That is so funny, because I have started doing this as well a couple weeks ago. I love the Arnold's sandwich thins, and I just put pasta sauce on top, some mozzarella cheese, and throw it in the microwave for about 30 seconds. yummm :) |

My doctor said I was 5'7.5" last October but my sister measured me once after that and said I was 5'6". I guess the doctor should be trusted more though? lol :P Oh wow, how scary! Have you succeeded in getting it back? |

By the way - you all agreed I need to gain weight just to be healthy. What would be a practical weight to be at? :/ |

I am not sure. I just go to one doctor that my mom takes me to lol. Maybe she doesn't know much about my problem. I have mentioned it to my mom several times, but I am going to specifically ask her to call the doctor and see what she thinks. I don't want to unintentionally harm myself! I don't think we can really afford more appointments, but perhaps the doctor can just offer some advice. |

I do understand I should go to my doctor. It's just I have been to my doctor several times in the past year & she has never helped me out much. I got blood tests done and stuff and everything was normal. The only reason I thought to ask on here was because no one in real life seems concerned except me. Thanks for the advice about the BMI and how every situation is unique. I am going to try to figure mine out. Thanks again <3 |

Thanks for the concern guys! I have never been to an OBGYN ... so I could ask my mom to schedule something... I mean my normal doctor and my mom have not seem concerned (although my doctor didn't really say much when I was at 94 lbs... which is kinda weird...). I haven't ever really had an eating disorder where I deliberately starved myself to lose weight & I never have urges to restrict or anything - so no worries there! =) The reason for being underweight was unintentional. |

Thanks for the advice. I will try to gain some weight... it's just hard because I don't look underweight anymore! Most of my pants don't even fit. =( & I don't want to just keep gaining and gaining and have my period not come back. |

Thanks guys, it makes me feel better and more confident with the support. :) I never really starved myself either (just kinda unknowingly lost the weight by running and not eating back the calories)... so when I see all these people recovering from ED, it makes me feel like I don't really need to gain as much. I feel like I am only telling myself to gain so I can eat more lol! Anyways, I truly just want to be healthy. That's all I ever wanted =) |

Awe, okay. I mean, I don't have a problem gaining weight (I love eating, and can easily get the calories in). It was easy for me to cope when I was even more underweight, because I KNEW I needed to gain. As I get heavier, and look more at a normal weight, I grow unsure that I need to gain more, or that I should just try to get some muscle weight. However, I do want my period back, so I will do what needs to be done. Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it. =] |

110-111lbs, 5'7.5"? something like that. I don't know what's the right weight for me. My mom, who wanted me to gain in the first place, said I was okay now & that my period would come eventually. But I am not sure if she's right Thanks for the help. :) I was worried it might be unrelated to my weight because it wasn't coming before I lost some weight.. :/ |

Thank you lafoutloud! It's great to hear from someone my age. I love tilapia, salmon, and mahi mahi - at least, the rare times I have had it. :-) I would enjoy making them more for myself. And your way of making such a nice dinner for yourself that is healthy gives me hope for myself. Perhaps my days of endless sandwiches are over!! (For example, when my family went to Burger King tonight haha). I am going to try to take the advice of you guys... I am going to go to the store and buy fruits & veggies, and I am determined to try a sweet potato... |

I've noticed it the most in my stomach too... it's always a little more rounder than it used to be haha. (perhaps part of it is that I am always full... but it's still bigger.) But yeah, definitely my stomach the most! |

I have never had a peanut butter & banana sandwich, but now I definitely want to try one! :) My weight gain is going well... I am at 111 pounds (up from 94). It's kinda hard mentally, even though I want to gain weight, feeling my clothes get tighter haha! I am not sure how high weight wise I need to go, but I really want my period. x3 |

Yep. :) It's funny that I became more unhealthy by trying to become healthier. Odd. My metabolism has always been high too - I've always eaten SO much throughout the years, with little activity, and been a fine weight. Yum chocolate shake. :] I want one! |

I just wanted to address the dinner issue you're having, because I have had it myself. I was always worried about the calorie count of my dinner, as my parents usually prepare it, and I've no idea what the count would be. However, I got some good advice to just set aside a normal amount of calories for the dinner, and eat lots during dinner, so it will definitely reach this amount. :] Sure, it's not exact, but it works! |

