| Weight Loss | You HAVE TO let the body stabilize? | Nov 23 2009 13:19 (UTC) |

Hello! I'm in your EXACT same situation. I've been around 188 lbs. since late September, and have only seen a decrease 1 TIME!!! I started in February, and have lost 40 lbs. so far-- not nearly as much as you though. I have been unable to consistently lose recently, and like you have a goal that I would like to meet. I've recently thought about allowing my body time to get used to this new weight and just maintain until the beginning of next year, and then starting over. I'm sorry I don't have an answer to your post, as I'm also looking for a solution to my same problem. Maybe once you get things moving again, you can share with me what you did? Good Luck! |

I think you look great at that weight! As sereneinsanity said, I'm also about 4 inches shorter than you, and aiming for about that weight (155lbs)! Toning up is always a good idea! |

Ladychach...I feel your pain. I lost about 40ish pounds since February, and have been stuck for almost 2 months! I have tried every single possible recommendation-- zig zagging calories, eating at maintenance for 2 weeks, upping exercise, new exercise routines, etc. I've tried it all and nothing has worked. I guess what the experts say is true. Everyone has a set point, where you temporarily stop losing weight. I guess I've found my set point. I just hope that I don't lose all motivation while trying to break through this. Good luck!! |

Hi ladies!! I've been MIA for like a month now. No news for me. I've literally been fluctuating between 188-190 for the past month and a half. I've tried just about everything to get over it, but it just won't budge. I refuse to let this defeat me! I've increased my end of year goal weight to 180, and I want to reach my goal weight of 155-160 by May of next year! Plenty of time to get this thing going again! I wish you ladies luck!!!! As soon as I see a significant drop, this is the first place I'm posting it! |

WOW! First let me just say congratulations on your accomplishment! That is huge! I started in February and so far have lost almost 40 lbs. with another 30-40 to go. Lately the weight loss has come to almost a complete stop, I'm not sure what I can do to get it going. I'm sure during your journey you encountered a few plateaus? What did you do to get past them, and how did you not give up all hope in reaching your goal weight? |

Hi jayz_gal2004! How frustrating that must be. I would definitely hit the dressing room ASAP! Well, the experts usually say every 15 pounds or so you drop a dress size. You lost about 36 pounds, which means about 2 dress sizes. Take it from there and see what fits. I lost about 39-40 pounds and 2 dress sizes. Here are my current stats

Hey suzosuz..unfortunately plateaus just SUCK! I have been stuck between 188-192 since September, and the scale just won't budge. I successfully lost 40ish pounds since February, but have another 30-40 to go. According to the article that posted last week, and that clairelaine pointed out, unfortunately after you lose a certain amount of weight, you reach a set point, where its is recommended to increase your calorie intake to maintenance (the article suggested almost 6 months--I think that's waaay too long) until your body can get used to its new weight. Ever since I read the article, I've been eating around my maintenance calories, but still keeping a deficit from exercise. I'm not sure what else I can do, and I am getting extremely FRUSTRATED! If anyone has any advice, please let me know!! Good luck suzosuz! |

Wow! I recently realized that my feet lost weight--crazy I know. Before I gained weight I wore a size 9 shoe and after my gain went up to a size 11. I've recently lost almost 40 lbs. and my size 11 shoes are too big and my feet slip out of them. I still have another 30 pounds to go and I am assuming that once I reach my goal I will be able to wear my size 9 shoe again. |

