| Hey all!!! & Welcome to the new posters! :)
SW: 210 CW: (as of yesterday a.m) 203!!! I am sooo psyched to be near the "under 200" mark that i wanna get there asap!! lol In response to the ? : QOD 07/02/08: Are you incoporating more activity (exercise) into your lifestyle change or are you mostly just eating a calorie deficit without exercising? I started out excercising, then during TOM 2 weeks ago I didn't excercise (last thing i felt like doing at that time)... and i haven't picked it back up since. we're looking for a house and have just been so busy, not that that's any excuse... but still. I've heard if u go back & forth sometimes it helps to "trick" the body... so hopefully once I start again which will be TONIGHT, bcuz we're not going out w/ our realtor, that my body will jumpstart & really feel the burn! lol |

| Hope you all had a great 4th! Remember, don't feel too bad about any little cheats you had over the holiday, we all have our moments, it's tough w/ alot of ppl around and not alot of healthy choices... just get back on the "horse" and like Courtney said, drink lots of H2O to get out the bad stuff! :) | |||

| I weighed yesterday and I was still the same... I think the TOM threw me off, but I'm gonna try to get back on track for next weigh in! And hey, better staying the same than gaining, right?!
I think i'm getting this water goal in. I drink about 4-5 16.9 ounce bottles at work then about another 2-3 large glasses at home (i don't know the size though)...? it seems like enough i dunno -LOL |

| I agree w/ the above... You cannot change ppl's minds once they are set a certain way, nor can you make them be more motivated and more accountable. Healthy weight loss takes dedication and patience... unfortunately some ppl don't have that.
The best you can do is say that you care and that you honestly worry about their health. This surgery isn't the answer. My mother had it done and she gained almost all the weight back. it pretty much makes you have an ED. You eat a tiny bit and throw up. It's absolutely disgusting. It's unhealthy in many ways. My mother is anemic and has god knows what other health issues now. Also, my aunt and cousin had the surgery done 3 times.... If you cannot train your mind to loose weight you will never train your body to keep it off. Plain and simple. There is tons of "proof in the pudding" as my Gram use to say. Show her ppl here (including yourself) that have done it. Show her how they've done and hopefully she'll realize it just takes a life change, not a horrific amputation of your stomach.... to use another analogy from my Gram "No matter how much you polish s*** it's still just s***!" You can cut apart your body, but really you're not changing anything... |

| i don't even bother weighing myself for about 2 weeks around TOM! It's not worth making urself feel bad for no reason cuz it'll totally be fine in about 2-3 days after. I stop weighing about 5 days before and don't weigh again til about 3 or 4 days after. BELIEVE me don't worry too much, it's just another sad fact of being a woman... LOL | |||

| all i have to say is I LOVE IT ALL!!! My mom had the surgery about 10 years ago maybe more now... and it was ridiculous... it basically made her anorexic...she'd eat 2 slices of cheese and throw up. absolutely INSANE! my dad and I were so mad at her for it, but she thought it was "the answer"... well now she's gained back weight (not all of it, but alot of it...) and she's realized there is no "magic answer" and she went and got herself a treadmill and she does the walking fitness dvd's that i get for her from netflix. ya, so basically it was a HUGE waste of money and oh ya, now she's anemic and has alot of other troubles because of it. I know ppl say it's the "help they need" but i totally agree, they're lazy and they need to spend the money on a personal trainer or something more worthwhile... and get on CC and start loggin and working out!!!!!!! |

| OMG i <3 skinny cow ice cream sandwiches! You can get a whole box at costco too!!! then you have a good low cal snack in ur freezer for a LONG while! Try em out Kandice, you'll get hooked! :)
I also like sugar free popsicles/fudgesicles/creamsicles. They're super low cal and super yummy! Also whole fruit bars are delicious too, they're a little higher calorie than the sugar free popsicles, but better for you, ya know? I've also heard weight watchers has some tasty treats, but i've never tried any... |

