Original Post by illingal: 1.5 lbs for someone that weighs 144 lbs. is NOT slow at all! That's the MAXIMUM you should do so awesome job! It's not healthy to lose more than 10% of your body weight per week, so for you that would be aroudn 1.4 lbs. So keep up what you're doing because anything more will be unhealthy. I weigh a little less than you and it's hard for me to have more than a 0.5 lb weight loss per week. |

Amayou - nice to see you back! So far I've been having a bad week - the husband decided he wanted steaks and wine for dinner last night and then two nights ago we went out for Mexican and margaritas! Hopefully if I stay good the rest of the week it won't make too much of a difference on Thursday. I'm finally back into the exercise groove after taking a hiatus while on vacation (and right before vacation... and right after vacation....). My core is still sore from Saturday's pilates class. Sending positive weight loss vibes to everyone! Good luck! |

Name: Amy I can't believe it! This is the most weight I've ever lost in a month and it's the first month I've actually reached my goal! I am now less than 1 lb. heavier than what my weight was before my wedding. Two more months and I should be able to meet my first goal of 135 lbs! |

Name: Amy Okay so I'm back from my honeymoon! I only gained about 3 lbs. which is AWESOME considering I had free food and alcohol for a week straight! So now I am back to getting slim. My long-term goal is to get down to 125 before July 20, 2010 which is when I am in my brother's wedding (I felt like I looked good for MY wedding so now I want to look GREAT for his!). Slowly but surely, I'm on my way! I've lost almost 15 lbs. since Feb. by making a conscious effort to eat a little less, make healthier choices, and exercise more. |

Name: Amy YAY! That's 1/2 lb. more than I lost last month so I'm excited! I finally had a big (for me) loss this week. I may not be at my goal weight yet but I am wearing a dress that I fit into my senior year of high school! Even though I was another 15 lbs. lighter then... hmm.. I will not be doing the September challenge because I am getting married and will be in Jamaica for a week at an all-inclusive resort which means I will be eating A LOT of free food and drinking A LOT of free alcohol!! Well, maybe I'll join mid-way through Sept. after I get back. |

I took an entire week off of working out and I guess my body appreciated the break. I will up my calories back up now and get back to my workout routine. I was so excited to see that 140 on the scale! I'm almost in the 130's again! Whoo-hoo! afined - you are doing awesome girl! Keep it up! |

Saw - I just decreased my calories as well and I think my metabolism is still adjusting because I haven't seen a decrease in weight yet. I was eating 1600-1800 calories a day but I think that after losing 13 lbs., that was too much and is the reason why I hit a plateau for awhile. So I've decreased it to 1400, although it really wasn't intentionally. I just haven't been that hungry this week. I did eat more on the days I worked out though. Hopefully once my metabolism catches up I will shed a few lbs. When I first started counting my calories in Feb, I physically COULD NOT eat less than 1500 calories without feeling sick and starving. |

Perhaps the only real exception is alcohol which CANNOT be converted to fat. Thus someone on skid row with NO other food could consume 4,000 calories of alcohol and continually lose weight. This approach is NOT recommended just anecdotal. Eat real food in addition to alcohol and the body will use the alcohol to keep up the body temperature and a few other functions and turn most of the the excess REAL FOOD into fat. Zip - are you giving me permission to drink alcohol every day? |

Looking back over the past week, I've been eating around 1400 calories per day (one day was 1600 though and one day was 1700). I was eating between 1600-1800 before that. My BMR is around 2100 according to CC. So should I keep eating less and wait for my metabolism to adjust or should I eat more to increase my metabolism? In Feb I set my goal at 1600 because I had quite awhile to try to lose 20 lbs., but I've been losing weight incredibly slowly (like 1.5 lbs. per month) so I had planned on decreasing it to 1500, but then I honestly just have not been hungry so that's why it's been closer to 1400. ETA: According to the woman's nutrition link, I need 1770 calories to maintain my current weight. I work out for an hour 3-4 days/week. |

Name: Amy I messed up this week somehow. I wonder if I'm not calculating my portion sizes correctly. I didn't have much of an appetite this week though, so I wonder if my problem is just that I didn't eat enough. I don't know; it's frustrating but I can't give up when I am so close to my goal and so close to my wedding. If I could at least get under 140 I would be ecstatic! |

afined: YAY! Congratulations!! Read this in another post: "When you juice, you are removing all the pulp and all the fiber, which helps to slow absorption and make you feel fuller longer. Instead all you get is the sugar and the nutrients. As far as your blood sugar spiking and crashing is concerned there is no difference to your body between drinking a glass of juice and a can of coke. They both contain 100% of their calories from sugar and nothing else. And natural sugar is no different than table sugar or any other sugar so far as your blood glucose levels are concerned. Mischief: That is good to know - well, sad actually, since I usually have apple/orange/ or cranberry juice every morning. I guess I need to go buy some apples and bananas to eat instead. |