Hi ladies! I know that I haven't reported on here in a while. To be quite honest, I've been soo frustrated with my weight loss, or lack thereof. Ever since July, I have been between 192-195. I know that once you lose at least 10% of your body weight your progress slows, and it becomes A LOT harder. Well, I have lost about 16% and I thought I was on a roll. It's been sooo much SLOWER and HARDER to lose that 1 lb. per week that I was easily losing a couple months ago. I've been experimenting with different methods, but nothing seems to work. As far as working out is concerned, I'm still going at it 5 days a week with cardio, strength, and calisthenics. I'm trying to keep my intake around 1650 (my BMR). I'm going to see how this week goes, and if nothing happens, I will maintain at this weight for a couple weeks, and hopefully that will jump start my weight loss. Hope everyone is doing well and is still battling this weight loss one day at a time. Here are my weekly stats: SW: 228 SW for this challenge: 223.4 CW: 190.6 Lost this challenge: 32.8 lbs. Next goal: 188-189 GW: 160-165 I'm still holding out for 175 lbs. by December and an ultimate goal weight between 160-165. |

Hi kelseymarie2. We roughly have the same stats. I'm a 23 y/o female 5'6 and weigh 192 (down from 228). Your caloric intake seems a little low. On my workout days I'm eating a minimum of 1650 calories. And on my non-workout days I remain within the range of 1200-1450 calories. If you're working out at the level you say you are, you should definitely consume a little more. You can use this website as a guide, as it has really helped me along the way: www.phord.com/cc |

Hi maxx86!!! Well last time I adjusted my calorie intake a bit, and switched up my exercise routine. Everything that worked before doesn't seem to work now. I know that usually people become very comfortable in dieting that they stop logging everything they eat- well that's definitely not the case with me. Maybe my body is just taking time to adjust to the new weight? |

Hello all!!! Glad to see the posts! Welcome to the group tomwatson92 and leslie157. I see that each of you has made a significant difference already! Keep up the good work! Basically, just post whenever your weigh-in day is (we all have different days) and we will always respond : ) brownsug- now you know I have to use wants2bhot's famous line right..."CAN I GET A WOOT WOOT!!"--LOL! Congrats girl! The changes that you've made are really working! Keep it up and you'll be in onderland before you know it. wants2bhot- Even though we had our side convo yesterday, I just wanted to thank you for constantly encouraging me not to give up! I've felt like giving up several times, but each time you told me to keep pushing. I can't wait to experience what it feels like when you reach your goal. I know just what you mean about some insurance pounds--lol..I've given myself about 15 of them! Of course I'll always adjust as I lose more.--Keep checking in...we miss you!! So for the past couple weeks I have been stuck between 193-195. You constantly have to switch up your daily intake and exercise as you lose. Although this is necessary to lose weight, I always struggle with it. I lowered my intake to 1650 max on workout days, and 1450 max on non-workout days. I also make sure to push it to the max while I am working out too. All of the hard work paid off this past week and I hit an all time low today... Here are my weekly stats: SW: 228 SW for this challenge: 223.4 CW: 192.2 Lost this challenge: 31.2 lbs. Next goal: 190-191 GW: 160-165 Have a great weekend ladies!! |

Wow it is so interesting to read all of the posts. operation-filth we're the same height. I am also 5"6 and wear a size 12. I started at 228 lbs. and wearing about 16/18. I went down to 14s at about 210 lbs. and am now comfortably wearing a 12 at 194lbs. My goal is to get down to a size 8 or 160 lbs. Really it is whatever comes first. It really depends on your body type, and how fat is distributed across your body. |