| Weight Loss | Alli, not working. i dont get it | Jun 24 2008 18:26 (UTC) |

| Alli's TOTALLY not worth it...
This is straight from the Mayo clinic site. A dr. reviewed Alli... How much weight could I lose using Alli? Alli can help you lose weight, but the weight loss likely won't be great — perhaps just a few pounds more than you would lose with diet and exercise alone. Only a small number of studies have evaluated the effectiveness of Alli. And many of the weight-loss estimates are based on studies conducted on its prescription-strength counterpart, Xenical. The average weight loss for prescription-strength Xenical is modest — about 6 pounds greater than diet and exercise alone after one year. So at half the strength, Alli could conceivably result in an average of 3 pounds lost in a year in addition to the approximately 8 pounds you could expect to lose from diet and exercise alone. How does Alli work? Alli promotes weight loss by decreasing absorption of fat by the intestines, which reduces the number of calories you absorb. Lipase, an enzyme found in the digestive tract, helps break down dietary fat into smaller components, so it can be used or stored for energy. Alli works by disabling lipase, which prevents the enzyme from breaking down the fat while it's in your digestive tract. The undigested fat continues through the intestines and is eliminated through bowel movements. Alli is taken with fat-containing meals, up to three times a day. Because of how Alli works, it's recommended that you eat no more than 15 grams of fat with each meal. Eating higher amounts of fat can cause unwanted effects, such as urgent bowel movements, diarrhea and gas with oily spotting. (EWWWW! and ps if u have any digestion issues allready, forget it. you'll be living in the br. i have a friend w/ ibs who tried it and felt like she was gonna die.) | The Lounge | what's the worst movie you've ever seen? | Jun 24 2008 14:59 (UTC) |

| Ginger, I too saw First Sunday...I must say it wasn't the "worst" movie i've ever seen, but it was pretty damned close! I too thought it would be hilarious... I love Ice Cube, Love Tracy Morgan on 30 rock... but alas, it was a complete let down. I actually think the choir director was the only semi funny part of the movie for a minute... then he just got annoying. LOL
and to everyone else, I'll admit, maybe I should rewatch adaptation... don't know if it'll be any better the 2nd time around, but i can try... but as for The Village, no way! I think I have ADD, honestly cuz I just can't deal w/ movies like that that are SOOOO boring it hurts. I loved Signs and Lady in the Water, but M. Night lost me on the Village for sure! Guess it's all just whether or not you can sit thru that monstrosity and be happy to figure out the ridiculous ending... if you can even stay awake that is... I know i went in and out a bit toward the end... |

| ok so if i drink lots of water than it combats the sodium i intake??? i still don't know the answer to that...
The sad thing is that I actually don't use any added salt on food. sometimes, in cooking I'll use sea salt cuz i've heard it's better for you, but that's about it. |

That is wonderful that the banner was put up and that you still have such a strong resource in you PI. Thank god for her! No parent could or should imagine going through that, you're very right! But keep faith and the siting in May is def a good sign! Hopefully they'll find more info from that. My thoughts are with you and thank god for blessing you with the angels who are helping and taking notice of your case, keep faith that they can bring Chris home safely to you! |

| Weight Loss | what is a realistic goal for me?? | Jun 23 2008 20:33 (UTC) |
9 |
| They say around 1-2 lb a week weight loss is normal. Soooo, if you start today and set your mini goals in 2 mo incriments i'd set them as such:
SW:: June 23rd-240 GW:: August 23rd-225 October 23rd-210 December 23rd-195 February 23rd-180 April 23rd-165 June 23rd-150 August 7th-(LAST 10 LBS!) 140!!!!! Also, reward yourself each time you make a goal. Whether it be that treadmill, or that ipod you wanted to listen to tunes while working out, or a pedometer or even a trip to the mall to buy yourself that great outifit you've been eyeing in the window! Don't get down if you don't reach your mini goal, esp at first and esp in the end, those are the roughest times. Just adjust them out based on how your body is working for you! Hope that helped! Best of luck to you!! |

| YOU LOOK FABULOUS! Congratulations! don't let it get you down or halt your progress. You've worked too hard!
I truly can't believe your mother said that to you, though... maybe she was trying to protect you from someone else saying it to you? is she overweight herself? she could simply be jealous as some others have stated... i'm sure she's proud of you, but you know, we all have our "b****y" moments and put our foots in our mouths! lol if it truly hurt your feelings, i'd maybe tell her. Like "hey, mom, ya know i've worked really hard to loose weight and i thought what you said the other day really put me down and minimalized all the hard work i've done. I've tried not to 'rub it in your faces' and if i have i'm truly sorry. If it happens again, please let me know." i dunno...that's my best advice. also yes, this is the best forum for support. I barely tell anyone i'm trying to loose weight or talk about the things we talk of on here. Alot of ppl can't understand it *(esp if they've never struggled w/ weight issues)... but i don't feel like you should have to hide your pride and hard work from your family. Just be sure you are sensitive to how it is affecting them, too. :) Listen, keep it up, it's your body and your health, and you deserve to be proud of all you've done! |

