I'm the same height, and around the same weight as you. You need to get up to 2500 minimum and keep this steady, no more restricting, ideally NO exercise whatsoever other than light yoga etc. No cardio. Please try and get professional help, go to a doctor. I'd hate to see something bad happen to you, you're extremely underweight :( |

All the advice given sounds really good, but I just thought I should add eating a protein bar made me really sick once and I've never touched them again...But that could just be me. |

with regards to the hair loss, I can totally relate. Post-ED, my once lovely, long hair was falling out horribly everytime it was washed/brushed and it made me so sad. Especially as it was fine during my most restrictive stages. But the condition of your hair apparently reflects your body's condition around three months previous. However the best thing you can do to repair and stop the hair loss is to eat a really good balanced diet high in proteins and good fats - eggs, nuts etc. And drink plenty of water. Try using a nourishing, natural shampoo that is not too harsh and don't wash your hiar all that often. Also, my hairdresser recommended taking zinc tablets, and brewer's yeast tablets which seems to have helped. Since eating properly again and trying to recover, my hair is a whole lot thicker again where it is growing through, compared to the thin straggly ends which grew in ED times. It is possible to get nice hair again :) |

| Health & Support | so whats with these "pro anamia" sites? | Jun 07 2009 12:17 (UTC) |

They are evil. I don't even think the creators had such evil intentions in mind when they made them, because they themselves are sick...But these sites can heavily influence especially younger girls, and I'm sure it has caused so many new cases of AN/Bulimia. They should be banned, before it becomes too late for some girls. |

Just so you know, don't worry about not washing your hair often. It's actually good for it - I experienced post-ED hairloss, (still am!) and the natural oils your hair produces actually help your scalp. So leaving them on your head for a bit longer than normal by not washing is actually good for your hair !

| Weight Gain | Eating "junk" food to aid in weight gain/upping calories? | May 06 2009 20:39 (UTC) |

hey look, at the end of the day, you want to return to normal right? you want to be healthy again? cookies are normal. OK, they might not be the most nutritious staple of a diet, weight gainer or not. But hell, ther's absolutely NOTHING wrong with having junk food to help meet a calorie goal, especially if you;re like me and find it difficult getting 2500 out of purely healthy food...I mean yes you can have the bagel or whatever, but in certain (social) situations, or in general, it is pretty eating disordered to refuse yourself what you want (e.g. the cookie) in order to have a healthier alternative...Indulge! Your body needs it!

| Health & Support | Do/did you have an "exciting recovery"?!!! | Mar 25 2009 16:17 (UTC) |

For the first few months of recovery, I didn't properly enjoy challenging "fear foods" or eating food I hadn't in ages but used to love, simply because I still felt guilty. But now, most of hte time I can be like "f*** it, I dont have to worry, there's no upper limit in recoery, and I can eat what the hell I like, enjoy it and not have to worry!" It's ace =] |
