Im not a expert but that could be why you are not loosing also not going to the toilet is really really bad for your health hun,all i can ask is are you drinking enough and eating enough? have you started taking any medications? are you eating any binding foods ie eggs ,also iron tablets can cause it so if your taking vitamins that contain them its may not be helping

Ive read that fiber suplements can help as you may need more fiber.

Ive lood on some of the free sites we have in the uk as doctors are free here and its said that diets can cause it and you need more fiber 20 to 30g daily more fluids and more exercise also that for a short time you can use a laxative to re motivate your system.

I really hope ive helped a bit i was so concerned reading your post as not going to the toilet can have bad effects on your whole body

take care and let me know how you get on xx

Thanks so much for your concern, all of you! I'm not on any medications but birth control, but I take a multivitamin, biotin, green tea capsules, and apple cider vinegar capsules.

As for Metamucil, I think I've tried it before. Or it was something similar and I couldn't get it down. It was orange flavored and wouldn't dissolved, so it felt like I was drinking sawdust floating on water that tasted somewhat similar to orange.

You have to be in some serious pain.  Long-term constipation would mean no passing gas, hard and distended stomach, nausea, loss of appetite, back ache, etc.  Provide some more info - Height, weight, number of calories consumed a day, etc.  Could be that you are not eating enough to generate waste.

The foods you listed aren't necessarily high in fiber.  If leafy greens = lettuce, then there's not much fiber there.  Dark, leafy greens like spinach and kale are much better.  Don't buy laxatives or do salt water flushes unless advised by a doctor.  In many cases, a laxative will cause more problems for your system in the long run.  If you can't afford a doctor, talk to a pharmacist.

If you have some of the symptoms I listed above, go to a doctor.  If you have an impacted bowel, this could lead to serious complications.

Hmm...the only symptom I've noticed, but could be something else, is bloating. I get anywhere from 1200-1700 calories a day, with little or no activity (desk job 10 hours a day, and being purely lazy. I do walk a couple times a week, and jump rope after for about 10 minutes). 1200 is pretty low for me, but I've been trying to boost my metabolism from doing something like this:

Day 1: 1200

Day 2: 1400

Day 3: 1400

Day 4: 1600

Day 5:1200

Day 6: 1900

Day 7: 1400

That hasn't really worked, but I'd like to give it more time. Oh, and I'm 5'6 and 207 pounds.

I'm a nurse (almost, I'm in my 4th year of training) and I say.....get it out of you!  A month without a BM in the hospital you would have been given SOOOOO many enemas.  Are you sure it's been a month?  Cause that's really, really not good.  Even people that are all tubed up and not eating have BM's more often. Ok, here's some ideas:

-a salt water flush probably isn't a bad thing.  when you were anorexic you were doing it for illogical reasons.  Now you are doing it so you don't perforate your bowel.  Same action, different reason, don't let it get inside your head.

-FIBER-all bran buds, prunes, any sort of dried fruit.  Have you tried psyllium husks?

I'm still having a hard time with this month thing.  Please tell me you're exaggerating.  I'm worried for you.

No, I'm totally serious. It had to be a month at least. I know I've tried, little has come out, and then given up. I don't feel sick or anything, but there hasn't been any change in my appearance.

The only pain I feel is stepping on the scale and it not budging, lol. Both my husband and I noticed that I just completely stopped losing. I upped my exercise to help, and it didn't work, I tried manipulating my calories, like getting more than I needed, then less, than regular, bla bla bla. That also didn't work. I'm CONVINCED this is the reason, and I find it pretty gross that I take in all this food and it's not going anywhere, or...(shiver) is getting reabsorbed.

As for prunes, how many would I need to eat for it to do anything? I'd rather just eat more fiber dense food than take a laxative, because I now have this fear that that too will get stuck in there, haha.

The first time I drastically lost weight, I went from a 38C to a 34B. It made me sad, but the hubby said they were "perfect handfuls." Now that I gained it all back, I'm a 36D, and I have also noticed that they're getting smaller. It's sad, but I think all bodies are beautiful, and the whole of you shouldn't be judged by your cup size.

