Ohh this drives me insane as well, my mind is constantly on food, what I`ll eat next, when to eat it, what to eat for dinner, I`ll even plan days ahead and then if I`m not thinking of that Im battling with my head over what weight I should be, should I increase, should I maintain etc. Drives me f*ing insane, so I`m gonna say 90% of the time my head is ed related.

Hmm Ive never tried just a bowl of wheatbran on its own, Im not sure how that would work. I have make a bowl of porridge ( oatmeal) though with the wheatbran mixed in with the oats, it turned out quite nice, added a bit more texture to the oats.

If you try just the wheatbran on its own let me know how it goes, not really sure it would taste of much though, wheatbran can be a little tasteless.

I have low blood pressure as well, I always did and when I was at my lowest weight it was even lower to.

Low pressure goes alongside low weight, I cant advise you on the sodium part though I never bother keeping track of my sodium intake so I dont know how that affects it. You've mentioned worrys about sodium a lot before, it sounds as though you really try to control it, just remember you do need a certain amount of sodium in your diet. Its really only people who add lots of salt to their food or eat alot of processed salty foods that need to count and keep track.

Anyway back to the topic, you could be someone who will always have bp on the low side although at the minute its very low due to your weight. As  you put on more weight and get healthier it hopefully should increase to.

Are pure protein bars good? Ive seen them in the shops but was a little put off by the ingredient list, I`m not putting them down or anything I`m just curious.

Fractionated palm kernal oil, maltitol syrup? I dont know what alot of the ingredients are!

They do look pretty good though and 20g of protein is very appealing.

Ok I know its an old thread but I find books quite helpful at times.

I agree life without ed is a pretty good book, Ive just got her new one as well, Ive heard its supposed to be good to.

Maryjayne: was that book thin the one by Grace Bowman? If it was I actually found that book really good, but I guess it depends on what mindset you are in when you read it, I think the reason I like it so much was because I could relate to alot of what she was saying.

Health & Support Help, please help... Nov 05 2009

Have you tried building yourself up a proper consistent plan and sticking to it every day?

Like have 3 good main meals and 3 good snacks every day, keep your energy levels up, make sure your eating enough for your acitivty level because if you undereat for what you are doing this will set you up for a binge. Also if you do binge dont cut back the next day because that just sets you straight back into the cycle.

Keeping yourself on a consistent plan might really help.

Health & Support Questions about hospitalization? Nov 05 2009

Yes your life is at risk by throwing up, it puts alot of strain on the body and can cause alot of damage that you dont always see.

Your bmi is very underweight and it doesnt matter how advanced you might think your history is/isnt, you are a candidate for IP. There are a wide range of bmis in IP facilities so dont let that put you off. You`ll find quite a lot of IP clinics wont take someone with a bmi of 12 or 13 because its to low, they are sent to hospital first.

Definitely go to the hospital and seek some proper advice, you certainly deserve treatment.

Weight Gain Freaking out at Gaining! Nov 05 2009
19:58 (UTC)

Dont panic you arent going to fast, 1.5 kg in a week isnt a huge amount and remember that at the beginning you will put on more, if you stick with your eating plan consistently you`ll begin to see it even out a bit.

The reason you ate more after dinner the other night was because you had cut back throughout the day. Ive done the same, Ive cut back during the day and then later on Ive gone mad and its because our bodies are playing catch up.

If you feel you can eat more then by all means do! I dont see any harm in adding in an extra snack if you could manage it, I normally eat 3 meals and 3 snacks a day, so you could just work out a structured way to split up your day. If you didnt want to add an extra snack then just eat more at your other meals or bulk them up by eating higher calorie foods.

Hang in there, I know its scary and tough to begin with but it will be worth it in the end and it will get easier.

I love weetabix, I pour milk over mine then heat them up in the microwave and add raisins, strawberries and almonds, yummy!

Sometimes they are pretty good to just eat as they are as well, you can spread some jam/pb/nutella over them and have them like you would toast.

