I'm glad you brought this topic up because I also am a big LSU fan and rarely miss a home game. I agree with the posters above about starting the day right with a healthy meal, and a morning workout. For game days I also use a big LSU mug, but I still only use one shot of alcohol and fill it the rest of the way up with diet tonic/diet coke. That way you still feel like you are socially drinking, but you save calories. Also, I'm sure you have friends with tailgates all over campus, so make it a point to walk and see friends and you'll probably walk a few miles without realizing it. I know I do on game days. For me the food is the hardest part, there is just something about a big plate of pastalaya that is HARD to turn down. Good Luck , and GEAUX TIGERS!!

Congrats afined. Laughing Keep up the good work!

I'm at 142. UGH!! I need some help ladies. I know that I want to lose more weight, but I keep rationalizing eating too much food by telling myself that I will simply do an extra workout. This would be GREAT if I were simply trying to maintain because I do end up working harder to make up the difference, but I have to get out of maintenance mindset and back into weightloss mindset. I think it's some mental hurdle that I need to overcome. Any suggestions?

I don't know if you all have closed the group, but if not I would love to join. I'm a bit taller than most in the group, I'm 5'6" and 141lbs. I started in March at close to 170 with an ultimate goal of 125. I'm not sure if that's my final goal, that was just what my weight was when I was in "the greatest shape of my life" I lift weights 3 times a week, and walk/jog 4 times a week, and sometimes I play tennis.

Hi Everyone!!

I'm feeling pretty good today. I went home at lunch and did my treadmill time. It took me 22 minutes to do 2 miles. I did one minute intervals of walking and running (8mph). To some that's probably a jog, but it was definitely running to me. Laughing I'm going to mow the grass when I get home from work and then I'm going to have a steak with salad and veggies for dinner. YUM!! I hope everyone else is doing well today, keep up the good work.

I'v lost almost 30 lbs this year, and everyone is always telling me how great I look, but I have only gone down one pant size. I can still wear jeans that I was wearing at my largest. I've noticed that my hips and thighs are the last place the fat wants to let go of. I was discouraged at first, but now I'm still working hard, and slowly but surely the weight is coming off. Just keep at it and you'll get down where you want to be. btw. I'm 5'6" 141lb and a size 10 pant. I'd love to get down to a size 4, but I don't think my hips will cooperate. Smile

 I ate maintenance several days last week, and then ate horrible on the weekend (and had lots of alcohol) but I exercised through it all. My weight was up to 146 on Monday morning. I started a new routine first thing Monday morning ( 1200-1400 cals a day) and running (walk/run) 2 miles plus 20 minutes of some resistance exercise. I was walking at least 3 miles a day before but I think I need to get tmy heart rate up so I run as long as I can and then walk til I can do it all again. It seems to be working. 

I'm down to 141.5 this morning. I think my body just needed a little break and then to get back on track.

We'll see on Monday if I continue to lose. I thought maybe if you took a little break and then hit it hard again you also might see a loss. Laughing

Jodi - I also went overboard this weekend with pasta, but I couldn't resist the bread and went for that as well. Surprisingly I didn't cap the whole meal off with a huge piece of cheesecake. I was at The Cheesecake Factory. My stomach was upset the rest of the day. I guess it was all that rich sauce on the pasta.

On a positive note during my walk/jog (jog as far as I can, walk to catch a breath, jog as far as I can again) last night I managed to finish up by jogging for 7 minutes. Normally I have to start walking again after about 5. I think if I really pushed it, I could jog for a mile. Maybe that will be my new goal, to be able to jog a mile in 10 minutes.

I decided to eat maintenance the last couple of days. I've still been working out, but I just wanted to give my body a little break. I've been REALLY tired lately and so I am also starting to take a multi-vitamin again. I should be doing that anyway, I just forget. When I started this whole weight-loss program I had a number in mind (125lb) but I have decided now that I'm going to be happy with whatever number I end up with as long as 2 things happen. (1) I get rid of this tummy I just can't seem to lose. (2) I get rid of the fat on my hips and thighs. I've started a weight-lifting program and my arms are ROCKIN, but my bottom area has yet to catch up. I have muscle definition it's just hidden under the extra layer. Foot in mouth So, once I get rid of the tummy and the thighs I'll be a happy camper. Thank goodness I have boobs or I would be a serious pear. I'm an american size 10 pant with a 27.5" waist and 34DD bra size. I definitely like my curves, I just wish they looked firmer in a swimsuit. I do feel like I'm getting close though. Smile

amy - I've noticed that for weeks in which I had cheat days ( maybe ate 1800-2000 calories) and I ate 1200-1400 the other days of the week that I had big losses on the scale. That's one of the reasons that I decided to give myself a few days of maintenance calories. I'm going to hit it hard with workouts and watch my cals this weekend though. We'll see how I do on Monday. Maybe I need to adjust my exercise and calories to lose 1 pound a week for now.

