Weight Loss Eating less then BMR? Mar 11 2009

I found a tool that will work out you BMR, it tells you how much you should eat to maintain your weight and how much you need to eat to loose a bit of weight and alot of weight.

Turns out my BMR is 2050 kcals (yikes) and to loose alot weight i'd need to eat 1528 kcals a day

http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calc ulator.htm

Actually, oddbob - that site isn't calculating your BMR, it is calculating your daily expenditure, same as what CC calculates. BMR is basal metabolic rate and it's what you would burn in a coma, not what you actually burn in a day.

If you want to find your BMR, try www.phord.com/cc.

according to this i should be eating 1709 cals a day to loose half a pound a week

to be honest i'm confused now..

Its my flat, i pay all the bills on the place, so it would be him who needed to leave.. which makes it even harder..

My life is already untangled from his, as i am finacially indpendent, i just need him to leave and i know he'll have trouble finding somewhere to live as he is in masses of debt with housing companies..

I then normally have a bit of fruit or a hot choccy with it :)

Weight Loss The benifits of giving up Cola Mar 04 2009
10:15 (UTC)
26

You will be addicted to it most likely.. but if you give up the cola you have more calories to play with therefore  you can eat more food! (always a good thing)

Cola has tonns of sugar in and tonns of caffine..

I don't personally like cola, so i don;t know the pain of cutting it out.

But i do suggest drinking alot less, and maybe drink a bit more water to balance it out.

I've found the best way to drink all my water :-)

I buy myself a big 750ml bottle of evian drink all that and then fill it up again with tap water or water from work. Voila an easy 1.5 litres.

And if i'm thirsty later i know i can drink more without me worrying i'm drinking Too much water..

I've upped my calories from 1250 to 1500 asi felt like i was starving myself and denying myself foods.

But 1500 works for me as i can get all the nutrients i need without starving myself.

I'll update to see whether i do loose more weight on 1500 than 1250. but at the mo my trousers feel a little looser and these are a size 14 (i'm usually wearing 16's)

Original Post by gi-jane:

Why do you have a cookie jar?....  I'm pretty sure I wake up some mornings and could tuck down a big greasy bacon sandwich followed by a bar of chocolate if it was available.   But when I rock up in my kitchen at 6.30am the choices I'm presented with are... muesli, porridge oats, toast, eggs, fresh fruit, yoghurts... so that's what I eat.  Rule 1... make it easier for yourself to eat well than to eat badly.  Remove things you don't want to eat from your environment.... kitchen cupboards/car/desk.... and you're more likely to succeed.

Rule 2 .... Yes, absolutely make your healthy diet more exciting.  Who in their right mind can get motivated & enthusiastic about eating cottage cheese or 'egg white omelettes' (blargh!) day after day?  Smile  Don't even go there.  Think your day through in advance and deliberately plan it so that you're eating healthy food that is delicious, stimulating, filling....  Get the cookbooks and the chopping board out and rustle up something truly marvellous for those precious calories.  A spicy curry, some delicately seasoned seafood, a small seared steak, a lavishly colourful salad, some exotic fresh fruit .... the array of fantastically naturally healthy foods is enormous.  Make a plan, make a shopping list and be inspired.  Let the pleasure of what you eat keep you coming back for more....

Rule 3....  Don't be 'on a diet' or 'off a diet'... it's too rigid, too black and white, too unrealistic.  Say something like 'I'm never eating chocolate again' and you've instantly failed because you will, at some point, eat a piece of chocolate.  Decide that you're going to make better choices most of the time (not all the time).  Decide that this is how you're going to live from now on so it ahs to be flexible and fun... not a torture.  Include some not-so-healthy foods in the mix so that you don't feel deprived.

The trick is to take it one day at a time... making each day a nice experience.... until one day you will find you are in a healthy eating routine and you no longer have to think about it quite so much.  Good luck

Thats really good advice :) i can use that thanks

Foods "Real" Food? Feb 27 2009
15:35 (UTC)
20

I love having real food as i just love cooking, tonight i know i'm having grilled plaice, potato wedges with homemade tarter sauce with broccoli and peas, yum with just a drizzle of lemon juice on my plaice.. my tastebuds are tingling from the thought..

I would rather eat real foods as i know what's gone into it, rather than eat low fat, high sugar foods.. I had a low fat fish pie and it contained 26 grams of sugar!

If i cook it myself i can switch the high fat things with alternitives for example if something requires cream i either use low fat creme fresh or low fat natural yougurt :)

Although i don't always have the time to cook so i normally just have some frozen birds eye chicken and some steam in the bag veg..

Exercising 3 times a week for 30mins a time is the key to overall fitness, yes you will loose weight doing exercise especially if you've got a trainer who will increase the diffculty so y ou are pushing yourself harder.

If you ate nacho's and cheese, salad, sour cream and chicken and it still came under your daily cals don't worry about it, unless it was just one meal..

I regullary treat myself to something i want but i allocate calories to it, including it in my daily calories, i'd rather do that than overspend and binge

Hope this Helps
