Weitzman - How does the sizing fit on the Reeboks? Are they about the same or do they run bigger or smaller?

I'm normally a size 8 in dress shoes, but from 9 to as high as 10 (!) in gym shoes. In the Reeboks I would've bought 8.

Sure there are a lot of excersices that probably work better, but if you can get a little extra, for free, why not??

$250 = free??  Not to mention the shoes will probably be replaced within 6 or so months. I like your logic.

I had my shoes for 3 years. They still looked like new. My mum has borrowed them from me. Next question? You might like my logic, but I sure don't like your attitude.

I tried those shoes on last week, I didn't like the fit and ended up getting regular ones instead. I talked with the sales person about them since I'm used to MBT and RYN shoes and compared to them. MBT:s are a lot more hardcore than the Easy tones, but MBT:s sell at $250... I did love mine though so if you can afford it, get the MBT:s. I don't think the Easy tones are as good, the sales girl agreed to that, but the price is so much better, and they do look quite alright, so go for it!

About spraining ancles... I don't know. I walked 6 miles per day for 3 years in my MBT:s and never hurt anything (I even ran though that's hard). Perhaps I'm just a good walker... Wink

I don't like surgery or poison, but make up and that stuff that so quick, 10 minutes a day, and easily makes me go from a 5 to a 9 or 10 I definitively go for. Why chose not to when I so easily can be beautiful?

Frankly I don't give a d*mn if anyone else has hairy legs, but I love the feeling of being waxed. Just got my first brazilian wax, and I'm not going back.

I don't understand why people chose to not look their best. Perhaps it's a European thing, but I think it's respectful to leave the sweat pants and crocs at home - or even better, don't buy it.

Weight Loss Does anyone calorie count in their head? Nov 12 2009

I do count if I don't have internet access, but over a longer period of time, like 5+ days, it doesn't work anymore. I'm not even going to try; I was on WeightWatchers a few years back and stopped writing down my points. I didn't really gain anything, but when I sat down and wrote I would remember things that I forgot when I didn't write, I'd easily eat 5 points extra that way, probably about 500 kcal that is.

I also noted that when I eat bad stuff, I tend to think I'm eating more! And when I start counting, I didn't eat 2500 kcal, more like half.

I cut all carbs (almost, can't cut everything Smile). Also, no artificial sweeteners or carbonated drinks. I also agree with hip2ships up there, no beer, I swell up too! But I've never had a problem with salt, probably because one mostly overdo salt with carbs... which I don't have much of anyways.

I hope you'll have fun!!

Weight Loss Chewing on Gum Nov 05 2009

About chewing gum being bad for the gums... it sounds a bit silly. Other physicians have actually concluded chewing being good, expecially for older people, their teeth get stronger. I've even seen ads for a piece of hard gum, non-flavored that is.

Sugar and artificial sweeteners might not be good, I don't eat gum or other candy with sugar, but I chew a couple of artificially sweetened pieces of gum a day. I think artificial sweeteners are bad too, but everybody need to be a little naughty, right? :-)

She's not going to stop. Even with this little information it's pretty much clear that she's jelous of you being able to diet.

I wouldn't plan for the once a week pizza either. Partly because you might actually want to save that extra eating for a day when you just can't eat right (then pizza Friday would make it twice that week...) and also, if you eat pizza every now and then, she'll never get it. You need to tell her exactly how you feel, that you feel that she doesn't want you to lose weight and perhaps ask her why that is, but if you do talk to her and still eat pizza with her, I can't blame her for continuing bying it.

Load up on healthier foods and keep up the good work. Remember it's for you you're trying to lose. However stupid it might sound, people subconsiously feel better if you're "as bad" as they are, because that makes the behavious "normal".

If you solve it by eating sugar, you're gonna keep on craving sugar. Try to stay off sugar completely, the first 3 days are hard, but by day 4 most people have lost their craving for sugar.

Best is of course to get off all simple carbs, but that requires a bit more work :-)

It's easy it you think about from the environmental side. Throwing food is one of our biggest environmental sins, so if you're getting rid of the yolks by throwing them (and not giving them to someone on Atkins or LCHF Laughing) go for the carton!

Fitness Knee Pain Oct 26 2009

It's impossible to diagnose online :-) but what you're describing sounds exactly like my problems. I didn't believe my doctor at first, but it's actually the hamstring that is ridiculously tight and even though there are no problems with the knee itself (thankfully) the hamstring makes it feel like it.

Normally I'm alright, but when it starts acting up I quit group fitness, stretch a lot, do more yoga and for cardio I do elliptical, rowing machine and actually jogging, since it keeps my feet in line more than for example Bodycombat (which I love and want to do 3 times a week).

If it's the same you've got, a brace could be good. Think of not twisting but always pivet on the toes. Walk with the feet really straight.

I'm really happy about this recipe, thanks a lot!! I haven't had pancakes for a long time and had no idea they could be done with protein instead. I'm on GI and eat fats though, so I'll keep the yolks.

Sounds like you might have Body Dysmorphic Disorder. I lost a lot and wear a size 2-6, or xsmall-small to my 135 lb and 5"7. When I shop I'll pick up something my size, look at it and mentally decide it's several sizes too small. I think I look like the blob (with worse skin Smile). I have friends that weigh like 50% more than I do, and I think they all look skinnier than I. Don't know what to do about it, but I guess it might pass if I just give it some time.

I weigh myself every morning btw.

