do that but I fought off the addiction and I cannot begin to tell you how much better I feel since I quit. I also leave room for "social eating" and have two meals a week where I can eat whatever. I usually save those for when I'm going out with friends or visiting family. But anyway, that is what works for me. :o) |

Look at you guys! Congrats to all of you on all your successes. Seeing the transformations definitely motivates people like me who are in the first stretch of the weight loss journey so thanks for sharing! I found some Thanksgiving/Christmas pictures from 2007 when I was at my peak weight of 238. (It was probably more than that but I avoided scales like the plague.) But I can't believe how huge a difference 30 pounds makes! I uploaded the pics as a reminder to myself that I don't want to end up there again and to keep me motivated to keep going strong.

Don't you just love those moments? I had one this afternoon actually! Last spring, I had bought a really cute pair of plaid Bermuda shorts without trying them on at the store. When I got home, I couldn't get the fly anywhere close to buttoning, much less zipping up, even while doing that girl thing where you lay down flat on the bed. Well, they found a home in the bottom of my closet until today. I was cleaning it out and sorting my "big girl" clothes into piles of what fits and what has to go. I found the shorts and decided to see if I was close to being able to wear them. I slipped them on... buttoned and zipped them with no problems. They we're actually hanging on my hips. I could not believe it. I just knew they would still be too tight but nope... they're too loose! I'm hoping that they'll shrink when I wash them and I can wear them THIS spring. :o) So congrats on the success girl! I hope you have many more "Yes!" moments. |
