Health & Support problems after gall bladder surgery Mar 11 2009

I had my gallbladder taken 10 years ago.  My gallbladder was the largest the surgeon had ever seen.  It was packed full of gallstones, all different sizes.  Anyways she warned me my diet would have to change and I would most likely have heartburn till death but there were new remedies on the market.  Yeah for me.  Well I watched what I ate and even lost 15lbs.  I was 5'7" at 165lbs down to 150lbs (not bad)  I slowly introduced Mexican, Italian, Indian and chinese cuisine back into my diet.  I had no problems until 2 years ago.  I have heartburn I can honestly say 4 days out of the week.  I can't drink milk (maybe I'm lactose tolerant now), ice cream or milkshakes it always wants to come back up.  I can eat yogurt but am in the restroom shortly after.  (I use it as a cleansing.)  I eat a lot of tums.  I have tums in the kitchen, downstairs bathroom and my bathroom.  I keep them in my purse, my car and my husbands truck and at my desk.  When I go in for my annual this summer I'm going to talk to my dr about it.  After really thinking about it and writing it down I probably need something more than tums.

This probably didn't help you at all.  I'm truly sorry.

Don't be embarrassed by your situation. Tell your dr what you're experiencing.  Don't try to remedy your situation by yourself.  Get professional guidance.    Please make an apt today.

Do you need to lose weight?

Are you turning this into anorexia?

In my experience people flip-flop from one disease to the other.

Get a physical.  Get your thyroid tested, blood sugars, cholesterol etc.  Having either of these diseases for any length of time can be harmful to your body.  Be honest with your physician when they ask personal detailed questions about your health history.  They will point you in the right direction.

Because of our brain, we put our bodies through so much..........its amazing how our bodies are always there for us thick or thin.

You have too much time on your hands and are wanting somebody to notice.  Sounds like you are alone and your roommates have a social life and to get back at them and to make yourself feel better you eat their food.  Join some clubs, make new friends, study at the library more often, offer your knowledge as a tutor, join the local gym, get a part-time job.  Do ANYTHING to get out of the house or dorm and meet people.

Also you need to confess to your roommates about eating their food.  Pay them back with money.  Don't replace the food because w/your low self esteem you will just eat that.   Purchase your own munchies and treats.  Let your roommates know you have these items to share and keep them in sight.  This way if you eat the whole bag of whatever your roommates will know and you will feel a small pang of guilt.

You're not trustworthy as a roommate.  If something turns up missing you are the first person they will interrogate and most likely not believe.

Above all; you need to get out of the house, be active and increase your circle of friends.