I have to find a reason to add salsa to everything. It has to be scorching hot. We're talking, the hottest salsa you can find. Oatmeal? With carrots and salsa on the side. Noodles? There best be some salsa in there.

I am so odd.

chunky salsa or smooth? is it salsa specifically or does hot sauce work? what brand do you use? jarred or fresh?i ask because i love love love salsa and nothing is hot enough for me...lol

Super chunky. I use either Mrs. Renfro's Habenero or La Victoria Thick and Chinky Hot. I can go through two jars a week. It's embarrassing. Sometimes when I need it a little more hot, I add cayenne pepper to it.

Oh wow...I did not mean to say "Chinky." (hides in shame)

Worst binge ever:

Like 5 of those Fiber One Bars

2 Packs of Smores Poptarts

2 Burritos and a pack of potatoes from Taco Bell

A box of chocolates

A few hours later....and it all came rushing out. A terrible combo when you haven't had really any sugar in weeks.

I hate exercising in front of people! All the times I've ever gone to the gym, it's like today was "Let's Make Hannah Feel Like a Chubster" Day! Everyone there is always fit as hell and I never see anyone close to my size. It's crazy! I lose all confidence, haha!

Also, my husband eats whatever he wants too. ARGH. He's got all these Hot Pockets and deep dish pizzas and candy everywhere and he is TINY. What a butt!

Lastly, it drives me bonkers when the scale doesn't budge in a week. I work out, eat enough, but it won't do anything. It's a big buzzkill.

Strawberry Frapps from Starbucks

Smores Poptarts

Loaded jumbalaya or beef stew, campbells chicken and dumpling soup

Moose Tracks ice cream

(sigh) I know I could eat these in moderation, but these foods are those ones that you'd have to have in such small servings that you couldn't help but eat more...than some more...than all of it.

I miss being a kid and eating whatever I please, lol.

They had this Winnie the Pooh kid's cereal that was AMAZING. It had graham cracker shapes in it, and the little oh's were brown and tan. It was soooo good, I could eat it every day! I heard they still had it, but took out the graham bits because it was hard on the teeth? Whatever! It was the best part!

Weight Loss why do you REALLY want to lose weight [be honest] Feb 27 2009

My husband is going away to basic. He is tiny. We're an odd couple. I'm 5 foot 6, 220 pounds. He's 5 foot 3 and 140. I'm afraid he'll come back even smaller and fitter, and I'll dwarf him or be TWICE HIS SIZE, lol. So I'm suprising him by losing with him. I want him to come back to a slimmer, sexier me.

Weight Loss your weight in HIGHSCHOOL Feb 27 2009
02:35 (UTC)

I was overweight most of high school, then at the end of junior year I did something REALLY STUPID. I was anorexic. Ate less than 300 calories a day. I went from 200 to 120 in about 5 months. I lost hair, looked dull, and couldn't look in the mirror without seeing all the flaws I still hadn't fixed. My parents took me to a doctor, and I found out my white blood count was not even the lowest on the scale. My parents took me to a million doctors, and eventually a child oncologist. That's right. CANCER. They thought I developed leukemia. When the test came clear, (except for the diagnosis of malnutrition) that was it for me. Things got rough with my parents. I moved in with my husband (then boyfriend) and started gaining back. I guess I got too comfortable (I also worked at a resteraunt, and they had....pumpkin pie, white chocolate macadamia cookies, yum! But so bad for you, lol) and am now 19 and 220. I said my wedding day would be my fattest day of my life, and it's true. I've lost about 20 pounds the healthy way!

So, I have to say that while I got to my ideal weight in high school, it was miserable and it almost killed me. I try to put all four years behind me, and just live the life I have now without obsessing about being skinny. It will be slow, but at least when I stand up to hug my husband, I won't pass out in his arms.

