I also get these, but not 4 times a day. I'm type 1 diabetic and was worried it meant my circulation was poor, but when I asked my endocrinologist she said everyone gets them. I get them when I move my foot in a funny way after running. I don't think theres anything seriously wrong with us, I just think it's like pulling a muscle in your leg- except more awkward and painful lol. |

brookevt: at 5'5" and 112 lbs you're at a BMI of 18.6 .. which is already underweight. If you were to lose 6 lbs that would put you at a very low BMI of 17.6 . I think you need to reassess your goal and what is considered healthy... |

I just wanted to say this thread is a great idea! At the moment, I'm trying to gain some weight and had no idea what foods to eat to get up to 2500, so Chrissy your posts especially are helping me out as I've realized I'm not eating nearly enough. Thanks for starting this thread, and please keep posting your menus! :) |

I refuse to eat bananas that are under-ripe. They taste like plants and are too firm! I love when they are ripe- or better yet- over ripe! So sweet and flavorful :) Yum yum |

Well I grew up on cow's milk and I've always liked it. When I first tried soymilk it kind of made me gag- I guess because of the different thickness/texture. It just didn't go down well lol. But I think that if I were to keep trying it I would eventually like it. I'm definitely not against soymilk. |

Wow, thanks for the info Lala, it was incredibly helpful. I haven't been weighed since January, but tomorrow I go to the diabetic clinic and they do my weight/height so I'm hoping I've gained at least a few pounds since then. If I use the weight I was in January, my BMI is 18.6, which I realize isn't ideal so I've been eating more and counting less. I'll definitely cut back on the cardio as well, which shouldn't be a problem because it exhausts me. Besides, I'd rather work on toning my body. Again, thanks for the info! |

Yum yum, it's like bbqing in your kitchen |

I cook my oats (quick-cooking oats) at night and stick 'em in the fridge. In the morning they are kinda solidified so I put them in the microwave for 40sec, stab it/stir it put it back in for 40sec add a splash of milk and stir some more and it has a perfect texture, so yes! |

*EDIT*: Just got weighed yesterday at 104.6 lbs. Not expecting that. At. All. New goal is to get back up to a healthy weight, not exactly sure what number that will be. |

When I switched from instant oatmeal (maple and brown sugar) to quick-cooking oats I gagged every time I ate them. Now I actually look forward to breakfast, and find that I like the taste- it took maybe a month or so for my taste buds to adjust, but I'm not sure if it's like that for everyone. |

That is exactly what I do when I go to the gym. I don't get off the treadmill until I've burned 180 calories. Once the streets are less slushy I think I'll just go jogging outside for exercise. I refuse to stop exercising altogether, because everyone needs at least 60minutes of exercise a day- whether it's walking, shopping or running. |

Please dont misunderstand me- I want to get it back and be healthy, but I just find it hard to quit cold turkey. I will definitely stop going for a while- at least until I get my period back and then I will gradually start going to the gym. I do realize at the moment I can't exercise in a healthy way without it becoming an obsession. I feel like I should give some more history of my weight because as I kid I was always underweight- it was the way my dad was and it's the way both of my brothers are. My brother whose turning 20 has yet to reach 100 pounds- his metabolism just burns everything up. I see my doctor regularly and he's never been concerned about my weight. I am going to do everything I can do gain back some weight and learn how to exercise in a healthy way- be that taking a 30 minute walk every day or just doing some aerobic exercises. I'm also going to eat more fats and consume more calories. I want to thank everyone who has replied- without you I would have not realized how serious the situation is- and thanks for all the concern. |

Holy crap. Ok, now I'm scared. I never even realized I wasn't eating enough as I'm usually full.. but that could be all the fibre from the vegetables. What I don't understand is that when I went to the diabetic clinic in February they weighed me in at 112 and didn't seem the least bit concerned.. but I guess that's because they aren't like my regular doctor. I'm having a lot of anxiety about quitting the exercise but I'd much rather be healthy.. I think I have an unhealthy relationship with the gym. Do you think it would still be okay if I went but didn't do a lot of cardio? Today I'm going to up the calories and maybe replace some of my vegetables with more fatty things because believe it or not I don't want to be an unhealthy weight. I want to thank all the people who replied and alerted me to all the dangers.. like infertility! That was the thing that really hit home for me..

I go to the gym 3x a week, run on treadmill at 7.7 speed for 15 minutes, do the cool down, do my abs (v-sit four 1 min intervals and do 200 crunches) then do about 25 pushups, go to the resistance training machines and do my quads, hip abbductors/adductors, biceps, triceps. On days I don't go to the gym I still do the abs and pushups.. and walk to and from school. Not incredibly active but I just don't have the energy or time to go every day as I'm still in high school

Oops sorry I'm 5"5 Thanks for the advice.. although I've kind of always been on the verge of an eating disorder since becoming really healthy I still eat quite a bit.. breakfast, lunch, dinner and if my blood sugar goes low then something for that (I'm type 1 diabetic). I'll definitely start eating some more fats like nuts, but I'm not going to stop the exercising as it's only 3x a week and not incredibley intense. I probably do need to have something after working out though so thanks for that advice |