Hi! Just wanted to say, I have similar stats to you. (I am 17 though and 5'7.5" ish). I have been working on gaining too. I actually understand what you mean by not really having an eating disorder though. I never restricted myself per se, just became more active and attempted to eat healthier foods. With my increased activity and lower caloric intake, I lost weight. Even when I stopped running & biking and stuff, I still seemed to lose weight! I think part of it was also insecurity with how I looked though. I also tried to eat only as much as everyone else did. I am also gaining to get my period back. I hope it comes back soon! Well, just wanted to share how similar we seem to be, and wish you luck. C: |

Haha I think I totally understand what you mean. My friends who are at completely healthy weights eat so little! My one friend never finishes anything, and sometimes she seems to go so long without food. Most people I know don't even eat breakfast, and some not even snacks. It shocks me! Even when I was not needing to gain, I could never eat so little. :X Oh well, no need adapt myself to their eating habits. :] |

Hey lucky. :) Part of the reason I lost weight was changing my eating habits to be healthier as well! Good luck on your goal to gain. When I originally started gaining, my mom would let me do no cardio because it would be too hard for me to gain weight. If I start doing it again, at least I know how to adjust my caloric intake accordingly. :) Strength training is good too, I have been trying to incorporate that in. I do some at home stuff, like situps, but actually hurt my neck doing them improperly lol! woops. The grilled peanut butter and jelly sandwich sounds good. <3 I love PB&J toast! Probably similar? |

Do you weigh yourself at the same time each time, and only once a week? :) I usually weigh myself in the morning. At least then, if you do it at the same time, you can see if you're gaining. 'Cause weight can fluctuate up & down like 5 pounds during the day because of many different factors, like what's in your stomach, and water retention & stuff! I also was told when you first start gaining, weight can fluctuate because of water retention and such - especially during the first two weeks! Most people see a huge weight gain, but it ends up evening out. It's good you're so determined, that will definitely help!! I shoot for at least 2500 calories a day. Sometimes I go over though, depending on what my family makes for dinner, or if I go hang out with my friends or something & we eat stuff. :] You have a fast metabolism and you run, so you'll definitely need more !! I would just make sure any running you do, try to make sure you eat back at least as much as you burned. Then your NET total should be 2500+ :) you seem to totally understand that though! & yeah, I would think your total calorie consumption would be 3000+! heh. |

I know! I understand that. I just didn't really pay attention to my weight and it just dropped. I was surprised when I walked into the doctor's, and she was like "Do you even weigh 100 pounds?" Even when I was at like 94 lbs, my doctor didn't seem to concerned, which was kind of weird. My mom and others were though, and I knew I should be too. My scale broke kinda - it's weird, there is some giant black line covering the first couple numbers - but I am able to see the last digit. Based on that, I think I'm at about 105-107? I am not sure how high my goal weight is... my mom originally told me 115, but I really want to make sure I get my period back and everything. I've only had it once in my life. :( (I started REALLY late 'cause of genetics)

I know what you mean! This forum has helped me so much, but I do sometimes feel like I am one of the only ones not recovering from an ED. My situation is kind of similar to yours. I started XC last summer. I ended up moving to a different school, so I did not end up being on the team, but I was running throughout the summer. I did not increase my food intake and unintentionally lost weight... I did not realise I needed to eat so much more. Anyways, I was down to 94lbs and 5'7.5". Even though I had stopped running, the weight did not reappear.. I even lost more! So I knew I needed to gain weight. Plus I need my period! I found this site about 2 months ago, and that's when I actually have started having success with gaining. I've also always had a fast metabolism, heh. I never had a problem with being overweight even though I always ate so much! I also try to eat as healthy as I can, while still enjoying treats. :] |

I want to make sure I don't hurt my body so early in my life and create problems for myself in the future. I want to feel confident in the way I look and not feel too skinny. I want to get my period so I can make sure that in the future I have the ability to have children. :) I just want to be as healthy as possible! |

I know what you mean rebel! I never like to eat tons of calories in the beginning of the day because I always like to eat at home at night.. I am always saving my calories. This causes me to need to eat a lot to make the req though which isn't necessary lol. I should get myself to eat higher cals earlier. :X |

I must say you inspired me to try them. :) I saw you comment on how good they were once, and saw them at my grocery store. Since they were also cheaper (seen them for .88$ a bar) I tried it... I have liked all so far! I have tried chocolate cup cookie dough, chocolate, and peanut butter. |