Foods Why's everyone so obsessed with subway? Feb 17 2009

Original Post by buzzybee1514:

There are only two things I like about subway.  Their bread and their sweet onion sauce.  Both are amazing but other than that its nothing special.  If I could I would buy a foot long wheat bread with sweet onion sauce, tomatoes, and lettuce.  I dont really care much for the turkey, the vegetables and sauce are what make the sandwitch.

I'm not trying to be mean but everyone on here whos all 'I can make a good sandwitch loaded with veggies (just the word veggies bothers the hell out of me) for half the price' kinda piss me off.  Its like you think youre better than everyone who likes subway.  Stop using the word 'veggies' youre not 5 use the whole word.  Idk sorry for my rant, I'm sure I'll get flamed for it lol.

Nah, for me and my husband, that sweet onion sauce is ADDICTIVE. We used to get sandwiches there 4 or 5 times a week, they're pretty effin' delicious. But we did something like, the cheese bread with provolone, roast beef, a crap ton of vegetables and a ton of sweet onion sauce. I highly doubt you can get a good tasting sandwich there worth the price if you cut out all the bad calories. The only way you're getting AT LEAST 300 calories or less is if you get bread with tomatoes and lettuce on it, lol. That bread is all the calories, and all the sauces that come with. I know it would be better to do something like chicken breast, whole wheat bread, no onion sauce, and lots of veggies, but that's pretty bland to me and still high in calories when I could make it at home with lower fat EVERYTHING including condiments.

Ginormous egg white omelettes.

Half a cup of egg whites is something like 70 calories. You could even do less than that, and blend it with spinach to make it super fluffy and delicious. I add green bell peppers and onions, with super hot salsa, and it can be 100 calories or less.

YUM!

Foods What defines a food as a "junk food" exactly? Feb 17 2009
02:45 (UTC)
28

It all depends on the hamburger. If it came from McDonalds, yeah, it's probably not great for you, but still somewhat nourishing. Anyone could make a much healthier version with lean ground beef at home. There are many different types of beef. Lean ground is anything 90% beef and up. That means what little is left is natural fat. Also, when you cook the beef, you can get rid of the drippings, that "grease" you're talking about, and get even less fat from it all.

Most fast food is unhealthy. Some places have healthier items, like salad and baked potatoes, but leave it to them to somehow make it less than healthy. I get weird comments when I ask for a plain baked potato from Wendy's. I bring my own dressing for salads, and forgo croutons. It's best to just do your own meals at home, but sometimes I'm on the go and forget to pack a snack. At least at home, you don't have to panic about the meal you ate, or worry about how good it REALLY was for you. Even Subway, which tells you it is healthy, isn't that much different from McDonalds. People (like the old me) used to think it was healthier than another joint, but they can quickly undo that slathering it in sweet onion sauce or mayo. Stop worrying about the calories, and just make everything yourself.

Also, junk food is empty calories. Gummi worms, pork rinds, Twinkies, none of these are good for you. They are full of fat and little or no real nutrition. How many people can eat one Twinkie, then say they are full and walk away? For the same calories, you could eat a baked potato with fat free sour cream and REALLY be full. Hamburgers aren't junk food per say, but all the better to call it that and just stayyyyy awaaayyyyy.

Foods What are some Very VERY VERY Low Calorie Snacks??? Feb 15 2009

Just went to my cupboard and looked for more:

Kamut. I love this taste. It's so odd, but delicious. 50 calories a cup. (it's a cereal btw)

Smart Pop 100 calorie bags

Canned tuna in water- about 150 calories

Edamame- 100 for a reasonable serving. Roast them, it's delicious!

Frozen cranberries, blueberries, strawberries- 60 to 100 for a half cup

I used to make little stir-fries with mushrooms, peppers, tofu, green beans, and water chestnuts, and with the right portions, they were only around 150 calories and really filling! Just measure out what you are eating, always check the serving size. You could have anything in moderation. If you want something that is 100 calories, that's sweet, and you want it to fill you up, it's best to go for two servings of Jello and maybe a rice cake with a little SF jam, than 1/4 of a Poptart.

My refrigerator smells like Chicken Bacon Ranch pizza. Darn you husband for getting to eat whatever you want without getting fat!!!