Hey ladies! I hope everyone is having a great week! I'm still on track (counting calories and exercising) but haven't seen 193 pounds again on the scale! I'm still hoping that it will show up by the end of the week. TOM was definitely lurking and causing me to retain a bunch of water, so since it's done I had a small loss but just not big enough! Welcome back edmcky05!!! Good job on the 5lb. loss already!!! Don't worry about falling off the wagon-we all do it-- what matters is that you made the decision to come back and keep trying! Keep it up! lisaokafor3288 Sorry to hear that you were sick BUT on the up side...Congratulations!! Welcome to onderland!! I know that it feels soooo good to see a 1 in front of any number. Hello ladies!!! I had a WONDERFUL vacation in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic and didn't think about calories one time (ok maybe a few). I had a nice "diet vacation" but still remained active while I was there (swimming, walking, running, etc). When I got back I actually weighed in a little lower than expected. It feels great to be back on track! So Saturday's weight was 193.2 (woot woot--as wants2bhot would say)! BUT that didn't last too long. I hit the gym and got back into my cardio and weight training routine. Unfortunately I'm sore, and I think TOM is lurking around somewhere. Needless to say, I am up today, but hopefully expecting a drop when I weigh in again on Saturday. I can see that I missed a lot (almost 2 pages worth)! So first, let me welcome mikka_jd and clc1979!! This is a great motivational group! brownsug I am so proud of you!!! Not giving up and pushing through can really help make a difference! Don't worry how small the initial loss is. It really adds up, and before you know it you will be at your goal weight!! Keep up the great work! lisaokafor3288-- You are on a roll!!! Go ahead girl! Keep it up! I know that weight fluctuations are normal, but sometimes they can be so frustrating. Just keep doing what you're doing, and it will level out. tmoakley11-- Congrats!!! You were worried that you weren't losing anything, and you've started to shed. Like I told brownsug, don't worry about the how small the loss is, because it really adds up! And your Thanksgiving goal is achievable if you just stick with it!!! wants2bhot-- GOAL????? I'm sooooo happy for you!! "CAN I GET A WOOT WOOT???"--LOL! That is soooo amazing and inspirational! So you have achieved your goal and now need to maintain? Wow! Well I nominate you as the veteran of this group. So please still drop in and give us plenty of advice! : ) You ladies are truly something! I'm so happy that we are doing this together! Keep up the good work! Hey ladies! I hope everyone is having a great weekend! This week was ok. I weighed in on Wednesday at 198.6 but didn't get a chance to post it on here. I wasn't too worried about the .6lb increase from the previous week primarily because my salt intake was WAY above normal and I started the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred level 2, and I was beyond sore for a few days. I'm much better today, and the scale definitely moved in my favor. I'm down to 195 today, and this will probably be my last post before I go on vacation. I'm super excited because I set a goal for myself to be at 195 by the time I left. So far, so good. As long as I can maintain eating and exercising well until I leave on Wednesday. I'm a little nervous because I'll be at an all-inclusive (food, snacks, ALCOHOL) in the Caribbean for a whole week! I'm just praying that I can maintain my weight, and not gain a ton while I'm there. So I will check back to see if there are any updates before I leave. If not, enjoy your weekend!! yasminep Welcome! Its so nice to see the new posts weekly. You've done great so far! Keep up the good work! brownsug How is the progress so far? Anything new yet? I can't wait to hear the good news from you : ) angelic_princess Congrats girl!!! I can't believe you've lost that many inches already!!! That is amazing! And you're right, the only person holding us back is US! Keep doing your thing! tmoakley11 It gets easier as time goes by. Just remember that we didn't get this way overnight, and unfortunately once we start this process it won't all come off immediately. Just keep pushing, and whatever you do, don't give up! wants2bhot Thanks so much for the encouragement! It seems like just yesterday I was complaining to you about how the weight just wasn't coming off. You motivated me and told me not to give up, and I'm sooooo glad I listened! But look at you! 60 POUNDS????? That is incredible, and something you should be soooo proud of! You're an inspiration to us all! I must say, that you're one of the veterans of this group, and I can't wait to get to what you've accomplished! I guess pretty soon you'll be maintaining? Hi Ladies!!! I hope everyone is having a great week! Its nice to see all of the recent posts, and that everyone is still trying to tackle this weight loss one day at a time (at least I know that I am). Well, I should have posted it on here, because on Saturday I hit 199.6!!! It felt soooo good! I haven't been under 200 in 4 years!!! I know that I have a ways more to go, but I just can't help but to feel a little relieved. Yesterday became an unplanned maintenance day since I had a multicultural festival at work (food from lots of different places--YUM!). So today the scale went up a little bit, which was expected, but I know by the end of the week I should be back down. Well, I look forward to reading your updates : ) SW: 228 SW for this challenge: 223.4 CW: 200.2 Lost this challenge: 23.2 lbs. Next goal: 197-198 GW: Not sure yet.. right now it is 175-180... but I may change my mind. So my next mini goal is 195 (hopefully before my July 22-29 vacation to the Dominican Republic). |