I'm going to start with my end weight from Aug 3. That was 142. Once you get down closer to your goal it sure does seem harder to lose. I need you all to keep me motivated, and I will do the same for you. Smile

Ugh! Lost 3 pounds this month. Still trending in the right direction, just not as fast as I wish. Congrats to everyone who lost last month!

I hope you will post back when you get a diagnosis on your knee. I am curious as to what it is. I did want to add that in my experience knee issues should be delt with expediently by a professional. I tore my ACL in Nov. of 95 and had surgery in Jan 96 less than 2 months later. (This was the soonest I could be scheduled). The doctor had to remove some cartilage, and told me that if I had been scheduled sooner he could have minimized the damage. Not to the ACL mind you, but the cartilage. Now when I have an issue with my knee I go immediately to an (experienced, highly recommended) orthopedist ASAP. Your knee will feel like it "slips" out of joint (mostly on side to side motions) with a torn ACL also, but I think you would know if you tore something. Mine happened with a loud popping noise soon followed by buckets of tears. I'm a bit of a baby. Sorry for the novel, but I feel really strongly about this topic I guess. Best of luck to you, and let me know how it turns out.

If I really work my tail off I might still be able to get into the 130's by August, well at least by August 3rd. I could still reach my original goal for the month. Good luck in the final week!Laughing

 I've noticed that a few of us who did so well in the June challenge seem to be struggling through this one. I noticed that my eating habits were changing back for the worse and my exercise was becoming more sporadic. I'm not sure if my body was burned out and needed a break or if all the compliments about my weight loss were going to my head. Embarassed

I had to sit back and really take note of what was going on with me. I just keep trying to remember that as much as I want to be thin RIGHT NOW (and I make too many crazy plans to try and satisfy that), I want to have the healthy habits more. So if it means that the weight comes off slowly, so be it. UGH!! I hate saying that.

I just wanted to say to everyone, lets make sure not to forget that ultimately we want to be strong and healthy, not just thin.

If you fall off the wagon (like I have done this whole dang month) just pull yourself together and jump back on. This is for life.Smile

Oh yeah, and CONGRATS to everyone who is doing well this month!! I wish it were me!!

Good Morning Everone and Happy Friday!!!

I played tennis this morning and that always puts me in a good mood. My mom and I decided we're going to play a few mornings a week. Laughing I finally feel like I'm adopting a healthier lifestyle. YEA! I think I'm going to see if she wants to play golf next week, after work. Fitness, here I come.

I don't have children, but I was floored when my sister (who is the tough as nails sibling) called me crying about having to drop her little one off at day care for the first time. It must be heart wrenching for her to have been so upset. It seems like your last week was similar to mine in diet and exercise. The good thing is, you worked out again and your back on track. Dust yourself off and keep on like it never happened, or maybe try to get in an extra exercise session or two this week. You'll feel that much better about yourself for having done it. Don't give up, keep up the good work!!

Frown Up 1 lb. since friday to 146. I need to get my **** together. Sorry for the profanity, I'm just really frustrated with myself. I know I didn't eat 3500 calories over what I needed in the past 3 days so I know this will come back off, but I need to get my act together. I've only worked out one day in the last week and half. I'm going to the grocery after work (haven't been in 3 weeks) to get good food, and I WILL WORK OUT tonight!!!!

So, I lost 7 pounds overall. I'm definitely all for the July challenge. My goal will be not to necessarily lose 10 pounds (although I will shoot for that) but to get into the 130's. I would be REALLY happy with that. Thank so much jodi, I was bouncing around in the 150s until this challenge, and you got me back on track to losing weight.

Vie - I think jumping right back into your old routine will get you back on track, and the weight will probably drop right off. I know when I fly, or drive long distances my body hold fluids. You might be surprised by a big drop next weigh-in.

Afined - I would recommend the same thing as jodi, up the cals a little and vary your workouts. This usually works.

Twinsand2 - Congrats on avoiding the fries. I've had them for lunch every day this week. Horrible I know. I've kept my calories within range though, and worked out everyday. For some reason when lunch rolls around all I want is McDonalds. I order off the kids menu and walk an extra 15 minutes and call it even. I know it's not a healthy choice, but for some reason I am really craving it.

Also, I have started back weight lifting. I'm still eating at a deficit, so I'm probably not gaining any muscle, but I'm hoping not to get any flabbier. I quit lifting when I started this June challenge, and I've allready noticed that my legs are losing tone. NOT GOOD. We'll see if this changes my weight loss any, but I just couldn't live with jiggle anymore.Smile

I'm up .5 pounds this week. Frown I'm definitely not surprised as I only worked out 1 day last week, and ate everything I wanted to over the weekend. I'm back on track this week though. I hope everyone else did better last week. Good luck!!