Fitness Runner Stretches? Sep 03 2009

This site shows 12 stretches for runners. It's in Swedish but it's got both pictures and a little movie so it should be ok. I've used this a few times but I don't get pains and seem to skip stretching 9 times out of 10... The movie is at the bottom,  where it says Relaterade länkar Stretch i webb-TV.

I checked the movie and it doesn't seem to work anymore. I can't remove my post either... well, the pics are still there if you want to take a look :-)

I wonder why small chested girls say things like "I don't have to worry about saggage" or "lily pad nipples". Why is that okay??

I wonder what reaction I'd get if I, with my big chest, would say "don't have to worry about not being sexy"!

(That's not what I think, I just wonder why it's okay one way and not the other...)

You can also buy it in some asian markets under the name "shirataki noodles" or "miracle noodles."

... or konyakku! There are those that are calorie free, and then some that are about 30 cals per portion. Those with cals are, (of course!!) a bit tastier, but they're both alright. I put them in a Tom Yam Goong soup that also is low in calories. For lunch I'll put some shrimp in there... I'll be totally full for hours at something between 0 and 150 cals! I love this stuff!

I know at least 2 type 2 diabetics that could stop taking insulin after just a few (3-4) weeks off carbs. It's probably impossible to get off 100%, but with the Low Carb High Fat diet they aim for GI=0. At first people on LCHF might find it hard to stay away from fruits, but in the long run it's worth not having to take medication. This is how diabetics lived 40 years ago, before it struck the big pharmaceutical companies how much money they could make off sick people...

And about the amounts of fat, my mother lost 20 pounds and her husband 50 on this diet, and they are healthier than they've ever been!

Motivation was I never meant to be thin? Aug 13 2009

You know, 100 pounds is a to high set goal. Of course we have dreams, but aiming at something easier to reach would make things a lot easier. Instead of thinking about losing 100 pounds and not having a time frame, take small steps. Think 10 pounds until Halloween. And then you can decide for a new goal. When (not if!) you reach your -10 goal at Halloween, you treat yourself to something that you just can't get until then, but no foods, perhaps a piece of clothing or something you want to do.

I have just gotten very close to what I want to weigh, and frankly, I was happiest inbetween, after I lost 15 pounds and had 10 left. This is strange, but I guess it has to do with still having something to work on but also being able to reach my goals.

You will beat the compulsiveness too, but staring at 100 pounds would make anyone give up. So don't! 10 pounds is fantastic to lose too!

I'm jealous! I haven't been able to buy a cute bra (I've got a 32G...) since I was 14. When I shop I order from England which of course costs a lot! Going without one is just totally out of the question, actually I'd like to wear one when I sleep as well...

I'm happy they still look alright after 2 kids and weight gain and loss, but when I exercise, shop for clothes, want to wear halternecks or strapless they're just no fun. Lately my kids lean on them when they've come over to sleep in my bed and that's not just painful, but rather embarrasing too! Embarassed

Pregnancy & Parenting How do you know if and when you are going to develop stretch marks Jun 20 2009

I didn't notice anything at all. I was totally free of stretch marks until week 38 with my first, and I had gained a lot so my skin wasn't very tight. Then, during week 39-40 I got a lot. (I went 17 days over time...)

Sorry to be telling you this, but don't worry, you could still be fine. And also, I really don't dislike my stretch marks, they just remind me of my girls. (And the boobs made it thru fine ;-)

Weight Loss Hoodia--What do you guys think? Jun 17 2009
22:11 (UTC)

I found a good, pure brand too, and was on Hoodia for about 1½ years. At first I thought it helped, but when I stopped taking them (a couple of times) I didn't notice a difference any longer, my stomach might have shrunk, I don't know. But for me who doesn't drink coffee and therefore never get any caffeine, it was perfect. The pills didn't make me twitchy and paranoid like ephedra and caffeine does (ephedra is really bad, don't try it). I just seemed a bit more alert all the time, I could sleep just a little bit less, like 45 minutes less every night, and still I felt more alert, and because of that, happy.

Fitness I want muscles AND weight loss - is it possible? Jun 16 2009

I agree with vyperman7. Since March I've lost about 15 pounds, but gained muscle. Without the muscle gain I'd probably have lost double as much, I'm back in pants I wore when I was at my skinniest. I'm trying to eat around 1500 calories per day. I don't know the math around all of this, but I know I could do both.

Weight Loss Atkins diet Jun 14 2009

I've tried an version, Low Carb High Fat. You don't eat any carbs (well, you can't avoid all) and you max up the fat. I didn't go all the way, I couldn't eat the fat and just concentrated on avoiding carbs and eating proteins. I felt irritated and a bit sick the second and third day, but after that I was fine. I lost about 10-15 pounds, that I didn't gain back, and I lost my exzema that I'd had for 7 years, and it was severe. A while after I got better I got off the diet since I missed fruits so much, and am now on Glycemic Index, which is more suitable in the long run. The exzema has not come back, then I'll try the diet again.

My mother and her husband on the other hand, has been on the LCHF diet for 1½ year. My mum has lost about 20 pounds but is so healthy that she wants to stay on the diet for good. Her husband has lost about 80 pounds and is still losing, he was a lot more overweight. They influenced a friend, he started eating the same way and got rid of his diabetes in less than two months.

Still I don't like the diet. It's very bad for the environment, another reason for me to get off of it. Meats, especially red, is disastrous for the world. But it changed my way of eating to the better, I'll probably consider sugar a poison for the rest of my life.