Hey ladies!!! I'm glad to see the weekly posts. wants2bhot I'm glad to see that you're back in the game! We we're missing you, since you're the ring leader! Glad to see that you've been devoting your time to your sister's wedding, and not falling off the wagon (LOL!) I can't believe you're only 4 pounds away from your goal weight! I'm sooo jealous! angelz09 Welcome! I'm sure that you will soon find out that Calorie Count is a great motivational site! The problem that you've encountered, that anyone new to working out has come across is you're probably working muscles that you haven't worked in a long time. Most times, muscles will surround themselves in water while they recover (hence the increase on the scale). Continue to work out, and eat enough to have a healthy deficit (500-750) and eventually you will see a decrease on the scale. It can be frustrating, but TRUST ME when I say that IT WORKS! So I didn't post last week, since I was crazy busy with things going on. My weight loss has stalled a bit, and I'm not losing as consistently as I have before. Last Saturday I hit 200.8, but almost immediately went back up! I'm desperately trying to get under 200, but the scale doesn't seem to be moving in my favor. I've switched up my calorie intake and my exercise routine over the past couple weeks, but its just creeping along. If my weight remains constant after my weigh-in on Saturday, I guess I'll have to take a "vacation" and maintain for a short period of time until I can continue to lose at a constant rate again. This whole thing is just so frustrating. But thanks for listening. Anyways, here are my stats... SW: 228 SW for this challenge: 223.4 CW: 201.6 Lost this challenge: 21.8 lbs. Next goal: Back down or under 200!!! (UGH!) GW: Not sure yet.. this keeps changing.. Maybe back up to 175-180 (As I get closer, I feel like anything more than 25 lbs. may be too much.. but then again, I may change my mind again) |

tmoakley11 I wouldn't worry too much about the initial "gain." As hard as it is to acknowledge the numbers on the scale, we constantly have to remind ourselves that if you've begun a new lifestyle your body will go through some changes that don't always initially show up on the scale. Especially if you've begun a new exercise routine and like you said, are building muscle. For everyone it is different, but I noticed a small change (2 pounds) after about 3 weeks, and consistently afterwards would only drop 1-3 pounds per week. One thing you may want to do is look at your calorie intake. Make sure you're eating what your body needs for your activity level. If the scale still isn't moving in your favor I would get a measuring tape and use that as your unit of measure. Sometimes it takes a little while for the numbers on the scale to catch up. |

Well assuming you are female, I am female 5"6 and 200.8 lbs, and the days that I workout I eat a minimum of 1650 and a max of 1800 calories. The recommended intake of 1200 is for a sedentary female with no activity level. You may want to try increasing your intake to about 1500-1600 calories per day. Your exercise routine seems ok, as well as your diet. |

tmoakley11 You are welcome. I've always been a yo-yo dieter and I always thought there was a secret method to weight loss, that I just hadn't found yet. Who knew it could be a simple answer, such as diet and exercise! I still eat whatever I want, but in moderation. I am more concerned with eating healthier foods, like fruits and vegetables and whole grains, because I can eat more of them without going over my daily calorie intake. And trust me, I love to eat! I've never been the athletic type (EVER) but I decided to start an exercise routine of 4-5 days of cardio and weight training. This really helps, not just to lose weight, but in feeling better physically. Like everyone on CC, you will get frustrated! At one point or another you will feel like giving up, but the best advice I can give you is to keep going! If something isn't working, then change it! I just recently kicked myself out of an almost month long plateau. Had I given up, I'd be on my way back to where I started, but I just had to keep moving. Just Saturday the scale hit 200.8! I haven't been there in almost 4 years. Just stay motivated and if ever you need someone to talk to, message me or anyone on the forums. This site is huge on motivational support. But good luck on getting started, and if I can do this, TRUST ME, you can too! BTW, good job on getting the scale! What I'm slowly learning, is be careful not to get too hung up on the number. It's not always as accurate as it should be : ) |