Crumbling them up and making a yogurt layer with fruit is also good.

I have huge problems with this, like someone else suggested at nights cake your hands in something like neutrogena norweigian swiss cream and then pop some cotton gloves on over it.

I dont like that cream for during the day though because its to greasy so during the day I use Eurcerin its really brilliant, you can get it in boots, its expensive but it helps alot.

Id just be careful around her, like make sure you all wash your hands after handling things shes been in contact with and clean dished in very hot water etc but really I wouldnt panic to much.

I know swine flu has been very serious for some people and has killed some but there have also been loads of people who have had it and are ok. I know quite a few people who have had it and yeah they felt terrible for a while just as you would if you were sick but they are totally fine now. So I wouldnt panic to much, just be careful.

Health & Support Exhausted Oct 20 2009

I found in recovery that when I began to eat more I was more tired throughout the day and got tired quicker.

As for the eating at night, do you have a snack before bed? That might help you from waking up to eat something. I find if I get into the habit of waking up at certain times during the night then I keep doing it, maybe try when you wake up not getting out of bed or turning on the light but trying to get straight back to sleep before the sleepyness goes away.

Foods Who here loves egg-whites and has an egg-separator at home? Oct 18 2009

sometimes to seperate the egg, I crack it onto a saucer and then use the rim of an egg cup to hold the yolk while you drain off the white part.

Either that or do as kriklaf said and keep tossing it between the two halves, no need for a gadget then.

Weight Gain Have I messed things up? Oct 16 2009

Thanks everyone for your replies. Rebel you nailed it pretty much when you said about letting ed make the decisions, I think this is my main problem at the minute.  Whenever I was eating the 2500 I did feel better in a way, although it was hard it was nice being able to eat things without to much worry now I am back into that cycle of horribly thinking about my calorie intake for all the wrong reasons. Its just a constant battle now between one side of me which doesnt want to get ill again and the other side which is trying to drag me down.

I thought at one point that spending time on this board and other sites would keep me held in my ed and prevent me from getting better but recently I havent been spending as much time online and I havent been doing as well, I think sometimes coming on here gives me a bit of a reality check.

Weight Gain quorn Oct 13 2009

I think it would be good to move out of your safety zone and try something else. I never really saw the appeal of Quorn, I can understand if your a vegetarian but if not then Id much rather eat some meat instead, Quorn doesnt really have a lot of protein in it.

I struggle a little when it comes to things such as red meat but have you thought of trying chicken? To start if slow just try putting it in sandwiches and then build up to eating a dinner with chicken in it, theres lots of things you can do with it. What about expanding your fish from just cod, trying maybe some shellfish for a change?

If you feel up to it give the red meat a go, I eat the extra lean stuff, you can get it in Tesco/Sainsburys, I know a lot of people will disagree a say to eat the normal regular type but I find red meats a struggle to eat so this makes it a little easier. It tastes really good made in a bolognese.

Go for it, you`ll never know if you like these things till you try them Smile

Original Post by lilsammi23:

I eat Kit Kats and Twix very strangely... I bite off the chocolate around the edges, then for Kit Kats I eat each layer separately, with twix I eat the caramel first, then the cookie.

Granted, I don't eat them often, so it's a quirk most people don't know about.

I also talk to inanimate objects like the copier at work and my computer.  At some point they will listen to reason and start functioning because I said so rather than putting me through hours of random paper jams etc. ;)

Laughing I dont eat them anymore but when I did I ate my kit kats the same way, nibble round the edges first then the chocolate off the top and then each layer bit by bit, best way to eat it!  I tend to disect the majority of my food actually.

I know theres a lot of people who are against drinking cows milk and thats fine if thats what they believe in I respect that.

I've always grown up on drinking just regular cows milk and I still do and its caused me no ill effects. I think at the end of the day its really down to personal preferences.

I tried rice milk once and didnt like it, it was to sweet tasting.
