I did "couch to 5k" (you can google it) which is a walk/run program like pgeorgian mentioned.  Then a couple months later I did a 5k.  I was slow as molasses, but I did it.  Wasn't too grueling at all.

r43boxer- Thanks!  I agree with finding me, you are VERY encouraging.  I'm doing much better, exercised the last two days, eating much better.

jenna- Glad to hear that you're being 'selfish!'  Your post helped me because I realize I need to be selfish, too.  I can't eat fast food with friends because I don't want them to feel like they're pigging out alone, and I can't hang out with friends after work because that's when I exercise.

Ooops.  Fell of the wagon and then got run over by it...

Tomorrow I'll get back on track.  Finally...

I have learned that I can NOT skip a day of exercise.  My memory is short and after one day I forget that exercise makes me feel amazingly good, and begin to think that it's awful and boring.  Plus when I don't exercise, I get lazy in general and start going through drive thrus instead of into the grocery store.

On another note- glad to see more people here!

Some, but not all.  I would think.  I've noticed when I've ODed on spinach it comes out pretty quickly and pretty undigested looking.

But some could mean 90% or 10%. 

Plus are you really pooping the chinese food?  I don't know if a body can process food that fast.  If it's only 20 minutes later you'd be able to see bits of rice still, right?

Eww.  I grossed myself out a bit :)

My weigh-in day is tomorrow.  I weighed myself today, and I'm STILL 244, but I did eat a ton of salt last night right before bed so there's probably some bloat today.

I'm really trying to not get bent out of shape about the number.  My goals are all exercise oriented, and I'm feeling pretty good because I just started doing push ups and I can feel muscles in my arms now.

I'm very excited for this challenge because I've been stuck for a couple weeks now. I can only tell myself it's muscle weight that I'm gaining for so long before I start wondering what I could be doing different.

Anyways.  My goal for this week is to lose ANYTHING just to break out of this plateau.

That really doesn't sound true.  I just had my period and the scale hasn't budged, and even though it's frustrating I know that it's just water weight and I'm gaining muscle from working out. 

Plus it's pretty depressing and self-defeatist to think of it as "I can't lose weight 25% of the time, so why bother..." you know?

I  agree with crabot.  No one will quit smoking unless they want to.  I quit smoking cold turkey, and have been smoke free for 6 months, because I wanted to quit.  I still loved smoking when I quit, but the cons outweighed the pros for me, and now I don't want to start up again because smoking has become gross to me.

Blend cooked garbanzo beans, garlic, lemon juice, and olive oil.   Add the olive oil while it's blending until it's a smooth consistency.  That's my basic recipe.  You can add whatever else you want, like roasted peppers, herbs, or whatever else.

I really like spinach with eggs. I make a pseudo-quiche by tossing spinach with beaten eggs and baking it. I add lots of garlic, pepper, and sriracha hot sauce. The spinach cooks better if you chop the spinach pretty fine. When I had a food processor I'd toss it in there, now I just use a knife, or leave it whole if I'm lazy/want it cooked a bit less.