brownsug I hear you about being busy at work! I had quite a few weeks like that last month (and the scale certainly showed it). Yea the days that you don't workout, it is a really good idea to eat sensibly. I've found that even a little bit of movement throughout the day makes a huge difference. You've been doing great, and we have to keep telling ourselves (myself included) that slow and steady weight loss will be more sustainable in the future!! Keep it up brownsug! You got it! tmoakley11 Welcome!!! We're actually a small weigh in group, which posts stats weekly. Whatever day you choose actually. Mine are Wednesdays on here, and Wednesdays and Saturdays for the CC weight log. You will find if you haven't already that this site is GREAT! The tools, the forums, the people, are all encouraging. I have been on since February of this year and anytime I needed support or guidance, I got it here! As far as picking a goal weight, you may speak with people who disagree with this but, I am not looking towards a "healthy" BMI. For my height, build, and frame, a healthy weight would be between 120-155 pounds. My lowest was 140 lbs. in high school and I wore a size 3 and was, in my opinion, way too small. I'm attempting to reach a healthy weight, which in my opinion is 165-170 (my BMI would still be considered 'overweight' however. It all depends on you, and what weight you're comfortable at. If your goal is a number, such as BMI or a number on the scale, then you can adjust accordingly. First thing first, is to definitely find some type of unit of measure, whether it be a measuring tape, or a scale. It will definitely help you track your progress. BTW, when I started we we're twins! I started at 228 5"6 and am now 202. pikaru1 Welcome as well!! It's amazing to see that you've lost that much weight! I am aiming for an overall loss of 58-63 lbs, similar to what you've accomplished. Look forward to your weekly posts!! |

Ladies, where have you been?? Am I in this all alone? Hope not! I hope everyone is still pushing through, so we can all move forward together. Well, I guess I'll post this week's stats and hopefully get a reply? The scale finally moved this week in the right direction! I guess the change in my exercise routine, and the change in my calorie intake really paid off. I'm hoping that the scale continues to move down, so I can at least get closer to my goal! Here it is: SW: 228 SW for this challenge: 223.4 CW: 202.8 (Down 4.2lbs from last week- I'm sure a lot is water loss) Lost this challenge: 20.6 lbs. Next goal: 200-201 (Under 200 by the end of June) GW: 165-170 (I've adjusted this to give myself 5 lbs. of wiggle room once I reach my goal weight) |

I saw this post and wanted to comment. I too have wonderful curves that I have absolutely no intention of loosing. I'm 5"7 and currently 205 lbs. (down from 228 lbs.) and the healthy weight for my height and age (23 y/o) is 120-155. At my lowest weight I was 140, and I thought I was way too skinny. In fact, when I look at old pictures, I do look sickly (for how I am proportioned). I too am just trying to maintain a healthier lifestyle, and my goal weight is about 170-175. Everyone has their own personal preference on what goal size is the right one given certain stats, but only you can make that decision and be comfortable in your own skin. |

kykena45 Water plays a very important role. Before CC, I desperately needed at least one ginger ale soda a day. Once I started CC, I switched to one diet soda a day. I moved from that about 2 months ago to Crystal Light water packets. For the past month or so, the only liquid I drink is water (no flavored packets included). I manage to drink about 1.5-2 liters of water per day. I know that there are different recommendations on how much to drink, but I go by the urine color test. The closer the urine color is to clear, I know that I'm drinking enough. |