| Weight Loss | a question about SLEEPING??? | Jun 23 2008 17:21 (UTC) |
3 |
| ha! i was just wondering this this weekend myself... slept in late and then only had lunch and dinner, & wasn't as hungry as i usually am when i wake up early and have breakfast and the whole jazz... I think it's that the metabolism is shut off like tech dog said. the body's still "sleeping" if you wake up later and eat only lunch and dinner. I doubt it hurts too much if you still keep it healthy and eat enough calories to fuel your body. | |||
| The Lounge | Puppy Adoption, advice, recommendations, thoughts? | Jun 20 2008 20:47 (UTC) |

| Adoption is always a good choice! It saves a poor pup who may not deserve to be in the predicament that he or she is in. I have adopted both my cats from the shelter and would love to do the same w/ a dog (when we're able to have one, which is hopefully soon *cross fingers for the house hunting).
My oldest cat was 2-3 when we got her from the shelter and she was a bear to "break". They had no idea what kind of home she came from and she was super crazy at first. It took about a good 2 years for her to realize that we weren't going to "beat her" for anything and every move she made. She now is the happiest, most talkative, sweetest, most cuddly cat. She sleeps in bed with us every night and is at the door right when we get home. It took some time, but it was worth it. And every day I look at her and how sweet of a "baby" she is, I shudder to think that if I hadn't given her a chance noone would've. ANYWAY~enough of my sob story! for your schedule an adult dog might be more your speed.... puppy training is quite a chore. esp if you have an apartment and the little one is a terror who likes to chew or dig, i've heard some carpet, trim and sofa horror stories! Alot of ppl i know have pugs or puggles and say they are great small/med sized dogs and they don't really seem to have many training or seperation issues. But, like ppl every dog has it's own personality too on top of the breed basics... but, which breeds fit your lifestyle the best can be assisted online : http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/search.htm http://animal.discovery.com/breedselector/dog selectorindex.do Hope that helps!!! Best of luck and enjoy your new puppy when you find him/her! |

| OH man pgeorg that's bad! I feel so sorry for you! :( I can't say that I have but i'd be SOOO p***ed!
Ok let's see... WORST for me are: The Village -OMG shoot me in the f'n head! Adaptation-which won tons of awards and bored me 1/2 to death! Any of the "Epic Movie", "Meet the Spartans", "Scary Movie" type things... just awful. There's another one too... I remember my husband and I wanted to rip our hair out while watching it but I totally can't remember what it was!!! |

| Weight Loss | famished all morning...anyone else have similiar issue? | Jun 20 2008 17:52 (UTC) |
7 |
| I am the same way. Famished by lunch time even though I eat what should be a filling breakfast and snacks... I also consume around 1000 calories before dinner even comes into play. I usually have a 200-600 calorie dinner depending on the day... I think it's all just how the body works. I've seen some ppl on here who say they barely eat all day and then at night they're ravenous. It's all dependant on your schedule i guess. & ya just have to learn how to balance it... I've been told the more protein in the am the better and more full you'll be... so what? should we eat chicken and broccoli for BREAKFAST??! That's the only thought i can come to... LOL | |||

| Thanks to you both for your help!
The biggest problem for me is during the day at work... I obviously can't cook my food at work-LOL. I'd love it if I could but I can't... I work 8:30-5 and we drive an hour both ways... so I'm up at 5am-6am and not home until 6:30pm. Also, right now there's just my husband and I... so when I do cook/shop, I do it in smaller amounts for just the two of us, so we rarely have leftovers either... It's so tough... I can't get out and go shopping everyday & since we get home so late I "cook" things that are easier and take a little less time. Most everything in our house is frozen to begin with... I know that equals more sodium, but If I buy all the veggies and such they'll go bad b4 we eat them and I hate wasting food... :( What's a gal to do ya know? ... |

| i dunno...i def agree w/ you ajazzymama that Mady has figured out how to stand out...
but i don't think it's cuz she's "strong willed" like infiniteheart said... i think it's cuz she just wants all the attention, is a drama queen and a brat! LOL It's just my opinion but I think they cater to her WAY too much... I mean I understand that some days i'm sure it's hard to have 7 siblings but all the other kids seem to only have a meltdown maybe 1 show a month (& though i know these are edited, i know sometimes they are over a span of a few days too), but she has a meltdown almost every single show!!! And it's because she's not getting her way or because she made a bad decision and kicked or hit someone. I mean she's stormed in the house after school before and gone straight to her room, slammed the door and pouted and cried and whatever and Kate says "she's tired" and "she needs her time away" but i mean seriously?! She's 7! she was "away" from everyone at school all day!! GOODNESS... I just hate to think of how she'll be at 13-16 if she can't adjust to it all now. *whew* |
